A lot of them do shelve books in order by author, so I can't understand why they don't sort the DVDs as well. I've heard it blamed on customers not putting them back in the right place, but most people are used to DVDs not being sorted, so it might take a while before they notice.

I want to see the film, but for the moment will be keeping it as something to look for in the charity shops A bugbear of mine is that very few shelve DVDs in alphabetical order. All it needs is all the As together by title, then the Bs, etc. I'm sure they would sell more if they did. I can't be doing with scanning a whole wall of DVDs with my head on one side.

When the order doesn't affect scoring (as it does in HPDP, Windy City etc) I put mine in alphabetical order as it's easiest to check whether you have a particular person in that pool.

Just racism? I think the word itself is problematic as it implies that everyone has to be "woken" from a default attitude of bigotry and prejudice. It is divisive and does more harm than good. The word I would use is 'egalitarian'.

Just to be clear, I'm not a cigarette Nazi ! I gave up smoking because I couldn't afford it any more, and tbh I don't feel any better for it.

It's not a new concept, most of my generation grew up with a far more open, broad-minded and tolerant outlook than our parents had. Sure, there are bigoted and prejudiced people in every generation, but they are the exception rather than the rule, and it shouldn't be confused with disliking someone because of their actions or behaviour. Nobody should get a free pass because of their race, colour, culture, religion, gender or whatever. It just seems to have been taken too far by some, eg only gay actors should play gay roles, that sort of demand. Fine, how about only straight actors should play straight roles then, seems a logical extension? That is the sort of thing that winds people up.
