I named my dog Mabel. I think it's a lovely name, although I don't like any of the others you mentioned - they are all harsh names. Mabel conjures up the month of May and bells, without being too frilly. The only problem with it is people misspelling it Mable. I was reading a FB post the other day where a rescue was asking for name suggestions for a litter of orphaned puppies. An American recommended some names of baby girls they knew which they thought were really pretty names. Wyatt and Bennett.

You'd need buses for that to be any help. My village does have a bus service of sorts but it only goes to one town and the last bus back is at 1800. Nothing on Sundays. Unless your chosen film has an early afternoon showing, you can forget going on the bus.

In fact Mabel as a name has been steadily increasing in popularity in England & Wales in recent years. In 2021 (the most recent figures available) 839 baby girls were registered as Mabel, putting the name in 59th place. A famous bearer of the name is the singer-songwriter Mabel, who is Neneh Cherry's daughter.

Sad, but a good long life and nicely timed not to interfere with Bruce's upcoming tour. Back in 2013 I had the pleasure of seeing Bruce ignore all the girlies perched on their boyfriends' shoulders hoping to be pulled on stage to dance with him. Instead he disappeared into the wings and came back with his Mom on his arm and they danced together. One of the highlights of the show for me. Rest well, Adele, and thank you for buying your son that guitar.
