^ This looks promising (for DL purposes if not for the man himself)

Now then Windsor, I'm sure you know that even in the UK it was legal for girls to marry at the age of 12 as recently as 1929 (and much more recently in Ireland, sometime in the 1970s methinks).
The article doesn't state where they were married, but as they were both born in the Punjab, it's quite possible that they were married there and came to the UK later in life. As I understand it, such young brides are not unusual in India, even today.
regards,
Hein
That's what I inferred from the article as well.

I just don't know how anyone could not like Raging Bull. I just watched it again last night and Robert Di Niro did an amazing job in that film. He deserved every inch of that academy award for the roll he portrayed.
But he didn't win one.
The quote didn't say he did; it merely said he deserved it.

Disgraced Canadian newsman, and British "Lord" despite never spending the formative years within British society, licks on the Frozen "pop" of the Hag (pun on Mag) of Hell. HELL HAG. FUCK YOU. Anyways you fucktard who fucked around with the Calgary Herald and National Post, why don't YOU pay for her funeral?
Conrad Black's nose does seem to be exceptionally brown. I wonder why he thinks people will respect Thatcher because a convicted fraudster says she was good?

If this one passes the DL's fame test, then I'm a banana.
James Randi is famous in Australia for being on the receiving end of this rant by American-born talk show host, Don Lane.
haha that's classic! Apparently the audience applauded Lane for the rant, but he was then forced to offer an apology to Randi.

James Bond can never die!

Most significant death of 2011? Dennis Ritchie.
Maybe "most influential person to have died who wasn't as famous as they should have been".
But not most significant.
-
The more universal list for 2011 would read something like:
January: Pete Postlethwaite or Gerry Rafferty
February: Jane Russell
March: Elizabeth Taylor
April: Sidney Lumet
May: Osama Bin Laden
June: Peter Falk
July: Amy Winehouse
August: John Howard Davies (really only because no-one else of note died in this month)
September: Cliff Robertson
October: Steve Jobs (narrowly beating Muammar Gaddafi)
November: Joe Frazier (for significance) or Gary Speed (for shock value)
December: Kim Jong-il
Most significant deaths of 2011 IMHO:
1. Bin Laden
2. Jobs
3= Gaddafi
3= Taylor
5. Winehouse

Happy new year! As you know, I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but if the first death of 2012 doesn't happen today then you'll be behind last year, which was one of the worst years ever for deathlist. So the grim reaper better get a move on!
It doesn't matter.
We could have no deaths until December, then 25 hits to Christmas.
That sounds like the beginnings of a perfect deathlist Christmas song !!
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, a grave for Lady T...

Is this notaguest again?

I support this choice on the 2012 DL.
-
Not really sure why he is on the list.

Are you Ian Hislop?

Nelson Mandela is "hale and hearty", according to the South African governent.
"The former president is in good health, good spirits and enjoying the festive season at his home in Qunu in the Eastern Cape,''I wouldn't take SA's government's words as gospel.
I dropped Mandela from my DDP team, by reason of disappointing effort. Did I make a mistake?

Hein
I don't think so. I have a feeling that he will still be alive come the end of 2012.
-
I see there are a good collection of nonagenarians in this year's list, fingers crossed it won't be too long before the first contender drops!
PS. Clive Dunn is 92 this year, not 90 as it states on the front page.
-
Bhumibol Adulyadej.
-
Nelson Mandela. He will live through 2012, mark my words!
-
Come on you hag, die within the next 4 hours and give us all a merry new year!
PS. apologies to those who may see this thread as recently updated and believe that Thatcher has already died.

The British pop music industry is mourning the death of Mike Smith http://www.independe...es-6283369.html
So he was 'the man who turned down the Beatles'. What a fool

Tell me - do I have a shit sense of humour, or is Russell Brand just a shit comedian? I don't find him funny in the slightest.
Shit comedian. Shit person.
Agreed!
That's not a nice way to talk about Windsor!

He was on the BBC last night as part of the David Croft tribute programme and still looks very fit and healthy.
Those who are immortal often do.

Mugabe is holidaying in Asia with his family: http://www.newzimbab...+Asia/news.aspx
Or perhaps...
Ailing Mugabe has been rushed to Asia for medical treatment: http://nehandaradio....-for-treatment/
I think he'd be a brilliant candidate for 2012.
Excellent choice, IMO. It'd be his second time as a DL candidate.
regards,
Hein
Agreed. It's time for the last of the infamous dictators to fall!
Still a couple more yet though , fidel castro, raul castro and hugo Chavez.
Call me sentimental but Fidel Castro deserves a slightly higher place in history than just being a dictator.
