    Kim Jong-Il

G'day forumers I shudder to think the chances are there will be some sort of nuclear accident which will take out both Kim Jong-il and a large portion of his country. Even by North Korean standards I hope they know what they are playing with.

    Susan Atkins

What, like murdering a heavily pregnant woman and tasting her blood? Or performing a sex act on her baby son? and yet Jade Goody seems to be more hated... Anyway she's up for parole in the next couple of days so we'll see if there is any news on her health then. This cow is annoying me big time...why hasn't she died ???? There are many of us counting the points..... G'Day to all. With all the references to "hatred" and "throwing stones" at Susan Atkins - Do I detect the possibility of a lynching?

    Hooroo, Mate.

G'Day all. Just replying to the accusation the Bud Tingwell is only 86. I Have a link here that claims his year of birth is 1917. Why are you calling me "Spring Chicken"? Also we MUST include Rose Porteous-Hancock (61) - Australia's answer to Anna Nicole-Smith but no-where near as attractive as Smith was. She NEEDS to be included on the list as she appears to be ill and the list would be incomplete without her anyway. I cannot remember where the link I had was for him being 86. I think 86 is correct. I was calling him a spring chicken, namely young compared to 92. Jeanette Howard ought to be considered too. He was 86, as I said, but as reported, he now won't get to 92. G'day Applecool Downunder. What can I say, you were right. But I hope you'll agree with me at least on this - Bud Tingwell will be sorely missed and Australian TV will never be the same without him. R.I.P. Bud.

    Pope Benedict XVI

G'Day every person. I know of at least one pope who was assassinated. I'm currently conducting historical research on The Great Western Schism and in answer to Faustus' question on assassinated popes - the Roman pope Urban VI was killed painfully (should be enough to satisfy all present on the forum) "...through poisoning, on October 15, 1389." as Dietrich of Niem chronicled.

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2010

G'Day fellow death-listers. Hope everyone had a good Easter, or at least a good holiday. mine was quite eventful and it has prompted me to propose an idea to the forum, but first I will recount the events of Easter Monday. I had gone home to celebrate Easter with my family, as one does. As the weekend progressed I caught up with my cousin (who I hardly see these days) and in a vain attempt to recapture our youth, we decided to put the afternoon of Easter Monday aside and go fishing. We scouted our old fishing spots but moved on as, due to the drought, they were sub-par. My cousin suggested that we try a new spot; the billabong at the railway bridge. When we arrived we could not get a good casting spot, so we climbed up the river bank and decided to cast our lines from the bridge. The bridge spans a gap that is roughly 100 meters (328 feet) give or take and the distance from the bridge to the river is about 4 floors down, its a deep gap. After about 45 minutes of uneventful fishing I was on my second beer, I just happened to look down the track to see a train rushing towards us. At first I thought I was seeing things but my cousin quickly confirmed I wasn't and so began a frenzied run off the bridge. I would like to stop the story here and mention that due to a sporting injury in my youth I'm crippled in the left leg and need the aid of a walking cane, naturally sprinting is difficult for me. Despite this I managed to keep my pace and we made it off no more than five seconds before the train thundered past. So in need of clean undies we retrieved our gear which was still on the bridge, all that was left was my cousins tackle box and my cooler bag with the beer, I'd left it in the middle of the tracks. Our rods, my cane and my tacklebox were either destroyed by the train or lost at the bottom of the river. I do not know what possessed us to do such a stupid thing and a lot of people reading this will probably agree on the stupidity. but we came through it safely and I'm a bit wiser for the experience (next time I'll take a train schedule). I would like to know; if I start a thread (hopefully I won't bullocks it up this time) where deathlisters can post their near death experiences, in the spirit of the Darwin Awards, would you guys post there?

G'Day Everyone. Hope everyone enjoyed their Easters. It was reported today by the Age Newspaper that Aussie billionaire and Visy man Richard Pratt (74) is close to dying from the prostate cancer he has had for a while now. Poor old bloke, maybe they'll bury him in one of his cardboard boxes.

    Edward Kennedy/Curse of the Kennedys

G'day everyone. Did anyone else see Ted Kennedy at the Red sox game. Good to see him up and about! Not much strength in the ol'pitching arm though, but the old fella had been through a lot and he seems to be enjoying himself

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2010

G'Day all. I was pondering some possibilities on another thread when I began to entertain the notion that... What happens if an entry on the deathlist dies for a fleeting moment, say on the operating table, then is quickly revived and lives out the rest of the year? Does that individual count as a hit as they were physically dead? or because they are revived it doesn't count? I know the chances of this actually happening are slim at best but I thought I'd mention my conundrum to the forum. Also my prediction for this thread is self-proclaimed TV talk to the dead guy - John Edward - but we won't realize this until he starts talking to himself.

