    Good List

I agree it's decent, but there are some glaring misses already, like Christopher Hitchens and I think leaving out Megrahi is a mistake...but it's not my list so I can't complain i think they've done a good job overall too!

I still haven't got my invitation yet. Have a look in your junk mail. Your email was in the same batch as mine and I received it. I've re-sent yesterday's email to the same batch so keep your eyes peeled... Okay, i've entered my team, but i still haven't got the full confirmation yet. You might have a bit of a problem. I sent an email confirming I had recieved your entry on 19th December and another confirming your team the next day... (Don't worry, yer in!) Thanks, TMIB. Actually it is my problem after all. That bastard Outlook outgoing emails aren't working I've decided to set up a gmail DDP account and will re-send the emails, which will boounce into the outbox and go NOWHERE! From there, I will cut 'n' paste into gmail emails... set up an msn account, quick, easy and actually works

Just watched it and it was very interesting, but a bit weird how he sees himself as never exisiting...little mention of his brother though, shame...

    Elizabeth Edwards

Not wrong, but illogical since every DDP player with a shout of winning would have had her. The debate would have been whether to make her your joker. But now that's all academic. Had she survived, including her in your team would not have won you the DDP but not including her would have left you needing to make ground on those who did. This is probably the most literal definition of a dead certainty. Good point, I just saw at as easy points to start with, need to work my replacement now...Edrich or Frankin...decisions, decisions... James Moody has inoperable pancreatic cancer and isn't getting chemo for it. He's also be nominated for a Grammy in February, so he should get an obit. Should he lived past December 31st, I'd assume he'd be lock for most people. I am forever in your debt Mr. Guest...unless he doesn't die of course, in which case you'll have to do with my eternal gratitude and disdain. Oh dear. How very strange...well maybe if I say I'm going to put Mick Hucknall in my DDP, it might happen a third time, I live in hope...

    John Edrich

There doesn't seem to be any update on this guy's health since he was first diagnosed...trying to work out if he's worth a DDP pick but it seems as if he could carry on for a while yet, does anyone think he's worthing even keeping on the Deathlist next year?

    Deathrace 2011

Would I be able to enter a team with some different names to my DDP team, or would the 20 names have to be identical? Just because there'll be a few younger names on my DDP, but there's no age advantage in the Deathrace so I'd probably replace them with your Heester or Niemeyer types if that was allowed. EDIT: Ignore me I just re-read number three...tempting to go with a specific Deathrace team just to avoid people nicking my DDP ideas

Cheers for that, what would you think the chances of a UK obituary are for these people? I'd imagine Marcia Strassman and Clive Derby-Lewis would get a mention

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2011

I'm mulling over whether to put Danny Baker in my DDP instead of Debbie Purdy...I think she is more likely to die but I'm worried she doesn't count for being famous for being ill.
  16. Bert Trautmann

    Tariq Aziz

Would this guy count on the DDP? Would he get a mention in the UK press? I'd imagine he'd get a mention, I'm not sure he's eligible...?

