Conflicting information in this BBC report Also another of those 'long term friend' references

Hell, cluelessness has never stopped the rest of us entering dead pools, indeed the random dart in the paper method has - according to some winners - been their chosen means of compiling a list of choices from a list of candidates. Heh, considering the randomness of the currently leading theme teams, you're probably right. Though simply choosing random names of a list and then winning would be like winning the lottery, while I'd want to win with something approaching skill. I briefly (for 15 minutes) thought about enetering a team on the last day, but then realised that googling all the MPs for info would take several hours at least. That's why I gave people almost two months to enter. The other option was just writing down the names of all the MPs you can think of and see if you can get to 30. Damn, you guessed my secret. I'm sitting in Louisiana and don't know shit all. I chose MPs that were MPs, lost their seat, and were once again elected. Sadly my source ran out at the letter F or so surnames. After that I simply chose those with the slimmest margin of victory, aside from 3-4 obvious tankers. I had a list of the oldest MPs but what's the fun in that? Slim victories means the slightest fuck up and the recall petition will be flying. SC This is where you might come unstuck. We do not have the provision for recall petitions. Sometimes if an MP cocks up big time they will resign but normally they will sit tight and stand down at the next election (or hope everyone forgets and stand at the next election).

Read Any Good Books Lately?

I have just finished The City of Death which (for those of you who don't know) is James Goss' adaptation of Douglas Adams' Doctor Who seriel from 1979. It is one of only four seriels from the original run that had not been adapted as books. James Goss is working on the other Douglas Adams script The Pirate Planet which leaves Eric Saward's two Dalek stories (Resurrection & Revelation). The book is an absolute joy and Goss manages to capture a better essence of Adams (helped by the very witty original script) then Eoin Coifer managed in ...And Another Thing -
Jim Naughtie is to leave the Today programme but not for health reasons. I hope this doesn't mean more of Justin Webb because I don't think he cuts it.

Lol yes I saw that after I posted. Whatever my twisted algorithm was for inclusion, sadly no David Davies met the mark. As it was I couldn't find any information on MPs after the letter H or so on the qualities I was looking for, thus I'm heavily weighted the first few letters of the alphabet. SC It's a peculiarity of the British Electoral system. Each party is forced to select candidates with deficient surnames in each electoral cycle to even out alphabetic spread. Otherwise the register of members interests becomes imbalanced and falls over. There will a particular emphasis on T to Z for the next election. Actually my MP (didn't vote for him) actually raised this issue in the commons the other day. Because the MPs are divided into two lines for the division this being done alphabetically those in the A-M line have to wait longer than the L-Z line because more MPs have surnames in the first half of the alphabet. His proposed solution was to move all MPs with surnames beginning Mc to the second half. Is this an artifact of our electoral system because Ballot papers are also listed alphabetically?

dead Prince Philip Duke Of Edinburgh

Managed to stay on his feet for at least a minute in Glasgow today. I think we are stuck with Phil to the end but I think he should start dropping down the table 20-25 I think would be about right. He has a long way to go to catch up Clive Dunn or even Kirk Douglas. -
Michael Parkinson given the all clear from prostrate cancer. Doesn't mean he will avoid our attention completely but probably won't make the list in 2016.

Now that brings back some childhood memories. His name often appeared on TV credits and my mum and I never tired of saying it out loud when it did. I had no idea how to pronounce it, and I don't think my mum was sure either, but it was a fun name to say. And he's still alive! Go Harry! He arranged the theme to Reilly: Ace of Spies

Both of them.

What Do You Think Of The 2015 Death List?
Bibliogryphon replied to Davey Jones' Locker's topic in DeathList Forum
I have looked at the remaining people on the list and there are none who I would put money on still being alive at the end of the year. I am still not happy about Jake Roberts but that is because I know nothing about him and have little interest in him. I think we should get 14, we may even break the record but I think it would be rash to try and pick those out. At the beginning of the year I thought Leslie Phillips was a shoe in but as each day passes this seems less likely. I look forward to being surprised. Though I would like it to be some less iconic figures and more dictators or murderers. -
Today the castaway on Desert Island Discs was Harry Rabinowitz the conductor who is 99. He sounded very sprightly and Kirsty Young mentioned that he looked 20 years younger but I think he should at least be on the radar and now he has been on DID the BBC are bound to mention it when he dies so they can link it to the i-player.

Peter Tobin had been taken to hospital after being slashed across the face

Just seen that on twitter but you have beat me to it. He was the second oldest actor living who had appeared in Doctor Who.

I should have picked up on the Peter Robinson issue and have allowed Maryport the sneaky change to Michael Green. That just means there is one less potential target. Any interest in Robinson will have to transfer to the DDP. Alistair Carmichael is to attend sessions to have the complaints about his heard so will we get our first BE quickly and will he be allowed to stand?

Do you think it will now start rocking on its own to the lilting distant sound of an acoustic guitar and Irish harmonies?

Ex-Pope Benedict Versus Prince Philip

I went for Phil to perform a quick Grexit. I think the Pope retiring has bought him a few years. -
That Old Rocking Chair has got him in its grip. No longer Walking Tall
