There was a terrible fatal road accident near here on Thursday in Cornwall on A38. Sadly it’s my mates Mum who was the person killed. Just dreadful to wake up to read the heartbreaking news from him this morning.

Meanwhile the UK has just had the coldest Early May bank holiday since they started, temps only got to a max of 13.8c. Last year we were up around 27/28c. More worryingly, is the fact we’re in near drought. It’s barely rained here all winter- in fact it’s rained properly here overnight for the 1st time in about 6 weeks. The last two properly cold Mays with the same drought like conditions were 1995 and 1976. And we know what sort of Summers the UK had those years ( the hottest and longest in recorded history)

Only 1 Ward changes-Peverell goes Labour. Current Labour Lord Mayor is from Stoke Ward hence why white. -

I’ve a sneaky feeling the Green candidate in Drake Ward here in Plymouth (covering the University) whilst not winning will take the 2nd spot and comfortably at that. It’s gone from being a Conservative ward to strongly Labour in the last few years with the Greens doing very very well. Shame the rest of the City is split between the big two now (UKIP vote collapsed last time around and they lost 2 Cllrs with the others defecting to Tory. It needs a shake up tbh -

Voted. The fact that I was only the 9th voter after 90 minutes shows The apathy here. Obviously Postal votes will help but it was a underwhelming choice Tories Labour Lib Dems UKIP Its a strong Labour ward (ex council estate mostly) and the incumbent has been a good Cllr and should get back in no trouble but even I changed my vote from her in protest because of the national mess and the anti Semitic feelings. But at least I voted. -

So it’s local Election Day in England and Northern Ireland. I think it’s going to be the following A- a desperately low turnout B- a shambles for all the major parties Its also the first election as a local government employee in 15 years that I’m not working on it in some form or other. I could have done the count tonight but even I’m sick of it all. It’s just not worth the hassle. -

Warmest Easter on record possible in UK? 25.5c in Hampshire yesterday. Mind you it was Gosport (god awful place).

Whilst introducing a new family into Coronation Street May not be that interesting, the little snippet that Eileen Derbyshire is mentioned is. https://coronationstreetupdates.blogspot.com/2019/04/new-corrie-cast-meet-bailey-family.html?m=1 Sadly it’s clear now that they decided to use Number 3 for this new family clearly shows that I think we’ve seen the end of Emily Bishop- they’ve kept number 3 almost vacant for few years just in case Miss Derbyshire decided to come back. End of an era. -
WTF is happening in London?
philheybrookbay replied to Paul Bearer's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Having been up London yesterday, it was noticeable that I saw a lot more Police visible (both Met and BTP), but that could be down to the FA Cup semi final yesterday and I was passing through Victoria with a lot of Brighton fans after the match. However i I was much more aware that around Holborn/Covent Garden that the locals were much more on the look out for suspect behaviour- even got questioned myself for hanging around a gate line at Holborn tube (my mates Oyster card went Tits hence my hanging around with a briefcase) so perhaps the increased visibility/press is slowing seeping into the Londoners mind. Still a great City to visit IMHO, but like anything you have to be just more aware. -
Agree with that, she had that screen look of total cool to a teenage lad like myself at the time and Rough Guides ignited a love for travel in me which has endured. For that alone she deserves to be remembered fondly and a lot of my school friends have commented on social media that she did much the same to them. I think I’ve read today that she was hung out to dry with her addiction rather than today when rehab is thrown about almost as a badge of honour. Rest peacefully.

http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/police-release-more-information-woman-2582319#ICID=ios_plymouthherald_ios_AppShare_Click_Other Whilst normally not of any comment other than it being a young woman died and wasn’t found for 3 weeks, this was my mates flat between 1992-1994. Had some cracking nights whilst at Uni in there. Just a sad footnote really. -
