Me and the wife just finished watching the black phone . Love movies especially horror set in the 70s/80s. Brilliant movie you're really rooting for the main character by the end and Ethan hawke's character really is easy to hate, definitely gets you invested. We were actually saying that it reminds us of a few Stephen king movies we've seen. Come to find out it's based on a short story by Stephen king's son Joe hill.

Thanks for your post. You're now the third unconnected person that's recommended this film, which means it's passed my arbitrary scoring system. (Once is a fluke, twice a coincidence, thrice is a pattern.)

I now have to figure out how to access it because the same arbitrary system forbids me to watch anything else until this one is checked off the list. Providing it passes the next test. The 10 minute rule.

    Warmest Regards! :D

The public will always need some kind of leader whether it is a posh Etontonian or some activist from Soho who is vegetarian and believes he/she/they/it is a Jedi. There will be riots, people going "ok now what" and then people going "so uh I have an idea on how to move forward", then people following that person and next thing you know they will be going all political in whatever is left of parliament.

I can't argue with that. I'm just wondering at what point we favoured rulers instead of leaders.

The last half of a decade has shown us that these rulers don't really have much of a clue and are making it up as they go along. Their ideas on moving forward seem to be more for the sake of it than any actual progress. Trust in government is at an all time low yet it's size and scope is at an all time high. I don't believe it can be fixed by simply voting in our preferred candidate/party any more.

Jim Morrison joined the 27 Club on this day 51 years ago.

Same day, two years earlier, Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones also joined 27 Club.

Morrison published the poem 'Ode to L.A. While Thinking of Brian Jones, Deceased' in remembrance, shortly afterwards. Both died in similar circumstances although Jones' liver and bath tub were much larger than Morrison's.

Now I know the bulk of folks here are not in America, and it's $$ to travel here (that is if you can get past the first question: why would you? lol).  But that said, New Orleans has to be in the top 10 destinations, so if ever any of you DO happen this way, by all means mention it and maybe Sir Creep will buy you some jambalaya and gumbo in the Big Easy.  It would be cool just to meet one of you.  The odds of me heading to the U.K. in the next few years is remote, but would definitely like to visit again (it's been 17 years), so we shall see.

Likewise if you're in the vicinity of Las Vegas!

  5. That budget plan should finally reveal that emperor isn't wearing any clothes. Luckily for America it won't make it through congress. Only because they won't have anything to write on other than napkins.

Sorry Old Lady. That would be my fault. I updated the word filter to substitute the word Halibut to halibut when one of our members (can't believe I've forgotten his name) was going on a tirade of abuse towards one of our other members. I'll try to switch it off again. B)

I think you should leave it. Makes a refreshing change and if your argument is solid it doesn't matter anyway. :D

  7. My favourite moon landing theory is that man did land on the moon, but that video cameras don't work up there so they had to film the Aldrin/Armstrong shots in a studio. It's just hilarious because it's a conspiracy that can leave everyone feeling deeply unsatisfied.
