    Elton John

I don't know, but it has just struck me that if Elton was still married to a woman it would be "Sir Elton and Lady John", but as a bloke David is still just Mr Furnish. And husbands of Dames get the same treatment - no honorific title for them. They should all start a #metoo protest.

    Read Any Good Books Lately?

Speaking of which, 'Bodies' is available on BBC iplayer, both series. If you've never seen it, it's a drama from about 15 years ago, written by Jed Mercurio (Line Of Duty, Bodyguard). He used to be a doctor, so .... Not for the faint-hearted.

It's never struck me until now, but "Brexit" sounds just like a fart. The above version being one of those lingering drawn-out ones.

A nice article about Bill Heine and the Headington Shark https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2019/apr/07/it-went-in-beautifully-as-the-postman-was-passing-the-story-of-the-headington-shark-bill-heine

Very sad to read that, I enjoy Sarah's reviews and she is always willing to engage with readers. She seems like a lovely genuine person. Had no idea she'd had two stillborn babies in two years - how dreadful.

That I doubt. He was a very persistent bidder and the selling price was well over £200. Selling those items individually would be unlikely to recoup the cost. There's something there that he desperately wanted.

    1. Only if the deal was done off ebay, which I wouldn't propose anyway. I would want to do it through ebay for my own protection. 2. Yeah, I'm hoping he only wanted one of the pieces and not the one I want! That's what I would have done with the rest if I'd won.

I thought of doing that, but judging by the reactions to my innocent question (eg " Even attempting to do this could get you suspended") I'm not sure if I could trust the seller not to be a similar arsewipe. I'd better leave it. I might find one yet for less money. It's the kind of thing that might be found on a junk stall for 20p because people wouldn't know it was collectable and rare.

Seems not. I've had a couple of stupid replies from people in their 'help' section. Their replies reveal that they haven't really understood what I've asked. One thinks it would be illegal "in the current climate", whatever that means. Illegal! I ask you! It's common practice at auctions in real life - you buy a lot that contains one thing that you want, and you either leave the rest behind or try to sell it on, and it's a great result when you can do that before leaving the saleroom. I think the real reason is that ebay don't want people buying and selling offsite. But I would be quite happy to buy this item via ebay on a 'buy it now' sale. I shall just have to watch out in case he puts it back up for sale. The whole lot went for way beyond what I was prepared to pay, which is encouraging as I only need this one piece to complete my set.
  20. Postponed, not cancelled (yet). From the Stones Facebook page: Unfortunately today the Rolling Stones have had to announce the postponement of their upcoming US / Canada tour dates - we apologise for any inconvenience this causes those who have tickets to shows but wish to reassure fans to hold onto these existing tickets, as they will be valid for the rescheduled dates, which will be announced shortly. Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible. “I’m so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets, I really hate letting you down like this. I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on the road as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.” - Mick Jagger

Ebay question. Bidders' identities are concealed during bidding. When the sale is over, is it possible to find out who bought the item? There's a sale going on which involves a group of items, one of which I want. Chances are the buyer may not actually want all the items, so I was wondering about the possibility of making him an offer for the one item.
