As a Canadian, I will never experience living in such a society, as North America was intact after the war, but I can only imagine the fustrations of having to build over again, akin to say Japan, or Germany or France. I think well that's the intent anyways.. In Japanese cultures 42 (Die (shi), ni (grammarical mechanic denoting time-place (space time), or direction (to go, to move, towards ect), so as with the number 13, 42 is very bad form and bad luck, As if you're saying going to die. 42 in Chinese, is more like a curse (shi (die), ni (you), The grammarical correct way to say is ney hui Shi (You go and die!), but in this context it can be used as a curse (die.... blank ..... die), or a fact of life (you die). 42 when using the atm machine or phone (those what has alphas associated with the numbers) spells out HA ( as in a laugh), death always always gets the last laugh, or we death watchers always gets the last laugh, when a old fruit refuses to accept it's fate and dry up to be dispursed by the wind back to the ground soil. (like Donvan from Indiana Jones 3, when he foolishly pridefully drank from the false holy grail, and disolved into dust).

You're right you're right. This is quite entertaining. But it's just so painful... I felt the same way during Suharto. Especially when I made a bet to see if my car would outlast dictators, and it was slowly dying. In Suharto's defense however, he technically did outlast the Hyundai. :_( because it was non functioning, I just cheated and didn't drive during those crutial days.

Queen outlasted my car! I had a bet to with a friend, whom even she out lasted. Which would die first, my 1992 Hyundai Sonata which was on it's last wheels, or her. I then did this for other tyrants and dictators. Some of which I read about here. With Suharto being the last during those months he clinged to life support. Babs the Impossible by Sarah Grand. While it lacks a mature vernacular for effective expression of abstract ideas. The writer tries hard, and it's evident in a very whimsical tale about a small English Hamlet that has optioned not to add a rail road through it's lands, and consequently missed the industrialization and has fallen by the wayside. A Feminist, Grand writes and describes 5 different country noble women, who cope with boredom in very different ways, economic stagnation and perhaps genetic stagnation, as all able men have the ability to escape the depressing but beautiful village. The story is told through the eyes, of Babs (Lorrane) Kingconstance, a tempermental child who hasn't coped with personal stagnation and stunted intellectal growth. She however applies herself to be a hellion girl and indicates a very strong intelligence, as she devises ways to make life hell for everyone to relieve her boredom... including her glutton dimwitted mother heiress of the Kingconstance fortune, her suicidal aunt who is also called , a loony bachelorette Miss Spice, who entertains herself with unhealthy delusions of fancy in everyday things and exists in a wonderful but unrealistic fantasy world, etc etc etc. The book was charming in a quaint way. It could be a parody of Victorian-Edwardian era romance novels, by describing in limited vocabulary, but very descrptive minute ways what goes through the minds of women who are bored housewives suck in the boonies, before the age of mass media, television, internet, Sex toys, and recreational drugs, or Tai-bo palates.

Sir Run Run Shaw. He's in excellent shape, and has outlasted his 4 OLDER brothers he's 103 years old. He's physique doesn't show signs of tiring or decriptute, He looks like he's in his late 60s actully. VS other elderly Chinese, who have say cancerous moles on noses ears.... His interesting life was a really good Run.
