No. He renounced his Greek and Danish royal titles when he got engaged to Princess Elizabeth, and took his maternal grandfather's name of Mountbatten. Grandfather Prince Louis of Battenburg had renounced his German title during WWI and anglicised Battenburg to Mountbatten.

About time Banshees put in an appearance. A conversation between those two would be something. Not sure what, but something.

Ah, I think I picked him last time.

Oh no, what shitty news, Willz.

He doesn't seem to share your pessimism: “I certainly don’t expect to die soon and I’m still making plans for the future."

I couldn't agree more. Good grief, if I made a list of all the blokes who let their hands wander, made "inappropriate" suggestions or dirty jokes to me during the 70s and 80s, it would fill a book - even just those I can remember. It was mostly just exploratory missions to see if they got a favourable response. No big deal. If serious sexual assaults or rape took place, it should have been reported at the time.

Not if they don't die.

I don't think the level of fame, or importance, is a factor, provided the candidate meets the obit requirement. Even then there's a loophole - note that they "must be famous enough such that their death is expected to be reported by the UK media".

Well, on that basis you could include anybody. I too don't get the angst about potentially "missing" the Queen.

I had forgotten I was in this.

Aw Spade, are you not even going to do a theme team?
-
It could indeed. Matilda's at 25. I think the name (if a girl) is odds-on to be among the top 25, as below.

Seems a bit harsh. I mean, Paula Radcliffe wasn't disqualified from a marathon for having a slash.
-
It does seem a little tenuous given that regional BBC obits are not accepted. Especially as England/N.Ireland/Scotland/Wales are dismissed as regional.

Amelia is another possibility for a girl. Another Hanoverian Royal name. And currently very common trendy.

I disagree. I think he looks ten years younger than his age.

No! She is American.

Fair point. The article also mentions that Christopher Booker is the only other one left alive of those who collaborated with Ingrams at Shrewsbury School, and at Private Eye. Another snippet: "Ingrams went teetotal in 1967, followed shortly after by (Barry) Humphries, “a very heavy boozer”. Those who gave up drinking survived; those who didn’t, didn’t."

Here's a fairly recent (August) interview in The Times. He sounds quite chipper. And he's still driving. He still does organ recitals in Aldworth church too. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/richard-ingrams-we-couldnt-cope-with-sudden-fame-and-fortune-r6jq6w990 Fun fact: Midsomer Murders is filmed just up the road in Wallingford.

Yes, I think this is the one in which a chap who was born in our village got eaten.
