    Near misses 2006

Blaster Bates was indeed a star, this is - no bullshit - sad news.

    The Canadian Paul Deadpool

Great stuff, some interesting picks suggesting mucho midnight oil turned to smoke. Am I right in assuming a certain One Shot Paddy is behind the Tankslappers? Also, does Thatcher count as a Science and Religion member on the basis of her chemistry degree? Dodgy I'd say, I mean, I've read several lengthy books with no pictures but it doesn't make me - like - a professor.

Lady C You've got too much energy and lust for life to leave us after a few fleeting posts about one actor. There's loads more to enjoy on this site, if you feel like sticking around. Go well

    Mary Travers

There's more cultural activity in a few spores of that than there is over two sides of an old Peter, Paul and Mary album.

Lady Clarissa; A serious suggestion here. If you approach BH directly you may well be fobbed off, their job is to run the place efficiently and they might see your letter as an unwanted distraction, something the matron seems already to be hinting. Several pages back I did manage to find the name of his agent, send it that way and the said agent - who has to touch base regularly on a few items of Dickie business - may pass it on. I'm sure there'll be money involved in his little bit of work on the new Carry On Doctor DVD and where there's money there's agents getting stuck in for their cut, so this might be a busy period. Go well.

Let's get this right; If we've done the things you accuse us of not doing then, according to what little logic I can extract from your post we would NOT be brain dead dumbfucks. Since I've done 'em, I'm not brain dead, or a dumb F**k. But I'm still here, still posting. Speaking of brain dead, we should keep quiet until we know what we're talking about but in the meantime we should die anyway so we'll never be able to learn enough to know what we're talking about and...! Let's face it pal, you're ranting, not arguing.

Wonder if there'll be frantic last minute e-mails subbing an existing team member for a certain pint sized television presenter currently snoozing in Leeds. I'm looking forward to waking up and matching my top ten against the competition.

I'd say we share a fair bit of attitude with the Hamster and his fans. It seems to have been doctored now but ITN tonight pointed out that as of today the Top Gear official site was still running a joke in its copy that stated no series of the programme was complete without an attempt to kill Richard Hammond. Dunno if we're the pot and Top Gear is the kettle or what.

Strip The Moderaters Of Their Meagre Powers?

You've got me DTTG; why would we want to do that, or have I missed an ironic gem here?

Star Crossed 'The Hampster' is his nickname, so called because six foot four Clarkson towers 9 inches over him.

Strip The Moderaters Of Their Meagre Powers?

It's no wonder there's such animosity to the mods; by my reckoning Pulphack, Vinegar Tits, Alphonsin and Hackenslash are all journalists, probably not the only ones. Editors man, overpaid, can't write as well as us, take the credit for all the journalists work....what do they do to justify that money? I wonder, was the voting in that poll influenced by what some of us do for a living?

Where Have All The Ranters Gone?

Good night for ranter spotting; Richard Hammond has brought some such posts in and there's a cracker of angry and insulting vitriol - calling us juvenile and loads worse - recently landed on Jake Lamotta on the DL itself.

Give us some credit, we're doing the same one post at at time, they've lowered my medication five times since I joined this forum.

    The Chequered Flag

What kind of car manufacturer lets an 89 year old test their machines? Shopmobility trolleys maybe, but a hot hatch! I'm guessing the paramedics had to lever his dentures out of the steering wheel and replace them.

The British Land Speed record thing is a rumour by the looks of it. There were no timekeepers there although Hammond did total the car that set the record lent to him by the team, and driver, who hold it. I'd doubt a novice like him would be insurable for a record attempt. Oh aye, and regarding the fighting in the posts above; SHUT UP OR YOU'LL WAKE RICHARD HAMMOND!

    Alistair Cooke

The gruesome thing here though is that Cook's frail old cancer ridden bones were part of the material traded by a company offering the complete opposite. In other words, bits of his body could - in theory - find their way into the bodies of patients healthier than he was in his last few months.

    Football

Aye, that drubbing has prompted some action on the Carlisle United Mad message board as well. Been an interesting Scottish night all round, Richie Foran - ex-Carlisle - knocking in all three for Motherwell. Calmed down a bit since we signed him with - allegedly - the worst disciplinary record of any player in Europe.

    Polite request...

Ticks 'n' guns; par for the course around here in the wild west. Mebbe I'd cause consternation if I took Mrs MPFC for a drink and a snog in the corner of Workington's one and only gay pub.

According to the news on television tonight it could be well serious, the air ambulance summoned passed a couple of other hospitals on the way to landing at the nearest teaching hospital where yer man now resides in the neuro unit. In other words, they decided right away to treat him as a possible serious brain damage case.

Good spot but it's a bit early to tell. The regaining consciousness bit so quickly suggests he'll recover, perhaps not completely. As OoO and Lawro will tell you, there are a few people around - like Mika Hakinen - who've had a lengthy sleep after piling up a car but recovered afterwards.
