I don't like names with "eth" in them. Beth -sounds like somebody with a lisp throwing up. Ethan - makes me think of methane. Seth - a poisonous snake. Megan because it sounds ugly, clunky and robotic. Even worse when it's spelt Meghan. What is the point of that 'h'? You-neek names. I know of a Jazmyn and an Aaleigha. Enough said.

In that context our equivalent is probably 'club', then. As in F.C. (football club). For tournaments a squad would be selected from the club, and a team from the squad.

FTFY Hmmm. I think there's a difference. In a tournament you have a squad from which to select the players who will form the team for each game. So the team comprises the players on the pitch, but the squad includes everyone else.

Are there restrictions on what kind of photos are allowed by Wikipedia? Because very often there is no photo at all. I also notice that they don't include lyrics in song entries. That might be a copyright issue, but they don't even link to a lyrics site.

"Quick" winds me up when it's used to describe a text, because I don't really know what people mean by "send a quick text". What are they trying to say? It's becoming one of those glued-together phrases that people trot out automatically, like "born-again Christian" when what they mean is, er, Christian.

I am very happy to say that I have finally been able to mow the lawn. Well, I say lawn, it's mostly moss, but with some brutally overgrown tufty patches. For once the grass went into proper winter hibernation, so there was no need to do it after the end of October. However the incessant rain and snow has created a jungle with no opportunity to get at it until today. Add to that the fact that the elderly lawnmower has spent the winter inside a very leaky shed (the winds having ripped off all the roofing felt) and you will understand that I was very relieved when it started at the second pull and coped with the dreaded task effectively if a touch reluctantly. Maybe I should have posted this under Weather.

Funnily enough I recently bought a new shed, but I've finished paying for it now.
