  1. I agree that he was a brilliant comic actor, you couldn't really put up with the endless repeats of Poridge otherwise.

    Looking back at the early entries on this thread, I see no mention of any heart trouble - just that he'd closed his shop (surely a sign that his life was winding down) and something about his son (not actually specified).

    So although he appeared on the DL radar, we never really put the pieces together to make him a viable candidate in time.

    Is this our bad?

    Was it the tribute show that put us off the scent?

  2. [mea culpa] I am at a loss as to why I would reveal this to complete strangers, but I actually have a signed photo of Susie Dent. They presumably have plenty of perverts (not that I'm one of them :) ) asking for this type of paraphenalia; she's wearing the most abhorrent multi-coloured blouse and almost scowling in the photo, I presume to deter any further stalking-related advances. [/mea culpa]

    So it's sort of like aversion therapy then.

    Maybe this could be the basis for a new thread - of whom do you own a signed photo, and why did you ask for it.

  3. Great Train Robber Ronnie Biggs is going on hunger strike in jail, his son has said.

    :lol:

    ...And yet he hasn't starved to death/died of other causes, despite being "extremely ill". I think you try too hard Ronnie.

  4. So the thing is Jim Doohan had no middle finger on his right hand.  Watch old Star Trek episodes and movies.  You won't see his right hand in anything other than odd angles or clenched fist.

    Except for "The trouble with Tribbles", where they messed up and you can see his missing finger. (Or not see it rather... you know what I mean.)

  5. call me a naive American living in England, but what exactly is so bad about Tony Blair? OK, Iraq's been a mess, but he was just trying to be a good buddy to the US, got some dodgy info (does anyone actually believe the UK would have gone ahead with the invasion if Blair knew there were no WMD's in Iraq?

    I think the problem is that it appears to be a classic "Causa Belli". The U.S. decided it wanted to invade Iraq and came up with the reason later.

    And yes I do believe that Blair knew Iraq had no WMD.

  6. What as dyslexia got to do with anything? and can i just say petes not the only one who understands me hes just very talented and good lookin. B)

    Congratulations on registering. I just hope your future posts continue to give me as much amusement as your guest/ranter type ones.

  7. The death of Ford is imminent.

    Okay I'm really getting sick of these "xxyyz death is iminent" type messages.

    Especially from an unregistered and unnamed guest. If you want your message to be taken seriously please include URLs/references to back up the decline of "xxyyz".

  8. I VOTE IN JOHN KENNETH GALBRAITH. THE FAMOUS KEYNESIAN ECONOMIST HAVE THE HEALTH VERY POOR.

    Excellent another opportunity to mock someone who posts in all caps. Except I can't really be bothered today. Look just try turning your caps lock off occasionally, you might get to like it.

  9. But banshees, its took three weeks. What is remarkable is the guest in the Wiesethal thread who said his death was very close just a few days before he died.  ;)

    <sceptic/>

    Yes but we have people making posts like that all the time.

    Is it really that much of a surprise that due to coincidence, occasionally one gets it right?

    </sceptic>

  10. If only Nixon had gone ahead and "Dropped the big one on Hanoi"!

    Well boy would that make America popular!

    Plus of course the Russians would probably retaliate - not with nuclear weapons initially but conventionally, possibly against West Berlin.

    My prediction - if Nixon "Dropped the big one on Hanoi" the world would have slipped into WWIII within six months.

    Perhaps that would have kept people in their place.

    If their place is to be dead, then yes.

  11. He did speak to Ron Reagan by phone on his show after Peter Jennings death.

    Is that a special clairvoyant phone for talking to the recently deceased?

    Ron Reagan (talk show host) is the son of the late former U.S. President, Ronald Reagan.

    Ron Reagan

    (Wikipedia)

    Ah-ha now I understand!
