"She was released from prison two years ago, after serving nearly 30 years" so not sure how she's saved the taxpayers money. You got me--victim of my own presumptions :-(How a person on death row has anything less than life without parole I do not know. Learn something new every day. SC Perhaps if you'd read the report you'd linked to...

She only sold 300,000 poppies in 76 years? If she had a 5-day-week and worked about 200 days each year, then that's 15200 days of work in 76 years, or about 20 poppies each day. Hmm... is it custom to buy just one of them or several at once? If the latter is the case, then that rate is indeed a bit poor... Poppies are only supposed to be sold for the two weeks leading up to remembrance Sunday.

It would appear that 73 year old BASE jumper, James Hickey (for it were he), set his parachute on fire as part of the stunt. There's online video if you'd care to look (I didn't) according to the report.

I guess the source might be Eddie's own revelation, reported by The Independent. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/little-and-large-havent-spoken-for-a-long-time-1988413.html But hard evidence? Should they wiretap to check whether they really don't speak to each other? Maybe the fact that they didn't sue the Independent for libel can be regarded as indirect evidence. Cheers, more a case of drifting apart, then. He sounds more chipper than I expected. 15 million people watched them, that is truly a mark of the lack of choice available then, eh? I mean, it's not like they keep repeating their "classic" sketches, like Morecambe and Wise, is it? Morecambe and Wise would draw over 20 million in their heyday. But then again they were actually funny. I watched perhaps a couple of episodes of Little and Large, but I fail to remember any specific sketches that they did or any of their jokes. *Steps back in amazement*

I believe the creator of the Lamaze birthing method was Dr. Fernand Lamaze. Bing, however the co-founder of Lamaze International. If she had created the method, along with the co-founder of Lamaze International, then it would be either the Bing Birthing Method, or the Karmel-Bing Birthing Method Is there a Google Birthing Method? I'm not sure I dare to ask this, but what would that involve? Ask Jeeves. Yahoo!

Has his own thread. Thought this would have hit much more widely if true, even if speculation. I think, looking at several 'news' items on that site, we can safely disregard this as a hoax. (Cue BBC Breaking News.....)

Today is the 33rd anniversary of (US)American racing car driver Gordon Smiley, who died in a single-car crash during qualifying for the Indy 500. The account by medical director Steve Olvey indicates it was a particularly grisly death There's crash footage online for those ghoulish enough to want to see it.

I've known two people recently that changed their name. Showing remarkable lack of imagination, both chose 'Smith'.

If ABBA were to re-form, they'd have to do with out their bass player Rutger Gunnarsson, who's died suddenly aged 69. Here he is performing with them at the '74 Eurovision Song Contest.

Ahh, nursing home savvy!! I can see Mary seizing the opportunity here and doing a Bill Sykes by getting you to break into Brinsworth House and the like to go and open the front door for him. He will be up and down the corridors making notes for hours. Top work lads, you've just reminded me that I came across a 'client' at work today who has his own Wiki page, not a guarantee of an obit I know, but I think he'll get one somewhere - now, how can I ensure the old git hangs on till January 1st, because I'd bet my boots he'd be a unique pick for Lard! 'client' eh?
