Professor Harold Hill himself, Robert Preston, dead this day in 1987, thankfully ensuring he never had to suffer through the Matthew Broderick remake of The Music Man. Matthew Broderick also killed two people, by the by. -
Although, then again....

Kudos to everyone who took a punt on the canuck crackfiend.

Yeah, he was a DDP pick in 2015 and probably would have been a bigger favourite amongst the main teams if he hadn't announced remission in, what, October 2014?
-
Gonna pick Carrington until he goes I think.

Daniels was too busy being racist to nonce, imho

Right, going to reopen this barrel of worms (frogs legs?) again.... if QOs include, and I quote, "those on the death announcements section of broadsheet websites", then the fact that an obituary is created from a letter should have no bearing on whether it is a QO or not. Under the rules of the DDP, if not the spirit, this counts as a Delpech obituary. If Death Announcements were banned from being QOs (a move I would welcome), then I wouldn't be arguing this. But as it stands... To be honest, I'd also welcome the removal of The Guardian's "Other Lives" section as a QO source. But for 2016, I think I have an argument. And what better way to pay tribute to Delpech's fellow 2016 corpse Harper Lee than to argue this?

So both hosts of Wipeout in the UK are now dead, as is the guy who presented it in the US. Just the Australian representative left now.

Says a lot about the diminishing standards of light entertainment in this country that when Tommy Cooper died it was prime time entertainment for the whole family, yet Daniels just slumps away unfilmed at home.
-
So what you're saying is he never played in the World Cup?
-
Guardian has it already: http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/mar/15/asa-briggs-historian-higher-education-pioneer-dies-age-94 I can't go into reasons because work related, but, well, good riddance. You run a health food store?

Long-time "how the fuck is he still alive" candidate Lord Asa Briggs actually dead now.

Well, it revolved around the fact that police drug busts are never done at 11am in the morning, when the suspect could be out and about, you do a drug raid at 4am when they're going to be asleep and the whole neighbourhood won't see a fucking police van and riot squad pull up. I think the implication is that the raid was done at the behest of another, much bigger, drug lord in the area to take Smiley out of action. And then, of course, he happened to accidentally stab himself. -

If Joanna Harris is tweeting it, you'd have thought that's close to an official announcement. -

Noticing a big increase in tangential Mother Angelica chat on social media recently, possibly a sign that death is very very very close and various religious writers are getting their stories ready? -
Only if they were cremated.

Kate Granger @GrangerKate Mar 11 The scan showed that my cancer is getting worse everywhere & has taken up residence in some new areas near my liver & in my lung Could be a decisive death in the DDP this year if she actually goes.

At this point in 2013, he had around 75 points. Mind you, at this point in 2013, you were, what? 30-40 points behind the leaders? I was absolutely dead in the water this time in 2013, it wasn't until Andrew Millwall and Giulio Andreotti both died on the same day that I thought I could save myself from utter disgrace (May 6), and not until Bruno Metsu carked it (October 14) that I even started to think I had a chance of winning

Also, missed this from a December interview with Howie:

Will be contributing to National Record Day with the release of him reading out a Dylan Thomas poem. Can you guess which one?
