    Frank Bough

He's 77, eight years into his second liver (losing the first one to cancer), and known as a unlikely coke-head in the past. I mean, there are few certainties and Bough has led a way healthier life than the likes of David Crosby, but there's mileage on that body now. Don't know about the coke, but having a new liver is not that much of an indication for an imminent death: I'm not complaining about picking Frank Bough, though, bro. We need a couple of surprises on the list. I was just hoping we'd had Gary Coleman or the Britanny Murphy fellow...

    London 2012 Olympics

I just knew it would appeal to some-one! There's a fetish for anything, even for blue one-eyed alienlike puppets without knees, shins, shoes, fingers and bodyholes.

Still no obit for Paul Cardinal Mayer! This is not looking good... Why would any news agency in its right mind mention the passing of some ancient catholic dude three weeks ago? Especially when you need your webspace to inform people of the 'soccerettes'. Hmm, no obit yet. His funeral was yesterday, the pope himself attended the service, so I'm sure that at least one serious British news agency should have noticed... I found obits in American, French, Italian, Dutch, German, Australian and Arab Emirates (?!) media, where is the British one? Surely they could spare a line or two in that massive load of bullsh*t they publish day after day?

    ???

Katharine Hepburn, I like a woman with spirit. Being stuck in an elevator with Gilbert Gottfreid or being stuck in an elevator with Fran Drescher? If I'm allowed to switch off my hearing aid: Fran Drescher. I consider Gilbert G. by a long distance the most annoying, talentless, ugly comedian, so that's not too difficult. Eggheads (WITHOUT CJ) or the Weakest link (WITH Anne Robinson)?

    The Hoff Is Off

Mrs. Hoff likes her sherry too, and has obviously bribed the judge or something... It also helped that she's not black, poor, illiterate and ugly, don't you think?

By the way, who is Joy? May well be the same person to whom Beethoven wrote an ode, considering Heesters' age. regards, Hein Wasn't she Hitler's wife? Joy Braun?

    1987 - "Any one beatle" ?

Well, it turns out that at least one more Beatle is finally dead. Somewhat.

    UK General Election 2010

Not sure whether it's been posted before, but from a DL-point of view, it's a shame CURE didn't manage to win a seat. The Citizens for Undead Rights and Equality, who were standing in Brighton Pavilion, Doncaster Central, Hitchin & Harpenden and Twickenham, aim to stand up for zombie rights. Their website reads: "We’ve set out our manifesto. We’ve written stupid posts on the Internet. We’ve taken our zombie friends out onto the streets of London. Now it’s over to you. Sure, we’ve not put in 36 hours or whatever Dave Cameron has been doing, but he’s a desperate idiot – and, ironically, after his hard day of campaigning, he looks like a zombie, albeit one Photoshopped bright orange. So get out there, use your vote, and we’d be humbled if you’d vote for CURE. Remember it’s not just the living who need fighting for; it’s the dead rising, too." Their main target seemed to be the Greens - probably because the oddly named Soraya Kara was running in Brighton Pavilion against Caroline Lucas. Her 61 votes were not enough to influence the Green's impressive victory there, but as Lucas is very unlikely to be around for ever and a zombie allegedly is, Soraya might give it another shot in the future.

    Derby Dead Pool 2010

The dead Nigerian chap was a pick for the DDP's current no. 7, the 9 points mean we have a new runner up, me thinks! Can't wait for TMIB coming home to confirm. Now I think of it: he has been to Canada, and the Montreal Gazette published an obit on Cardinal Mayer. Would that count for the DDP? Let's face it: TMIB makes the rules, and Canada is almost British, isn't it?

African Leaders - Despots and Democratic

Umaru Yar'Adua's successor is vice-president Goodluck Jonathan. He has not only a quite remarkable name, his clothing style could not be less presidential. He looks as something between a rapper and a blues star.

    Derby Dead Pool 2010

As mentioned in the cardinals-thread, Paul Cardinal Mayer (98) has passed away! A unique pick for me at the DDP - provided that he will get a UK-obit... Haven't found one thus far... Edit: the 8 points would make me shared no. 14 in the DDP! I'm so excited!

The Cardinals Of The Roman Catholic Church

Hip hip hurray!! It was about time, I had a good start with Miep Gies and Zelda Rubinstein, but things had gone a little bit too quiet lately. (Hmm, no obit yet... I have no worries, though, as child molesters clericals have been hotly debated lately. Surely the fact that the most ancient of them has finally been called to the great kindergarten in the sky will generate some press coverage?)

    Alex Higgins (And Snooker)

I'm a huge snooker fan, and Higgins was certainly one of the great characters in the game, but there's no f**king way I'd donate anything over a nickel to this arrogant, self-destructive, brainless excuse for a human being. [sits down and hopefully awaits the upcoming ranters...]

    The Dead Of 2010

Couldn't find a specific soap-thread, but Helen Wagner, As the world turns-star for fifty years, has died. She was unknown by anyone who has a proper job and is under-80, but a (unique) DDP-hit nonetheless.
  17. Not only is he not dead, he's still making those lunatic's videos to threaten the imperialist american pigs with death and destruction. This will prove to be a DDP/CPDP-tease for a little longer, I'm afraid...

    The Hoff Is Off

The Hoff is participating in the Gumball 3000, which arrived in Amsterdam today. I'd say it's not fair, he has a car with Turbo Boost and all sorts of artificial intelligence stuff... (Let's hope it has an alcohol lock too.)

Can Som1 Pretty Ploice Do Me Favure Make My Day

I read the topic starter's post over and over again, expecting some subliminal message hidden behind the inane drivel about little pills enhancing your bedroom skills or some obscure Nigerian begging for money which would enable him to unlock an immense fortune in a bank in Ouagadou. It turned out that the fellow was actually trying to ask a serious question, however. Deadsox: how on earth did you find out?

    Barack Obama

Well, I'm sure Obama will make many more mistakes - he's not the messiah! (He's a very naughty boy!) I agree: pleasing the oil industry is about the same as selling your soul to satan, but the political reality might make it necessary. If Obama is not to make his health care reform a Pyrrhic victory, he'll have to give in to the republicans every now and then. There's many Americans like the racist highschool beau earlier on in this thread, who'd love to see Obama fail just because they don't want a charismatic young black politician to be right. Let's hope the reforms will turn out fruitful before his first term ends. I won't vote in the poll because not for a moment do I believe that illiterate rightwing hatemongers will succeed in beating the optimism and compassion that Obama represents.

    Academy Award Winners

You could do that yourself, DJL... You might have to register, I'm not sure about that, which would add to your respectability anyway. You're a pretty heavy poster right now - which is fine with me, of course - but I'm sure the regulars like to know who they're dealing with.

    Dennis Hopper

Too true Vaagy! Only 2 long shot guesses still in-play on the sweepstake - your's of March the 9th and DDT's of April the 16th. So half way between those two dates is Noon (local time in place of death) on the 28th March. That's looking good for DDT... I checked on this to see which date I predicted, only to find out that I never took a shot! (Not sure what that smiley's indicating, but what the heck...) Waiting for the caption 'Dennis hopping off', which is almost as predictable as the Michael Foot 'deadline'.

    UK General Election 2010

Ah, a cry for law and order, combined with completely unfounded xenophobia, focussing on the dark fears of the common people, deep mistrust of anything elitist and heartfelt contempt for high culture... if you'd wear clogs, you could vote for this guy. Actually: you can have him. For free.
