Congrats to everyone who picked Mandela as hit 8. Anna Wing dead at 98.

As my hope of victory fades, I may as well post about my sole unique pick, who looks unlikely to cash in any time soon... King Robbo, noted graffiti artist (if you consider it art) and Bansky's supposed "rival" suffered a life-threatening head injury in April 2011, which left him in a medically-induced coma for several months. Since then the only update has been from his apparently offical Facebook page, stating that he has been in a persistant vegetative state since around last July.

I didn't realize the BBC forced "the poor" to own a TV.

Yeah, been trying to think of something based around "Truth and Reconciliation" for five minutes, I got nothing. It's a toughie, isn't it? I've already used up the "short walk to the crematorium" one in the Drop 40 notes. The angles are oddly difficult: his name, his other name (Madiba), Robben Island, ANC, "Free Nelson Mandela" (The Special AKO?) Apartheid, I'm Soweto-ing on this, I don't mind telling you... Grave Robben? Nah, that's terrible.

Dead

I suppose he went "Fuck it all" after his boyfriend stopped being Pope With the release of the new movie about him and Liberace, Thorson's been whoring himself out for more publicity, including claiming his cancer is now "stage 3 colon cancer", coupled with various addictions. He's been bailed out by the upstanding citizen that is Dennis Hof, who is paying for his treatment, but is seemingly headed back to prison after pleading guilty to the credit card fraud. So, maybe not a total write off pick after all...

Kenneth Waltz, doyen of the ever exciting field of international relations theory, has neo-ed his last realism aged 88. Edit: Uh, already posted in the main thread by a guest...

Very, very, very minor, but the image of Ian Maxtone-Graham in DDP 2011 is of the (now dead) Don Payne. This is IMG...

Terminal cancer or no terminal cancer, Scott Thorson is now in jail for credit card fraud and is calling himself "Jess Marlow" for some reason.

News reports today say he has between 2 to 5 years to live. Joost van der Westhuizen says that he doesn't care what anyone thinks of him anymore, following recent speculation about his private life. The next day, his estranged wife alleged that he has been having an affair with his neurologist. Two years after his diagnosis, and Joost's condition has apparently "deteriorated considerably".

Richard LeParmentier, who played Admiral Motti, has died aged 66. Insert force choke pun here.

How about a tweet from the Guardian saying that they have no plans to run a obit? ...I thought not.

Amazingly, he has... -
Don Payne, who wrote 16 episodes, all of them terrible, has died. He also wrote the Thor movie and its forthcoming sequel.

Update on Ryan Buell

Had a stroke at Christmas, is now in a wheelchair but plans to write two more Adrian Mole books.

And here's even clearer...

Well this is a pretty clear indication...

Yeah I was pretty sure we did. Ok, well I'd say just rename it as 'The Simpsons' then, please.
-
Simon is one of the show's three creators (as with many successful things, he's the one who got screwed over, albeit not financially) and has done a lot of charity work so an obit seems pretty likely. None of the show's main writers have died so it's hard to judge, but I remember the Mail running a piece when one of them got married, so it's probable a lot of them would. More speculation here (including a picture of him walking with a cane...) P.S. Can we change the thread name to something not shit? The Simpsons (and other animation) or something like that?

Dead. A hit for People I Think Might Die in 2013 United.

Ronald Dworkin, one of the more prominent modern political philosophers (he got a whole week to himself on my uni's craptacular political theory module), has died aged 81.
