    The 100 Club

American conductor and violinist Everett Lee (wiki) dead in Sweden at 105 according to this Facebook post. A pick in the centenarian deadpool. Possibly a DDP pick? He should get a QO.

Blogs are not considered reliable sources by Wikipedia standards. Also, that’s not “her” blog, it’s a blog. Also, it says her death is unconfirmed, so even if it wasn’t a blog, it wouldn’t be acceptable on Wiki because it doesn’t state she’s dead with any degree of certainty.

FFS, that means there’s yet another vacancy in the Order of the Garter. I can’t deal with the prospect of Sir Gordon Brown.

The Boomer comedy is strong on this thread. Jim Davidson must be shitting himself.

You missed The Dixie Cups. The Supremes only lost Mary Wilson last year! That was a huge loss.

I doubt that’s her. The Stage is a UK newspaper that almost exclusively focuses on UK-based actors. Plus she looked great at 70 in 2001. She must have remarried to unlikely she died under the name Stroud. You’ll have to find out what her married name was first.

. @Gisooo, I've uploaded an August 2001 article on Pauline Stroud for you here. It records her age as 70. Another article from 1952 records her age as 20. So the 21/3/1930 DOB on her Wiki page may be wrong. The ages given in these articles would suggest she was born in 1931. "Pauline Stroud" may have been a screen name BUT I think she could very well be "Pauline F. Stroud", born Marylebone, London in the last quarter of 1931. If you want to get further in your research for these obscure actors/actresses, I recommend subscribing to both BritishNewspaperArchive.co.uk and Newspapers.com.

Yes, that’s another spam link. Deaddeath.com and Insideeko.com are both bots.

    British Character Actors

That's not a real website. It's an autogenerate/bot site i.e. not written by humans. If you type in any celebrity name on Google and then stick the word "death" after it, it will autogenerate a page for them. They're just clickbait.

Stairway To Heaven/ Highway To Hell

I thought there was somehow. It'd be a lot easier for everyone to remember these threads if the quirky titles went into the subheading, rather than the thread name itself.

    R Dean Taylor

Finally, an obituary with original research, from Best Classic Bands. This settles it beyond any doubt: "R. Dean Taylor, a Canadian singer and songwriter who earned his biggest hit for his 1970 recording, “Indiana Wants Me,” for Motown’s Rare Earth label, died on Friday, January 7, 2022. In the days following, there had been numerous social media posts referring to his death, but no confirmation. Today (Jan. 13), Best Classic Bands received word from veteran music journalist Larry LeBlanc that Taylor’s wife of 52 years, Janee, confirmed his passing. The report indicated that Taylor had been briefly hospitalized a year ago with Covid-19, but had been living at home ever since, under hospice care. Taylor was 82."

Stairway To Heaven/ Highway To Hell

In the absence of a prog rock thread, I'll dump this one here: Bobby Harrison (wiki), early drummer of Procol Harum, dead at 82. Left the group just shortly after the release of A Whiter Shade of Pale, BUT he didn't appear on the recording, or any of their other charting records for that matter.

    Dead Pop Stars

Crossposting this. With thanks to @_floydylan_ for flagging. Sonny Turner (wiki) of The Platters, dead from throat cancer at 82. I believe that's all of their charting members dead. They released material from 1952 to 1970. The last time they charted in the UK was in 1960, and that lineup was already 100% gone before Turner's death. They continued to chart in the U.S. until 1968. The article implies that Turner was the last survivor from that period. However, the brand name continues to be used today, and 4 people currently tour as "The Platters".

    The Dead of 2022

GRO Index is FINALLY updated to the end of 2020. If anyone has any England/Wales names they'd like to run through it, here's the link, or ask me if you can't get access. EDIT: Hmmm very weird. They've added all the deaths from Oct, Nov, Dec 2020, but not for the first 9 months of the year... why? Hopefully the rest will appear in the next few days!

Thank you! For some reason when I Google his name, that site doesn't come up. I've often wondered why I don't get certain results on Google. Are you using a different search engine?

    Boris Johnson

This Chinese spy in Westminster story that's just breaking is just what he needed – a big distraction. FBI have this woman on tape. Barry Gardiner and Ed Davey have taken lots of money off her. I'm not convinced Boris is about to fall. Still only 1/3 of Conservative party members want him gone. Sure, Douglas Ross and several other non entities told him to go yesterday. I think they shot too prematurely. If he survives and continues on, those MPs (and the Scottish Conservative leadership) will just become marginalise from CCHQ and the WM top dogs. Not the brightest idea. The bookies tend to take my view – they're saying 60% likeliness he'll survive this.

