just a few low-effort suggestions for consideration: Rick Davies (singer, Supertramp): diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2015 (5 years survival rate is 57%). in 2018 indicated he was 'doing much better', but is also an intensely private individual and will likely pull an 'Alan Rickman' or 'Neil Peart' and not announce any health declines Ray Anthony (big band leader "The Hokey Pokey"): turns 100 in January Berry Gordy (founder of Motown Records): not in any ill health as far as I can find, but is turning 92 next year. is mostly one of those "oh wow, he's still alive!?" recommendations Alice Munro (author and nobel-laureate): skipped the Nobel ceremony citing ill health (and that was years ago), previous cancer battle, underwent bypass surgery, another intensely private person that we may not hear from until their death Marianne Faithful (singer/songwriter, actress): History of drug abuse, Hep-C, previous bout of cancer, got hit hard by Covid and pneumonia and is still recovering a year later

i thought he was a unique pick for me this year, but after some forum searching i think bibliogryphon actually had him on their list last year. my bad for unintentionally stealing a unique pick from someone else and then putting it forward as a suggestion to everybody on the forum. ether way, he was a great author and person (i loved the drawings that he posted on twitter on every holiday). rip

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive
wildstorm replied to Catherine's topic in DeathList Forum
the song "Convoy" came on the radio the other day. amazingly, the singer C. W. McCall is still alive at 92... it's only his career that died. don't know if anyone outside of north america would recognize this song, so i'm not sure how obit-worthy he would be in the UK. fun fact, apparently he was the mayor of a city in colorado? -

since Moore is down with the sickness, I'll go back to Spinks

for those curious, last update on twitter says he was back in hospital (re-tweeted by his brother Michael) on December 19. can’t seem to find any updates on his condition since then, so make of this news what you will.

if armed rioters braking into the U.S. capitol and chanting to murder the vice president can easily be dismissed as “news just being sensationalist”, I’m (legit) curious how far this would need to go to get him/her to stop and say “hold up, this doesn’t seem right”.

we call that “pulling a Bracknell”

Spinks has reportedly been in hospital since the 19th, he gets my vote

former canadian PM Brian Mulroney had emergency surgery recently. we can treat 2021 as an opportunity to see how he’s coming along. he’ll be 82 in march similar with Eric Carle (“The Very Hungry Caterpillar” author) who was in hospital earlier this year for unspecified reasons, but i’m guessing is okay (no update on his website but the previous message about his hospital stay has been removed). turns 92 in june. June Lockhart: not sure how obit-worthy she is in the UK, but will be 96 this year. seems to have been active right up until the pandemic so didn’t think it was worth putting forth to the committee as a 2021 contender. (you’re welcome for offering unique picks)

Spinks (he’s been [reportedly] in the hospital since the 19th. we’ll see if he can see the year out)
