There's about 45 entries in my short-list at the moment. I need to go through them all at some point to make sure that they're still alive, and that the reason I've picked them is still relevant. I've a suspicion one of my picks died back in 2020, but haven't found any confirmation. Another pick is a major name - I found some footage from earlier this year of them looking very ill, but they seem to have improved somewhat since. I had a theme team lined up too - unfortunately there's fewer than 20 who qualify for the list now, and it's unlikely that anyone else will make the list before next year.

Mark Lewisohn reports the death of Lizzie Bravo, one of the two 'Apple Scruffs' who sang backing vocals on the World Wildlife Fund version of "Across The Universe". Mark Lewisohn on Twitter: "When I was 9 I wanted to be Lizzie Bravo, invited into Abbey Road to sing on Across The Universe. Instead, later in life, we became friends. Her Beatles love never diminished, and she was a devoted daughter, mother and grandmother – a funny, artistic, generous human. RIP, Lizzie. https://t.co/4ru6Synfuo" / Twitter

I'd heard rumours that he was seriously ill - hence I had him in my shortlist for next year's DDP.

Perhaps there's a reason why they've been leaked at this time.

No - Yellow Submarine featured backing vocals from Pattie Boyd and Marianne Faithful. She may have been the first to play an instrument on one, though.

Hmm, he was touring the UK for two of the weeks of the period over which the abuse was supposed to have happened.

Or it's a notable aircraft. The historic aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm operate from Yeovilton which is not too far from the crash site, and there's also the charity Navy Wings at Ilchcester who also have some historic aircraft. If one of those went down it would probably be described as 'light' in the media.

It appears to be a Nanchang CJ-6 - the basic trainer of the Chinese Air Force. They're relatively inexpensive to pick up used.

He was indeed a pilot from 617 Squadron, but only began to fly missions with them over a year after the Dambusters raid.

Huey Long of The Ink Spots lived to 105. However it seems he was only in the group for a few months in 1945, and left the group when founding member Charlie Fuqua returned from a stint in the US Army.

Italian composer Ceclia Seghezzi lived to 111. She seems to be somewhat obscure, though, as I've not manged to find recordings of any of her works.

I did have him on my shortlist, but took him off in favour of someone else who is clearly still alive.

Linda and Anne Nolan were both interviewed on Channel 4's "Steph's Packed Lunch" today - they both appeared to look fine.

Right at the beginning of the year I noticed that there were precisely 20 people that matched a certain criteria, and they would make an excellent theme team, as all are certainly able to produce a QO, and they're all getting on in years. Plus there's a few members who are likely to be unique picks should I chose them. If only I'd though of them a day or two before! Anyway one member of that group passed on recently, so I'm ruing that chance even more now. I'm not saying what the criteria is, as I hope to submit the list next time, assuming that more people make the list before the end of the year.

It could just be for a feature of one of the TV shows he works for - he's done health related things when appearing on Channel 4's "Steph's Packed Lunch".

Having since seen the broadcast, it looked like footage from an editing session had somehow been switched onto the live feed.
