It's been at least a week since I found an ill national leader. Than Shwe, the despotic ruler of Burma is reported to have a few health issues. "...Last year the then-75-year-old SPDC senior leader, who is known to suffer from hypertension and is a diabetic, had a mild stroke but quickly recovered. In the past few months there have been new reports that his health is deteriorating again, according to a Myanmar army doctor who spoke with Asia Times Online. According to one foreign visitor who recently met with Than Shwe, the senior general is often short of breath. In a video of his daughter's recent wedding viewed by Asia Times Online, he clearly had trouble walking." Because of the state sponsored murder, torture, rape, detention without trial, massive forced relocations, and forced labor that Burma has inflicted on it's people, I hope Than Shwe dies a slow and painful death

Yes. Not nearly as fatal as pancreatic cancer, but similar in the sense that it can fester for quite a while before a positive diagnosis, by which time the tumor might have spread to the bowel, the large intestine or the anus.

The very silly death metal singer, Glen Benton, the leader of Deicide always said he would kill himself when he was aged 33. I believe that deadline has passed, but he has still not expired.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2006
DevonDeathTrip replied to honez's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I find Katie Melua quite attractive. However her dress sense is rather poor. -
Looks like you have to wait about a month, CP Looks like he's still on the chopping block though, which means eventually I should get my points. The air of uncertainty is no different from that of a terminal cancer patient really. All 32 M names have joined the Hall of Candidates, which means I'm almost at 200 names up there. I'm rather hoping that the laughing bomber, Amrozi bin Nurhasyim, might br the first CPDP candidate to be executed. There is a final appeal to be heard very shortly and assuming that doesn't work (he has admitted to been involved in the deaths of over 200 people) a mutually convenient execution date should be arranged. The Indonesian authorities have refused my pick's request to be beheaded, so he will face the firing squad.

Cahal Daly, Emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop Of Armagh and former Primate Of All Ireland is 89 years old today. His Wiki entry mentions that he has suffered from "considerable health problems" and was unable to attend the funeral of The Pope last year for medical reasons.

I added both of them following this post, TF. I had noticed von Bulow before, but it's a difficult one to call. Is she any more likely to die in 2007, then in the last 25 plus years? Felt it was worthy of adding on to the revised "More likely to die (and get UK obit) list" Likewise Blackham, I'm sure somebody mentioned him somewhere, but he's a good candidate, for DL perhaps as well. The only problem with Hadlee is an obit, but I think the BBC might do. But I don't think he'll make 2007 - I'll keep my (eagle) eye on that - if he's still ill, I'll pop him on the list soon. I reckon Hadlee would definately get a UK obit OoO. The Times always wax lyrical about old cricketers who leave the crease. We'll soon find out anyway. Times Obit !

Happy Birthday Bruno, have a good one. -
I'm not a car lover. I suppose one of the reasons for that is that I can't afford cars that are large enough to make love in comfortably. regards, Hein I'd recommend a Skoda Fellatio Estate.

Here's the link. It's benign and he'll be fine.

I reckon Hadlee would definately get a UK obit OoO. The Times always wax lyrical about old cricketers who leave the crease. We'll soon find out anyway. Got 'im!!!! Walter Hadlee went this morning in his nervous nineties. Sadness and Sympathies to the family... I'm going to email The Times obits editor about this

This article gives quite some further information about his present health. "....According to municipal regulations [in Budapest], streets can only be named after a person at least 25 years after their death. But it seems the wheels are in motion to make this case an exception...."

The baritone singer Thomas Stewart has died "... Mr. Stewart was a commanding singer, muscular and with a moustache and beard that seemed suited to the often imperious roles he sang..."

Skinner could be a good one for next year. He's never looked too clever, mind. Cyril Smith can't be far off either. Denis Skinner has his own thread, which has slipped in to obscurity, it last saw action on December 1st 2003. [Posts moved -- MH]

That is sad news for Mickey, but given that his son had been ill for a long time it's not going to come as a shock to him. "...Rooney died Saturday..." Not a shock. But not much of a birthday present for Mickey.

DDT if you and I both voted for Barbera then why has he only got one vote? Are you sure you didn't accidentally vote for Ladybird Johnson? Ah! I posted but forgot to actually...vote. I will amend the situation forthwith.

Joseph Barbera. I always choose he him and one day he will oblige.

This is an interesting thread full of supposed Dicky O sightings. It's probably been posted before anyway but, meh http://www.boredatuni.com/wht_found.php?whtId=83 I quite like this post: "What was mentioned to me that R O'S is now a chronic alcoholic and was seen begging for money the concourse of Richmond (Surrey) rail station. "

Ah! Back Sheets Of Rain, possibly one of the most miserable albums ever made. Who would have thought that Bob Mould would end up doing gay disco?
-
I think this thread is deserving of attention from the national media. Admin should prepare a press release. Who would have thought that Dicky O would inspire so many posts? Just to put it in perspective, this is bigger than all of the pinned ideas and near misses threads. It is twice the size of the Pete Doherty thread and three times bigger than the George Best 's. It has received thirty thousand more hits that The Pope's thread and fifty thousand more than Fidel Castro's. This is all for a man who isn't that ill anyway. Well done to everybody involved.

The new Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe is reported in this article to have a a chronic intestinal or kidney disorder. I wouldn't imagine that the stress of running the country will do his condition much good.
