  1. Dia de los Muertos

    Patrick Swayze

My aunt was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer back in the day, and given just a couple of months to live... but she lived 7+ years. There is a very small percentage of people who live over 5 years... Our cancer dancer might be one of the "lucky" ones, though not for much longer, I expect. How many a day was your aunt smoking during that 7 years? Good point. She was not a smoker.

Welcome! Keep and eye out for the Patrick Swayze sweepstake.

Golden Brown is indeed a strange choice... except for the likes of Pete Doherty, or what's-his-name from the Stranglers.

My favourite tribute up to now (heard it in Sky news): "she was the new People's Princess... an Essex Princess." We need a vomiting emoticon please, BTW.

    Well done Vinegar Tits!
  9. To be fair the the has beens, they've picked a trio - Blur, Springsteen and NY - famous for being able to turn in a good show, whether or not the crowd had come specifically to see them. Be interested in your opinions on their performances, assuming you opt for music over the comedy tent or getting some spaced-out earth mother to reset your chakras. Glastonbury is the one festival I go to where there is so much on that the music is not always the first priority. It's the only festival I know of that tends to get sold out before the bands are announced. Having said that, I always make a point of going to as many gigs as I can at the festival. From the three headliners, I'll only see Blur... but these are only the headliners for the Pyramid stage, and there are so many other stages as well... once the full lineup is revealed, I will make my mind... and then once I'm there I'll be so off my face that I will probably miss half of the bands I set up to see

  11. I could do with Neil Young dying before Glasto. I have tickets and can't believe the bunch of have-beens they have picked to headline.

I think talking about a recovery is taking this a bit far... sure, she should be dead by now, but nobody is reporting that she has been getting better, right?

I am in the process of reading (and very much enjoying) Mr. Nice, by Howard Marks, "the world's favourite dope smuggler". Fun, fun, fun!

Tell me about it! I had high hopes for the 15th of March, which is when they said she only had hours to live. Arguably, we all have hours to live, just many more than her. But still, enough is enough I say!

The Austrians should do what Jeffrey Dahmer's jailers did and accidentally leave him alone for a few mins with a psychopathic fellow prisoner with access to a heavy steel pole. Takes care of the problem for everyone, and saves the taxpayer the cost of incarcerating him. That is a great idea. The Austrians have in the past managed to get rid of other "undesirables" the same way: When the Russians left Vienna after WWII, part of the deal was that the Austrians could not demolish any of the monuments, bridges, etc. that the Russians had built. One much hated Russian bridge over the Danube happened to collapse one night... luckily there were no cars driving through it at the time, and just as lucky was the fact that a replacement bridge a block away had just been completed that week For the eyesore that is the Russian Soldier monument, they just built this massive fountain in front to hide it (here seen from the side):

Wow misswhisp, that IS a broad assumption! Particularly from someone who doesn't know either Heith Ledger or most people blah blah personally. Just saying dude.

Wow what a crazy picture! Looks like he's just finished with the tiling (spellcheck?)!
