Half the 'news' reports in our local paper are by-lined Jane Doe AI-assisted Reporter. Its hard to tell where the actual reportage stops and the AI-assistance comes in. -

Who tf is putting plates in a dishwasher without scraping the leftovers into a bin? Reminds me of the time when I was working behind a bar and a colleague used the glasswasher to wash a couple of bowls that had been used for cheesy chips. Melted cheese everywhere.

Presumably, it was also Cross operating the effects pedals. Maybe one of our resident musicians can confirm that playing bass plus effects is a more difficult skill to master than just playing bass alone.

Actress Gabrielle Drake is 80 today. After a series of one-off appeances in popular TV shows of the day she came to prominence as Lt. Gay Ellis, Moonbase commander in the early 70s science fiction show UFO before leaving to pursue other opportunities, which turned out to be a mix of roles in 'sex' films such as Suburban Wives & Au Pair Girls and more TV guest appearances before landing a part in drama series The Brothers, as Jill, girlfriend then wife of david, one of the aforementioned brothers, before being killed off (followed by more guest appearances and a few recurring roles). She is also the sister of the late songwriter Nick Drake (1948-1974). -
Just a suggestion but "the press" could actually do some checking before printing a story as 'fact'.

I wouldn't argue with any figure Sharkey states - he's far more knowledgeable on the subject than me. Privatisation of water supply was the most egregious of all the privatisations of the Thatcher era. Purely ideological reasoning. -
I don't know the answer to mpfc's question, but I do know it's not Cassie, the widow of Mike Winters, as she died in April 2022.

Regarding recent discussions on what (or who) exactly is a 'nonce', according to someone on Xwitter it stands for "Not on normal courtyard exercise". Which is as convoluted (and inaccurate) a backronym as "chav" standing for "council house and violent/ce"

Sadly, this is not just confined to the privatised English water companies. https://news.stv.tv/scotland/sewage-dumped-in-scotlands-rivers-and-lochs-more-than-600-hours-a-day-in-2023 (Who's going to tell the PA journos that there are only 24 hours in a day?). I'm fully in agreement with your comments re Gove. That Colombian marching powder has affected his memory or summat. -