G'Day all. We can't forget the following... Lou Richards (86) - former AFL footballer and TV presenter, suffered a rather nasty fall a while back. Bud Tingwell (92) - Brilliant Australian Actor, but getting on a bit though. Richard Pratt (74) - Billionaire and former president of Carlton Footy Club. Nancy Wake (96) - The White Mouse - New Zealander claimed as Australian. (as we so often do) Betty Cuthbert (70) - Olympian. Geoffrey Blainey (79) - Esteemed, though somewhat controversial, Historian. Mark "Chopper" Read (54) - Ex-convict, apparently he only has a few years left in the tank. Dr. Peter Hollingworth (73) - Anglican Priest & Ex-Governor-General, HURRY UP and met your maker! Nikki Webster (21) - If nobody else does, I will. The slow and prolonged act of dying by the Chanel 9 network. Here is my list of 10. I know most of my sources are from Wiki and in my line of work it's taboo to use Wiki, but I like using the link function and figure that on an online forum you can generally get way with it.

    The Dead Of 2009

Not really that interesting, just trying out the "Add Link" function, but... Does Simon Beasley's career count?

    Prince Philip Duke Of Edinburgh

I agree with Windsor. Why are we still obsessed with what comes out of Prince Phillips mouth? the man puts his foot in it all the time, mildly entertaining at best. Besides they are meeting at Buckingham Palace, and a man shouldn't have to censor himself in his own home. President Obama seemed to smile at the remark.

    The Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Thread

G'Day again everyone. Talking about people starting with 'Z' 2 people come to mind. American Professor, author and Historian Howard Zinn (86) - there is a biography of him on Wiki. Also a must have on the list of people with Z last names is Catherine Zeta-Jones-Douglas-Sheherazade-Chirsty-Mariette-Beatriz-Maya-Kitty-Maya-Victoria Chapman-Eustacia Vye-Catherine II-Chloe-Sala-Isabella Paradine-Elena Montero / Elena Murrieta (Elena de la Vega)-Zorro-Banderas-Virginia Baker-Theo-Charlie Nicholson-Helena Ayala-Gwen Harrison-Velma Kelly-Marina-Marylin Rexroth-Amelia Warren-Isabel Lahiri-Clooney-Elena de la Vega Murrieta-Kate Armstrong-Mary McGarvie-Sandy-No doubt more to come (39) She's still a long way off DL though.

New Here And Just Saying Hello - 2009

I guess you mean an avatar? Go to 'my controls' at the top of the page, you should be looking at your control panel. There is an option to edit avatar settings, you can chose one of ours or add your own. And welcome to DL! Ta for the tip mate, seems to have worked OK, and ta for the welcome everyone.

New Here And Just Saying Hello - 2009

G'Day everyone. I'm the moron who made a fool of himself earlier this week by inadvertently starting a new thread on a now pointless topic. My condolences to England for their loss of former Big Brother contestant Jade Goody, I wish some of the Australian Big Brother contestants would do the same. Sorry to out burst like that. but the Aussie version was a really bad show. I couldn't help but notice that when I googled Jade Goody, an option was "Jade Goody dies - Yahoo!". Also how does one put a picture under ones name?

G'Day fellow Melbournian. Yeah I figured you guys may have already mentioned Brian. But I thought I needed something to break the ice.

    Australian Bushfire Victims.

G'Day Everyone. This is my first post and I know this is a bit out of date, but I only discovered this site last week. On Feb 7th the tragic bushfire that swept across Victoria Australia claimed the lives of esteemed former news reader Brian Naylor (78) and his wife Moiree. They died trying to save their home. Also victim of the fire was actor Reg Evens (80) and his wife Angela Brunton, who also died trying to save their home. Evens is best remembered for his role as the station master in the Mad Max films. Victoria usually copes with an annual bushfire, despite the state government ban on high country cattle grazing which causes the dry undergrowth to become fuel for the fire, but this year the fires were so fast (people only had 5 minutes to react) and devastating that it claimed over 200 lives. Tragically, forensics has only identified roughly 60 of the bodies, a work in progress. I know that Reg and Brian may be unknown to most of you, but they were celebrities here in Australia and I thought it a fitting tribute to include them alongside fellow celebrities. You'll have to forgive me for not including pictures and links as I'm still getting used to this site. any advice?
