    20/20 +3

Ready to do battle and steal those picks from your fellow players Its fast and fun but you need to be on the ball but if you miss a round or two you can join in at any time Basically the aim of the game is to pick 20 candidates from the years 1923-1932.You need 2 from each year and you must have one male and one female from each year. Candidates only qualify if they have a national news article about their death in English and or an obituary. The game does not start until 1 January 2023 (UK Time Zone) and no teams can be posted before this time and will continue until the end of the year. As soon as one candidate from anyone`s list dies the pool will be immediately restarted and it is first come first serve. You can even be a bitch and steal someone`s entire list if you wish. It is a competitive game. The overall winner will be the person with most hits in the year. The pool restarts as soon as a link from the the qualifying Obituary is posted verifying age of the deceased (by their own standard). No two players can have duplicate picks and the age given in the article will be accepted as soon as the article is published and pasted to this site. It has to be decisive at the time the news breaks. If the age they give is different to the year of birth you don`t get a hit unless it is amended before another death that meets the criteria of a hit. There is no limit to the number of players and you can enter the round at any point. You may even miss some rounds if they are quick. You do not need an admin to confirm your pick if you have a QO to post your next round team but you may be challenged if it in any way suspect.

The current Conservative Party is a uneasy coalition of One Nation Tories and Brexit/Culture War nutters. They only stay together because neither one wants to give up the activist base (which is needed come election time). In a recent council by-election in my constituency the Conservatives won (albeit on a very low turnout)

Michael Portillo was meant to be the shining knight for the Tory Party who was going to shake them up and make them a credible opposition to New Labour but he lost his seat on that night in 1997. Most people outside the Tory party thought that Ken Clarke was the sensible choice for leader (especially after Michael Heseltine's Heart Attack) but for the party he was too pro-European so they went with the untested William Hague (who might have made a good successor to one of the names above but he was plunged in too quickly) for these decisions they spent 13 years in opposition. However we don't know whether Clarke would have been able to put up a credible fight at the 2001 election which hardly saw any seats change hands from Labour to Conservative. As to members of the cabinet who elicit respect. The discussion around who will lead the party after the election does not throw up names that inspire confidence. A lot will depend on the size and make-up of the rump of Conservative MPs left and who would want the job. By saying Penny Mordaunt sounds like the best of a bad bunch is really just demonstrating how bad things are

I think he was astonished (and possibly a bit disappointed) to win in 1992. As the Parliament progressed divisions over Europe and a few scandals meant things looked dire by 1997 the writing was on the wall especially after John Smith was replaced by Tony Blair

    Eva Marie Saint

She was in North by Northwest which is generally considered to be Hitchcock's masterpiece and she won an academy award for On The Waterfront. She is in the top tier of Hollywood nonagenarians

The big difference between Sunak and Corbyn is that whilst a lot of people really disliked Jeremy Corbyn there was a hardcore of people who really liked him and flocked to see him speak. Whereas those people who do not dislike Sunak aren't singing his praises from the highest hills. It is greeted with a shrug and a better than Truss/Johnson/Starmer* *delete as appropriate

There have been a number of cases where two or more deaths break at about the same time. If a later breaking death occurs but it actually happened before the start of the new round you will be awarded the point if you had the earlier death in your team at the point that they died. I will do my best to be fair and even handed. There is no limit to the number of players and you can enter the round at any point. You may even miss some rounds if they are quick. Theatre

In the character actors thread I have posted lists of London Evening Standard Theatre award winners but I was trying to find a place for the other theatre creatives (writers and directors). I did think there was a Luvvie thread but apparently not so here we are with a list of the ten longest surviving Playwrights. With a very interesting name to start us off. BEST PLAY (Writer) 1957 Roy Lawler (b. 1921) 1967 Peter Nichols (b.1927) 1972 Tom Stoppard (b.1937) 1974 Alan Ayckborn (b.1939) 1976 Howard Brenton (b.1942) 1980 Ronald Harwood (b.1934) 1983 Athol Fugard (b.1932) 1985 David Hare (b.1947)* 1986 Christopher Hampton (b.1946) * Co-author with Howard Brenton.

    Football Manager Sacking Bingo 3

Rotherham part company with their manager two weeks after relegation to League one was confirmed He was only appointed a few weeks ago clearly with his mission to be to keep Rotherham in the Championship and failed but I think no-one should have been surprised at the outcome. In an extremely competitive league Rotherham have looked like an outlier for the entire season. Though as it stands it is looking like the bottom three are all Yorkshire clubs. Well hopefully Leeds will keep the Championship flag flying for Yorkshire next season (when they will be joined by Sheffield United)

  17. Chart music is a market place and there is always a need for fresh faced bubblegum pop peddlars. However with A Piece of Me is see Britney trying to move beyond that. I think it deliberately strikes a discordant note. With regard to Morrissey fortunately his songs rarely troubled the upper reaches of the charts

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis

Went to the RSC last night to see the opening night of Love's Labour's Lost. Fantastic production which milks the comic potential. Luke Thompson (Bridgeton) was a confident and expressive Berowne and Nathan Foad (OFMD) made the most of Costard. Only criticism was that the Princess's voice didn't really carry but she made up for it by being stunningly beautiful. Only on for five weeks. Worth catching if you are around Stratford
