Which Of These People Will Die First?

Or perhaps I thought that someone might be able to give a good reason for such threads. But your suggestion that I am an attention seeker was quite amusing. It gave me a good laugh, so it was worthwhile just for that.

Which Of These People Will Die First?

I can never see the point of threads like this. People can only guess.
  4. A piece has just fallen off one of my teeth. As it happens, I had a routine dental appointment booked in a couple of weeks time, so I rang to see if they could get me an earlier one. My regular dentist has been on maternity leave, but she is back now. Last time I saw a squeaky-voiced teenager in whom I had no confidence whatsoever. Imagine my horror when it emerged that they had booked me in again with the teenager (possibly a slight exaggeration, but she looked about 12) instead of my regular dentist. When I booked, I had made a particular point of checking that regular dentist would be back by then. First available appointment with my proper dentist is a month away. Bloody furious. It also emerged today that the teenager was not the locum with whom my previous appointment had been booked, but someone else entirely.
  5. Would it make any difference if I told you that it is a construction beloved of the harridans on Mumsnet?

Would it be a good idea to put an alphabeticised masterlist into your first post on Page 1 for easy reference?

    The Dead Of 2017

Randall Roberts, the hack who wrote that obit, clearly doesn't know what "scion" means. "There have been others to claim the title of unofficial scion of the Sunset Strip, but Mario Maglieri, who died Thursday at age 93, lorded over that realm the longest and witnessed the rise and evolution of the storied West Hollywood live-music hub."

Wasn't it do-gooding cunts who insisted that that information was on the packet in the first place?

    DDP Team Name Rejects

There's also this 2011 interview linked in it http://www.rockerzine.com/2011/09/philip-oakey-of-the-human-league-here-comes-the-mirror-man/ in which he says: "I accidentally [actually?] am a fan of sci-fi. I try to pretend that I’m not now because I don’t think it particularly impressed people. I was going to say impresses girls but I’ve had the same girlfriend for twelve years now and I’m not really trying to impress girls anymore! (Laughs)"
  15. Sorry, you clearly have the wrong end of the stick. They did not "take my dog away". I don't want to keep raking over it so will leave it there, thanks.
  16. I can't keep her, that's why I had to return her to the rescue. I am very very sad that I can't keep her, but the most distressing part is that they wouldn't allow me to keep her at home until they had found her a new home. https://www.bluecross.org.uk/home-direct-scheme
  17. Don't get me started on the RSPCA.
  18. I am sorry but I am not in the mood for banter. I had to give my little dog back to the rescue because she sadly turned out to have a deep hatred for other dogs and is very aggressive. Never to people, just dogs. I don't want to go into details but it just won't work here. She is in every other way the perfect little pet. All she needs is someone who doesn't mind keeping her on the lead and away from other dogs. I can't do that here. I really miss her. The worst thing is that the fucking Blue Cross insisted that they have her back in their kennels for "assessment". They are supposed to let you keep the dog at home while they look for a new home, so the dog can stay in a familiar loving home until they go to another with the minimum of trauma. This is what they say they do. They lied. My poor little dog is into her second week in a comfortless barred cell while the arrogant fuckers "assess" her. They never found out what she was like when they had her before, and they won't be able to replicate the situations that she has reacted to at home. I am beside myself with anger and grief, it's actually worse than having a pet put to sleep because the poor little soul is lonely and suffering in a concrete kennel instead of a loving home. How can they be so cruel. I would far rather have found her a home myself, but these controlling cunts tie you up by making you sign legal agreements and you are not allowed to give the pet to anybody except back to them. I repeat, this is the Blue Cross. I was going to leave them a little legacy in my will but they will never get another penny from me.
  19. Nothing like, sorry to disappoint.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

Never heard any rumours of such. Bruce is notoriously clean-living, enjoys a few beers but not to excess. He is also a control freak, and I don't think drugs in the band would go down at all well with him. That said, there was a long hiatus of ten years or so in the late 80s/90s when he pensioned the E Street Band off, and worked with other musicians. Max Weinberg puts on incredible performances of concentration and power, you have to wonder if his heart will give out on stage one day. Everyone looks pretty fit except for Steve Van Zandt who, shall we say, no longer has the sylph-like figure of his younger days. And Nils Lofgren has problems with arthritis, I think, and he's had both hips replaced.

    Death Anniversary Thread

I think she intended them to be a bit distinct from her other novels, but they're not really much different from the standalone psychological ones.
