Former "Alice In Chains" bassist Mike Starr has been found dead. He formerly featured in VH1's "Celebrity Rehab". Foul Play is not suspected.

In the excitement of Sir Patrick's 700th "The Sky at Night", we seem to have omitted to celebrate Sir Patrick's 88th birthday last Friday. Another 100 (monthly) shows would take us to July 2019; Sir Patrick would by that time be 96.

The man who made Ladbrokes what it is, Cyril Stein has died aged 82. Not a name I'd ever heard (Cyril Stein, that is, not Ladbrokes), he also owned all the non-US Hilton hotels at one time. Under his ownership they more than quadrupled in value in 4 years.

Motor-cycle diarist Alberto Granado has died aged 88. His companion, for those not getting the "Motorcycle Diaries" reference, was one Che Guevara.

While I'm here... Edwin Kilbourne, a virologist who, seemingly single-handedly, developed the annual 'flu vaccine, has died aged 90. No cause of death revealed, but one would hope 'flu is not implicated.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, Blair River has died. He was 6' 8" and weighed about 575 lbs (or a little over 41 stone in proper money). He was a spokesman for the "Heart Attack Grill". Cause of death is unknown but friends are speculating its a result of pneumonia after a bout of flu. Restaurant owner John Basso said Can't think what he might mean!

He's been battling prostate cancer for quite a few years now. Could be a sign to keep him in mind for next year He was suffering from chest pains and is now "a bit shaken but absolutely fine", according to his son in this report.
