Haha I’m very familiar! Just doubt there’s many siblings both born in the 1910s and died in the 2020s, so I find it especially interesting that a household name like Kirk Douglas and his sister did. The odds of that must be astronomically small

Look up Irving Kahn + siblings

    or Maggie Renfro + siblings

Two siblings born in the 1910s both lived to see the 2020s!

Wait until you hear about these things called supercentenarians!

Does someone knows if Yvonne Furneaux French-British actress, aged 97 is alive ?
All I know is that she is widowed since the death of French husband Jacques Natteau in 2007 years and she lives in Geneva. But I don’t know is she is alive because there are no recent photo or interviews of her.

Odd timing. I watched a movie of hers the other night. Furneaux wouldn’t die off radar.

Though there is some controversy as to whether she was born in 1928 or 1926.

I think we discussed her before? Seem to be having deja vu.

He was essentially the only producer who could get a western musical into China, and was well known in the industry for doing so over the years. His work domestically was pretty good, but his work in China opened up the market to a lot of western companies (especially Disney) in the last decade or two. Didn't know him personally, but knew people who've dealt with him.

I see you just read his Wiki page.

Toby Simkin, theatre producer and the first man to sell tickets for performances on a new-fangled thing called "the internet" in the mid-90s, dead at 59. Normally wouldn't have posted, but he hits one of my favourite niches for dead celebs: people who clearly wrote their own Wikipedia entry.

I went on his Wiki page earlier and groaned when I saw it.

"Simkin co-produced shows that have collectively garnered 3 Tony Awards (and 5 nominations), 7 Drama Desk Awards, 4 Outer Critics Circle Awards, 2 Lucille Lortel Awards, 3 Drama League Awards, 1 Theatre World Award, 1 Olivier Award, 3 OBIE Awards and 1 Pulitzer Prize. Shows that Simkin was involved in marketing have garnered an additional 243 Tony nominations and 96 wins"[3]

I think we previously discussed that Hoather had a FB page which may throw some light on the others since we last talked about them. Don't know if you tried to contact him or got anything then, but it's been 4 years.

Forgot about that. Will have a look later.

Just tested my theory on the Who link being dubious. Mike Wakelin was born in Essex in 1941 as Michael A Wakelin. He doesn't show up in the GRO up to 2021, isn't in the Probates after that, and according to 192.com, was alive as recently as 2020. Looking like he's still around, so Hoather probably isn't the only surviving member, hence the odd wording in the link.

I became intrigued by The Naturals recently.

Interesting. There's this which is a possible obit for Curt Cresswell from 2018: https://www.saffronwaldenreporter.co.uk/memorials/death-notices/death/30384999.curtis-william-cresswell-curt/

There's also this, an article bearing to be from October 2023 which indicates that Roy Hoather is the surviving member of the band: https://www.thewho.info/Other0.htm

Don't know if further investigation might throw something up? Difficult one, I know.

Thanks for this @YoungWillz! That is indeed a death notice for Cresswell. As there was only one Curtis Cresswell born in 1946–1948, plus the area concerned is also a match.

As for the others, I will add a note to the listing with that Who link. The wording bothers me slightly. It says "the surviving". If they had said "the last surviving" then I would have been more happy to mark all the others as deceased but I want to err on the side of caution to make room for any potential oversights.

Honestly surprised this hasn’t gotten national news coverage, especially since his songs have been all throughout Hollywood movies.

Dude, it’s been little over an hour. Patience.

  10. Of note, Doug Hoyle was the last living MP who represented the now abolished seat of Warrington.

His death also leaves Lord John Lee (wiki), 81, as the last living MP to have represented the now abolished seat of Nelson and Cole. Lee was a Tory MP from 1979 to 1992. He publicly defected to the Lib Dems in 2001, and was given a peerage from them in 2006.

Warrington Guardian have gone for 97, Lancashire Telegraph have gone for 94.

Warrington Guardian and Lancashire Telegraph have now amended their articles.

Guardian obit confirms born 17 Feb 1926 in Coppull, a village by Chorley. Did not serve in WWII.

ITV is giving his age as 98. Error?

    This is correct actually.

The birth records don't like. Eric D H Hoyle, born in Chorley on 17 Feb 1926.

Wowza. Everywhere has it wrong, even Who's Who!

Not exactly a by-election but I'm not thinking to start another thread for the non-event of Police and Crime Commissioner elections. Interesting development in Cumbria (where the post also includes responsibility for the fire service). The incumbent - Peter McCall (Conservative) -  has done two terms and isn't standing again, though the Conservatives do have another candidate. The problem is, as things stand, he's currently the only candidate!

For the love of god please don’t bother. There’s a general political discussion thread. PCCs are the most boring and pointless things in the whole of the UK political system.
