I've checked Ancestry family trees and Newspapers.com. Nothing. I'm not subscribed to the Canadian newspaper archives so can't check there. My hunch is that she's still alive. She received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012, so she's very much been on the radar within the last decade, and if she died I'm sure it would be publicised.

SC has gone awfully quiet...

The Glenn Miller Orchestra UK playing a little birthday tune for him.

I always got Sir David Cox confused with Sir David Butler. Both British. Both called David. Both knighted. Both dealt with statistics. Both born in 1924. One key difference now... Sir David Butler is still alive, though statistically unlikely to live to cover another UK general election.

Guardian obit for John Pett (wiki), British documentary-maker who died back on 30 November 2021, aged 94. I wanted to mention him because he directed 3 episodes of The World at War, one of the best documentary series ever made in my opinion.

Nah. There was weekly stuff about child sex abuse in the Roman Pedo Church when he was Pope. He gave not a fuck then, and probably gives less of a fuck now. Still baffles me how the Pope still receives little scrutiny by the media. Even in the UK. The powerless and neutral Royal family are critiqued more than the head of a multi-billion member partisan belief system, which is pretty incredible if you think about it.

Japanese media reporting the death of Shizuo Miyauchi, aged 76, from pancreatic cancer. He was an announcer for TBS and the original voiceover on Takeshi's Castle when it aired in Japan in the 80s. His voice can be heard faintly on the UK version, as Craig Charles dubs over him with his shit jokes. -
Update: we're now on 14 likes. Can we make YW's comment the most liked in DL forums history just to give SC a sleepless night?

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...
Ulitzer95 replied to Vaagheid's topic in DeathList Forum
A few dead nonagenarians/centenarians awaiting obits: Kenneth Norman Jones CBE (wiki), senior Australian civil servant, supposedly dead at 97. Klara Post (wiki), Dutch Olympic gymnast, supposedly dead at 95. Patricia Kenworthy Nuckols (wiki), American field hockey player and WASP during WWII, supposedly dead at 100. Only the biggest celebrity death reveals from Ulitzer95. You're all spoilt. -
It’s sourced on the Wiki page. If you look at reference #35 (in the column furthest to the right on the table), it’s there but it’s annoyingly Euro blocked. I’ve uploaded a screenshot of the start of the article for you here.
-
I think so. Here's the part of that sketch you're referring to: I did some Little Britain-related research back in December. Easy to forget that it started airing 20 years ago. Dozens of the supporting actors and guest stars are dead sadly.
-
I liked it, just to annoy you. So 6 likes, 7 morons.

Recreational skiing deaths are still pretty rare. It’s easy to think otherwise given the few big stand out names you could throw up that have been involved in skiing accidents eg Sonny Bono, Natasha Richardson, Michael Schumacher. You could say the same of helicopters and opioids, both of which are more lethal than skiing. It’s not a valid reason to start banning everything. If you wish to live your own life completely risk-averse, you’re welcome to lock yourself in your home forever more. Some life that is.

Yes, you’re correct. Edited. Can’t say I’m the biggest Marvel fan. Seen 50% of them, but none of the Avengers flicks for example.
-
Woah. Now that is a shock. I never really rated Hannibal Rising as a prequel but he was a great actor. Thoroughly recommend A Very Long Engagement as well. Right up there as one of my favourite French films. With the new Marvel series yet to be released he’ll become cemented as the next Heath Ledger/Chadwick Boseman. Very sad, but he’ll become immortalised as a legend of the silver screen as a result.
-
I recognise him as one of the supporting actors in Little Britain. He looks completely unrecognisable in his Twitter picture. Is this really the same person?!

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Why post it in here if there’s a published obituary? This thread is for people who have been marked as dead on Wiki but don’t have a source to back up their death. -
Another Brit supercentenarian, Joyce Wooding, died on January 9th, aged 110.

Oooo just seen that she's a unique pick in the DDP! QOs: Mirror, The Sun, Daily Star. Given that Gento was a hit earlier today and Saturnino just got his QO, that's 21 hits in 19 days!
-
That's sad. I love The Time Machine. A really decent stand alone sci-fi back in the pre-Star Wars era when the average sci-fi flick sucked. The last surviving main cast member too. An exceptionally private individual. Her year of birth was disputed online for years as a result, and I'm not sure if the precise place of her birth is even known (somewhere within LA County).

Thought it would be interesting to look at the oldest entries in the DDP this year. Strangely enough, there are exactly 101 centenarian entries as of 18 Jan 2022 (with Ray Anthony the next to join the club on 20 Jan), but that's if we exclude Apilado and Baker Miracle, who were already confirmed to be deceased before the starting line. I'll update this only once – at the end of the year – to see how many scored in the end. I remember years back people used to pick loads of the supercentenarians off of the top 100 list on Wiki. If we ignore Fauja Singh and Virginia McLaurin, there are no longevity myth picks either (i.e. world's "oldest" man at 124 from village in India type picks). Have the new rules disallowed such names or are people just getting smarter with their picks over time?

Problem is limited resources and staffing at the GRG. They can't validate cases quick enough. A huge failure on the part of that body is that it has barely expanded during the entirety of its existence (since 1990). It exists as a niche group, with its head spending far too much of his own time chatting on an online forum like an amateur. Long before now, he should have appointed a board, a director and put at the heart of it a goal to drive fundraising efforts and maximise donors so that they could expand and grow. Their website was clearly built in the 90s as the userface looks like a piece of shit. Their "donate" tab doesn't even have anything written on it about why you should give and what it will mean. There's just an ancient PayPal box. *sigh* EDIT: Actually, I hadn't even noticed that they've all but abandoned their website since 2018! Seems they do everything through the forum chat now. *double sigh*

Isn't the new world's oldest man Juan Vicente Pérez Mora of Venezuela? Born 27 May 1909 (so older than Delio Venturotti who was born 25 Oct 1909). Here's a photo of him from his 112th: He's holding a certificate signed by Dr. Robert Young (@drol's best mate).

Jerry Hall is just biding her time. She'll wait until he's frail enough not to survive a "fall" down the stairs. And then...