Whilst I'm here, if anyone can help with death information for any of the following Italians, it would be much appreciated. They all have English Wiki pages and need to be killed off on there. Alfredo Varelli (wiki, b. 1914) Film actor, appeared Quo Vadis, possibly died in States but doesn't show in the records, which makes me wonder if he returned to Italy. Anselmo Viviani (wiki, b. 1915) Sross-country skier, was alive aged 92 in 2007, so what happened to him? Adriana Sivieri (wiki, b. 1918) Argentine-born actress, quite a few unreliable clickbait type sites say she's a centenarian. I highly doubt it, probably died decades ago. Bruno Zago (wiki, b. 1919) Footballer, played for Inter Milan's predecessor in the 1940s. Clara Bimbocci (wiki, b. 1919) Gymnast at the 1936 Summer Olympics. Lilia Dale (wiki, b. 1919) Another one who appears on these centenarian actress lists. Nothing on her for years, surely dead? Fioretta Dolfi (wiki, b. 1920) Same story. Another film actress. Enrico Gentile (wiki, b. 1921) Jazz and pop singer. A forgotten member of the famous Quartetto Cetra. Iacopo Jacomelli (wiki, b. 1921) Jazz singer. Another forgotten member of the Quartetto Cetra. Riccardo Cerutti (wiki, b. 1921) Rower at the 1948 Summer Olympics. Stefano Ferrari (wiki, b. 1921) Footballer for A.C. Milan and A.S. Roma. Tom Felleghy (wiki, b. 1921) Hungarian-born actor who appeared in over 100 films, mainly in Italian cinema. Marcello Andrei (wiki, b. 1922) Director and screenwriter. Alive in 2002(?) so what wikihappened to him? Mirella Avalle (wiki, b. 1922) Sprinter at the 1948 Summer Olympics. Roberto Antonioli (wiki, b. 1922) Rugby union and rugby league player (represented Italy at national level in league) Vittorio Casaretti (wiki, b. 1922) Footballer, played for Inter Milan's predecessor in the 1940s. Aldo Riva (wiki, b. 1923) Footballer, played for A.S. Roma. Renato Cattaneo (wiki, b. 1923) Footballer, played for Como and Vicenza in the 40s. Rinaldo Fiumi (wiki, b. 1923) Footballer, played for Inter Milan's predecessor in the 1940s. Tibor Garay (wiki, b. 1923) Hungarian-born footballer, played for Inter Milan's predecessor in the 1940s. Possibly emigrated to France thereafter. Vicente Di Paola (wiki, b. 1923) Argentine-born footballer, played for A.S. Roma, possibly emigrated to Spain or Portugal thereafter. Domenico Pace (wiki, b. 1924) Fencer at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Giorgio Coda (wiki, b. 1924) Psychiatrist and academic. Supposedly still alive in 2019, but I'm not 100% convinced. Lino Cauzzo (wiki, b. 1924) Footballer, played for Juventus in the 1940s. Piero Trapanelli (wiki, b. 1924) Footballer, played for A.C. Milan in the 1940s, was a football manager as late as the 1970s. Roberto Mauri (wiki, b. 1924) Actor, director and screenwriter, some dubious sources say died 2007, other dubious sources say died 2017. Nothing concrete. Tullio Altamura (wiki, b. 1924) Actor in spaghetti westerns. Giambattista Bonis (wiki, b. 1926) Footballer, played for Inter Milan's predecessor in the 1940s. If anyone out there knows of a site where you can access the Italian birth/death records, please tell me.

He's deceased as per this, which used to be cited on his Wiki page. For some reason, another user scrubbed it, whether that be by accident or otherwise. I've restored it. Edit: The user who removed the death information from his page was blocked from editing in 2021 due to persistent vandalism.

    Academic Footnotes

Ted Cowan (wiki), Scottish historian, dead at 77 from lung cancer. Present at the opening of the Scottish Parliament in 1999. Would be good to see a comprehensive list of all those who had a part in the ceremony. I note Sean Connery was there (who obviously died not too long back) and Winnie Ewing is surely away to kick the bucket. Anyone else we should be watching? Times obit.

    Betty White

The Golden Girls, as I stated on an earlier post, is genius and I recommend it to anyone. Yet I still don't get the whole "Saint Betty" stuff. A tad weird, and a bit creepy(?) as well. I think it's because she had this persona of a nice, friendly, and funny old lady so people really warmed to her, but Toast hits the nail on the head with that post above. It's the arrogance from others. This attitude of "I love her and therefore you must love her too or else", which is rather baffling.
