Doesn’t help that the Malaysian media keep killing him off in tweets then deleting them. Useless fact about Mahathir Mohamad – he is one of just 4 living people who attended Lady Thatcher’s funeral who were born before her. The other three are Baroness Jill Knight, Henry Kissinger and Lord Henry Plumb.

Sir David Jason turns 82 in 10 days. Whilst he looks quite ropey, his brother, actor Arthur White turns 89 in September. I think he'll go first.

I know that's what people are saying on social media but it doesn't satisfy my curiosity to know of Skip Moore's fate. He only drummed on their first release, got paid $25 and agreed to take no royalties, then left the group immediately. There is no mention of him after 1960. Given that the other 4 mentioned above were all born mid-1930s, Skip Moore could realistically still be alive.

Updated the entry for The Ventures following the death of Don Wilson, aged 88. He was also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Now, the question is, is short-lived drummer Skip Moore still with us?

This one definitely screams Quentin Blake to me.

Very good list @msc, but Faye Adams is likely dead.

Purple House Press announcing via Facebook the death of Roger Bradfield (wiki), American children's writer, illustrator and cartoonist, aged 97–98. His illustrations look very similar to that of Sir Quentin Blake if you ask me.

As requested by @drol... Here are the living subjects of Carl Van Vechten (1880–1964), photographed between 1932 and 1964: Adele Addison (wiki, b. 1925) American lyric soprano Don Bachardy (wiki, b. 1934) American portrait artist, partner of Christopher Isherwood Harry Belafonte (wiki, b. 1927) American singer-songwriter Joyce Bryant (wiki, b. 1927) American singer and actress Frederick Buechner (wiki, b. 1926) American novelist and poet Roy Eaton (wiki, b. 1930) American painter Richard T. Gibson (b. 1931) American journalist and activist. No Wiki page, interviewed several years ago, appears to live in the UK now. Reri Grist (wiki, b. 1932) American coloratura soprano Afrika Hayes (b. 1933) American soprano and music educator, daughter of tenor and composer Roland Hayes. No Wiki page. Leo Holder (b. 1958) American graphic artist, son of Carmen de Lavallade (below) and Geoffrey Holder. No Wiki page, still active though. John Terry Hornblow (b. 1931) American son of producer Arthur Hornblow Jr. No Wiki page, living according to the U.S. residency records. Marilyn Horne (wiki, b. 1934) American mezzo-soprano opera singer Raymond Jackson (b. 1933) American concert pianist. No Wiki page, personal website here. Margie Lou King Barab (b. 1932) American singer and actress. No Wiki page, living according to the U.S. residency records. George Lamming (wiki, b. 1927) Barbadian novelist, essayist and poet Philip Langner (b. 1926) American producer, son of Lawrence Langner. No Wiki page, wife's obit from a few years ago says he's alive. Carmen de Lavallade (wiki, b. 1931) American dancer and choreographer, widow of the great Geoffrey Holder. Robert Morse (wiki, b. 1931) American actor and singer Peter Perenyi (b. 1940) American son of Eleanor Perenyi. No Wiki page because not notable in his own right, gave an interview last year. Leontyne Price (wiki, b. 1927) American soprano George Shirley (wiki, b. 1934) American operatic tenor I went through his entire collection here to get this info. There may be one or two more living subjects, but some are just too obscure to track down a fate for. When I get time, I'll also look at the earlier portraits of Allan Warren, which consist of mainly British subjects – royalty, aristocracy, actors and writers etc.

@Gisooo good spot! She had some leading roles in the Golden Age of Hollywood, plus a supporting role in The Body Snatcher opposite Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff. I've sent this to two different people in the film press who I think may cover it.

U23s team. Are we reporting on the deaths of non-professional players now? Christ.

A unique pick on the DDP. QOs: The Sun, Independent, Daily Mail.

Bowie you found annoying but you love Sting? Get out. @Paul Bearer, perma ban please.

5/15 of your team are dead in just 21 days?! Very impressive.

Fred Moore (wiki), Australian miner and trade unionist who campaigned for workers rights and Aboriginal rights, dead at 99.
-
Leonor Oyarzún (wiki), Chile's First Lady from 1990 to 1994, is dead at 102. A unique DDP pick. Her profile on the DDP says born in 1922, when she was actually born in 1919 so that will need changed. Will she get a QO? Tough one.

That’s 3 of the top 15 oldest gone within the first 3 weeks of 2022.

I've checked Ancestry family trees and Newspapers.com. Nothing. I'm not subscribed to the Canadian newspaper archives so can't check there. My hunch is that she's still alive. She received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012, so she's very much been on the radar within the last decade, and if she died I'm sure it would be publicised.

I always got Sir David Cox confused with Sir David Butler. Both British. Both called David. Both knighted. Both dealt with statistics. Both born in 1924. One key difference now... Sir David Butler is still alive, though statistically unlikely to live to cover another UK general election.

Guardian obit for John Pett (wiki), British documentary-maker who died back on 30 November 2021, aged 94. I wanted to mention him because he directed 3 episodes of The World at War, one of the best documentary series ever made in my opinion.
