Walter Bernstein was nominated for Best Original Screenplay in 1977. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/49th_Academy_Awards

Carked Douglas. This feels so strange. Kirk was like the old piece of furniture that stayed in the room year after year, while most of the others were broken and replaced. And now it's gone too....

Perv Musharraf.

I'm willing to take that risk.
-
Etushi suggested that we take the Olivia sweepstake here instead. I'll go with 21 September 2021.

Nice libel suit bait re Kirk Douglas description in the Drop 40 page... Loongkoonan, the aboriginial artist who will be 110 this year, has a first name. It's Daisy. A voice actor theme team has Ann Gillis in it. She died 2 years ago.

Thanks for notifying me, Willz. Ah, so I lucked out then. May he rest in peace.

In a way, my prediction already came true (the 'reach' part of it, at least) in July 2019, because Barbara Kent lived to be 103. But if we want to be really pedantic, then Olivia will match her age towards the end of April. How about a sweepstake for how long into the 2020s she will live (year + month maybe)? I'll go with September 2021, because going any further than that would be pushing my already incredible luck. If I'm being completely honest with you, I never really (as in, wouldn't bet my life on it) thought she would live to see the 2020s. She could have keeled over two days after my post and it would've been at the VERY advanced age of 96. But nope, she's determined to make my bold assertion come true. And for that, I thank thee, Dame Olivia.

Probably the most uncreative team name in the history of the game. Had a different name in my first DDP season (Friday the 2013th) that only worked in that particular year.

Tired of all the Disney remakes and reboots of the past couple of years? Well, here is a nice nostalgia trip to the classic era when Walt himself oversaw the studio's production with an ironfist. Theme team: This Knee Ain't What It Used To Be (Disney employees of its animated features while Walt was still alive) Actually, the list sort of wrote itself, since I literally could not come up with more than 23 names. Unless you count might be/might not be alive IMDb picks. Entries below are American, unless stated otherwise. EDIT: How on earth did I miss that Peter Behn is still alive?? tl:dr 1. Cate Bauer 2. Kathryn Beaumont 3. Don Bluth 4. Darleen Carr 5. Marge Champion 6. Paul Collins 7. Mary Costa 8. Alice Davis 9. Lisa Davis 10. Donnie Dunagan (Joker) 11. David Frankham 12. Clint Howard 13. Margaret Kerry 14. Leo De Lyon 15. Burny Mattison 16. Floyd Norman 17. Bruce Reitherman 18. Ethmer Roten 19. Richard Sherman 20. Ruthie Tompson Subs: Lord Tim Hudson, Chad Stuart & Mimi Gibson My main team: Predictor's Predictions No Swedes on it, for the first time. tl:dr 1. John Mark Ainsley 2. George Alagiah (Joker) 3. Radojko Avramovic 4. Brigitte Bardot 5. Christie Blatchford 6. Wilford Brimley 7. H. Rap Brown 8. Bob Dole 9. Mohamed Ennaceur 10. Jeffrey Foskett 11. Carol Gould 12. Gloria Henry 13. Lee Kerslake 14. Vera Lynn 15. Sinisa Mihajlovic 16. Kim Novak 17. Tyne O'Connell 18. Huang Qi 19. Nobby Stiles 20. Alex Trebek

Bill Gates' dad? That's some proper bullshit right there.

Congratulations to Death Impends on a likely victory! Been a while since a DDP winner had at least one unique hit.

DDP main team: This is my highest-scoring year ever at 59 points, even if you were to remove the Drop 40 bonus. For the longest time, I have wanted to get a unique bonus. This year, I got two of them. In terms of number of hits, I'm nowhere close to my record at 8. (B-) DDP theme team: Zero hits for my Olivia's co-stars team. I guess her longevity is contagious. But whatever, it's just a theme team, those aren't meant to be super ambitious, so I'll show some leniency here. (E-) Deathrace: Only one of my entries died throughout the year, and that was after the game had already ended! Grade? This is the kind of performance that sends you off to summer school. (F) Bunny pool: It ain't over till it's over. But in the unlikely event of me not getting 22 hits in the coming 3 days, then I guess I'm still fairly satisfied with how I did. Especially considering that I spent about the same amount of time researching as the above deadpool lasted. (C-) (A+ potentially) Can't recall entering anything else in 2019...

Decided to do a Disney theme team for those involved with their animated feature films while Walt Disney was still alive (died in 1966, so the limit should be The Jungle Book, released in 1967). They are few enough to make DDP 2020 probably the last chance to find 20 people that are eligible. Struggling with the team name; the best I've got so far is "This Knee Ain't What It Used To Be", which is more of (an attempt at) a pun/double entendre than a nostalgic complaint, cuz Disney obviously has made many good films after Walt's death.

So, How’s Your 2020 Shortlist Looking?
Predictor replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Started researching yesterday. Unlike previous years, I want to submit my team asap instead of waiting till new year's eve. *Two are names that I have picked in previous DDPs *One is from my Deathrace 2019 list *Nine are very well-known celebs that I have never selected before *I think six/seven people fall into the "0 mentions on the forum" category *I've dropped my yearly tradition of having a supercentenarian in my team. It's a waste of a valuable slot *The Swedish quota tradition is intact, but it's not easy to find obitable Swedes who are likely to die soon -

My knowledge of Portuguese is a bit non-existent, but apparently, Val Valentino (The Masked Magician) not only doesn't have terminal prostate cancer anymore, but is getting/got married to a Brazilian woman. I'm just waiting for the footage where he reveals how he did it. Another incredible act (at my DDP team's expense, of course). 8 July 2019: https://www.redetv.uol.com.br/atardeesua/videos/ultimos-programas/mister-m-vence-luta-contra-o-cancer-e-se-casara-com-brasileira

One of my 2019 DDP picks was British comic book artist Glenn Fabry. Back in September 2018, it was revealed that he had lung cancer. I included him in my team, which I sent on 29 December 2018. I've just noticed right now that there had been an update on the 28th of that year regarding his illness. Turns out it was tuberculosis all along. His Wikipedia wasn't updated to this fact until February 2019. Happy for the guy, but that's one wasted pick. https://www.bleedingcool.com/2018/12/28/glenn-fabry-tuberculosis-not-lung-cancer/

Plot twist: As scientists dig up Calment's body from her grave, they discover upon close inspection that her body is made entirely out of clay. With the help of a microscope, they notice a small inprint that says "(c) Nick Park".

You mean advice, not hints. Can't believe he's close to 103. I genuinely thought he'd be a goner many years ago.
-
I thought this guy was a dead cert for 2019. Don't believe the hype!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I have 59 points, which is 16 more than my all-time record from DDP 2013. My theme team is doing all the worse (0 points).

I won the baby pool in 2017-2018. Some of you might say that that wasn't a death-related pool, but life and death are intertwined or summat.

This thread should be renamed to "So, how many terminally ill cancer mums that you came across on DailyMail are in your notepad and who will you replace them with when half of them inevitably perish prior to deadline day, and please make multiple vague and cryptic posts to keep us updated because we definitely give a toss about your shortlist?"
