Its the 88th birthday of Midlands broadcasting legend Tony Butler. OK? ok.

Its 32 years since the death of British actor Ronald Lacey. After graduating from LAMDA he became a familiar face on TV screens, with guest appearances in many popular programmes of the 60s and 70s, such as Dixon of Dock Green, Minder and The BIll, and a memorable role as Harris in Porridge as well as a singular memorable appearance in Blackadder II as the Bishop of Bath and Wells. He's probably most famous as the Nazi agent Toht in Raiders of the Lost Ark, a role which lead to a short Hollywood career playing villains opposite the likes of Schwarzenegger & Eastwood, and showing his versatility, two drag roles (Trenchcoat & Invitation to the Wedding). He was diagnosed with liver cancer in April 1991, and died less than a month later.

60's singer Joe Brown is 82 today. He came close to qualifying for Kill or Save (with his Bruvvers), but not close enough. This reached number 2 in 1962; despite it technically being a B-Side, this got the airplay and became the hit (the A-Side being the largely forgotten A Lay-About's Lament)
