French racing driver Pierre Veyron died 45 years ago aged 67. He was the winner of the 1939 24 hours of Le Mans and Bugatti test driver. The Bugatti Veyron is named in his honour. He also received the Legion D'Honneur for his work during WWII where he served with the resistance.

Penelope Houston, editor of the BFI magazine Sight & Sound for 35 years has died aged 88. She was also a film critic for The Times and The Observer and wrote for The Guardian. Other Observer film critics are probably feeling nervous about now.