    Deathlist 2011

very much like no news:- Former executive at Yukos freed on bail Published: Sunday, November 30, 2008 MOSCOW — An ailing former executive of the dismantled oil company Yukos who was jailed in 2006 was freed Tuesday after posting a $1.8 million bail, his lawyer said. Vasily Aleksanian, currently in a Moscow clinic being treated for AIDS and cancer, faces money laundering and embezzlement charges in a host of criminal cases against Yukos and its jailed founder, Mikhail Khodorkovsky. The trial of Aleksanian, a 36-year-old U.S.-trained lawyer, was suspended in 2008 and he was moved to a clinic in February while lawyers demanded his release on health grounds. He is now partially blind. "The guards around his bed have been dismissed," Drew Holiner, Aleksanian's lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights, said by telephone. "But he is still in serious condition." The Strasbourg-based court last week condemned Aleksanian's detention and ordered him released on humanitarian grounds. Aleksanian and his lawyers will now be able to make sure he is tended to by the best doctors, something they were previously not permitted to do, Holiner said. Aleksanian had been a vice president at Yukos and was a lawyer for Khodorkovsky, who is serving an eight-year sentence in a Siberian prison on fraud and tax evasion charges. Once Russia's largest oil producer, Yukos was broken up and sold off in auctions in what was seen as the Kremlin's punishment for Khodorkovsky's political ambitions. Most of the company's assets were purchased at bargain prices by state-owned corporations. The Moscow City Court set bail for Aleksanian in December, but rights groups condemned the amount as unreasonably high. His lawyers posted pleas and bank account details on Web sites to try to raise the sum. Rights activists were initially doubtful that Aleksanian would be able to raise bail because the legal onslaught against Yukos left it bankrupt. Holiner said he did not know who the private donors were or how many contributed. "That's a private matter," he said. Holiner said he viewed his client's release, despite the huge bail, as Russian compliance, which "has to be welcomed." The treatment of another Yukos lawyer, Svetlana Bakhmina, also has attracted wide attention. Bakhmina became pregnant while in custody and her supporters had called on President Dmitri Medvedev of Russia to grant her amnesty. She was recently transferred to a clinic near Moscow and gave birth to a girl last month. Then there was this on the 7th Dec last year on the BBC Russian web site - via a babel fish translation: The process on business Of [aleksanyana] is newly postponed " Matter Of [aleksanyana]" the almost four years are pulled The [simonovskiy] law court of Moscow on Monday transferred the hearings of on business former jurist of YUKOS Vasiliy [Aleksanyan] on January 25. By this time must be preparedly new medical conclusion about the state of its health and, correspondingly, the ability to participate in the judicial sessions. Law court turned himself into the federal scientific-methodological center on the preventive maintenance and the fight with AIDS with the request to conduct the additional inspection of defendant. [Aleksanyan], which suffers AIDS and cancer of lymphatic gland, and its defenders say that further delays are fraught for the patient with fatal risk and request to let go him for the treatment into Western Europe. In the opinion attorney [Aleksanyan] Georgiy [Dangyanova], to put aside the solution of " not it is rational neither with the medical nor from the legal point of [zreniya]". " The results of last inspection showed that the immunodeficiency remains; therefore participation in the judicial measures to it is contraindicated, since it presents the threat of [zhizni]" , he stated on Monday in The [simonovskiy] law court. In the telephone interview of " [interfaksu]" [Aleksanyan] said that " continues sufficiently agonizing [terapiyu]" and " it exhausted Russian of [resursy]" for the treatment. " I should show to western specialist, the corresponding papers were represented into the law court. I do not know, as this to make, if they hold me on the short guide. Mockeries continue further, now we will thus pull rubber. I will be officially turned to the law court with the requirement so that me they would permit continue the treatment, where still they can [pomoch]" , he said. However, law court listened to the position of charge, which declares, that [Aleksanyan] at present is found on the dispensary treatment, does not pass intensive care, and there are no data about the need for its hospitalization. The specialists of the hematologic center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, where is treated [Aleksanyan], previously concluded that he has " is observed deep immunodeficiency with the negative of [dinamikoy]" , and any infection can kill it, in consequence of which to it extremely undesirably appear in the public places, including in the law court. Furthermore, protection previously presented into The [simonovskiy] law court letter from a certain European specialist, for the treatment to whom for Great Britain plans to leave [Aleksanyan]. Matter about the taxes The Russian Attorney General's Office charges the former chief for the legal administration of YUKOS with the embezzlement of the actions of the company of " [Tomskneft]" , money laundering and to the nonpayment of taxes from personal income. In the opinion human rights activists, main " [vina]" [Aleksanyana] consists in the failure to give accusatory indications against Mikhail Khodorkovsky. On April 6, 2006 The [simonovskiy] law court consented to its attraction to the criminal responsibility and content under the guards. Legal procedure was on business stopped in February 2008 in connection with the status of the health of defendant, which was being located in the hospital under the protection. On December 8, 2008 [Mosgorsud] changed [Aleksanyanu] the measure for suppression to the guarantee in the size of 50 million rubles. Since January 2009, The [simonovskiy] law court regularly conducts sessions regarding the possibility of the renewals of process, on which [Aleksanyana] present the attorneys. Make of that what you can! Then there was this on the 25th June 2010... The [simonovskiy] law court of Moscow ended criminal case in the attitude of the former Vice President of YUKOS Vasiliy [Aleksanyan]. [Aleksanyan], which suffers a number of chronic diseases, confirmed that it does not object to the curtailment of the matter without the right of rotation after the rehabilitation. Attorney [Aleksanyana] [Gevorg] Of [dangyan] in the interview BBC said that this solution makes possible for his client to study his treatment; however, agreement with the curtailment of the matter does not indicate agreement with the charge. Thanks a lot for that, appreciated Give his age and his cancer and his AIDS, he would seem a no-brainer for the list...but then the lack of coverage for him suggests he may not get a UK obituary...

    Deathlist 2011

Any update on Vasily Aleksanyan? Does anyone think he'll actually get a mention/obit in the UK? Mulling over whether to put him in my list for next year, it's him, Penny Marshall (who I'm not even sure is ill) or Muhammad Ali (still making the odd public appearance). I was thinking about Sara Payne as well but she looks to have recovered now.

    Deathlist 2011

I think considering his successful 80s pop career, and his recent plastic surgery disasters, he's assured of one. LB - thats Pete Burns. Pat Burns is something Canadian. I think he he has something to do with ice hockey. That's right - http://www.torontosun.com/sports/hockey/20...6/15377291.html If he makes it to 2011 he'd be almost certain to die then, but I seriously doubt he'll get a mention in the UK press...

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2011

Spot on Bert. This is the thread. Now ask yourself very carefully, debating all the pros and cons, does Ms Marshall really deserve a thread of her own or could such a thread be yet another tumbleweed alley on a forum with a few too many already? I wouldn't presume to know the answer. Sorry, only realised after I posted the thread...I am new, a bit of slack? Is there anyway to get rid of the thread?
