  1. There are so many cases of injustice against African Americans I admit I don't exactly know why this one is the straw that broke the donkeys back. Perhaps it's simply because people are pent up from the covid lockdowns that have simply added yet more disparity to that which was pre-existing.

That doesn't distract from the fact that Americas' overall record on race discrimination is utterly appalling whichever way you view it. It's more a wonder this doesn't happen week in week out than that it happened now. Not that the UK is exactly on the moral high ground here.

Fundraising page? I know gambling might be considered a disease but sheesh the blokes earned and blown more money....

'Best friend' Lineker coughed up a whole grand (euro's at that) from his 1M+ a year licence fee payer salary (pounds). Still, if you're concerned he'd just stick it on the 3:30 at Kempton Park I can see the reasoning.

Don't wish the health thing on him though of course.

  3. Edge of Darkness. The series not the film (barf). you can get it on a site called Daily Motion or something like that with a brief search. Unmissable even 35 years on. But you've presumably seen it. I can't imagine anyone liking chernobyl and not liking it but  you never know.

The Expanse is on Prime, and was mentioned by GCreptile a while ago iirc. It's sci-fi mind you, but not cowboys and indians in space like star wars or for kids like DrWho (ducks, very very, very low).

Get The West Wing somehow or other unless you've already seen it. American, sure, nevertheless one of the best things ever made imo. Same The Wire, but that's drugs (at least in part) so probably a no-no besides you can't fail to know about it.

The Hour, is on Prime, british, historical, about tv news people.

gillian anderson in the Fall, also on prime. Prime suspect ish i suppose.

The Newsroom but not sure where its on. Aaron Sorkin again, like the first 3 or so series of the west wing.

Westworld is on now tv i think, sci-fi again (sort of, no spaceship malarkey), series 1 is good, s2 first half then it drifted off for me, s3 much better.

only my opinion mind and guess from that anyone could chuck more of the same my way too ;)

was going to go back and format all that neatly. cba. sue me.

    I don't.

I believe in the principle of a publicly funded broadcaster but not this shower for a long long while.

You got a like anyway cause the rest is bang on my confirmation bias radar.

From which: "You must be able to read (with glasses or contact lenses, if necessary) a car number plate made after 1 September 2001 from 20 metres."

So Dom, find a car number plate (oh look there's one on your car) and a tape measure (or pace it out).

Save a 30 mile trip, for which "You could be prosecuted if you drive without meeting the standards of vision for driving."

So "Let me see if I'm safe to drive 260 miles by driving 30 as a test with possibly defective vision" is actually illegal.

And if you're not safe, a 30 mile version of Deathrace 2000 as a test does not cut it even if there was no fucking corona virus you utter cunt.

Fuck me, much as I hate little richardjohn: you couldn't make it up.

Mrs Bazaar, you have a forthrightness only matched by some of the more in your face stand up comedians as a rule. But that's a standout quality image even in that company. Eugh and Kudos in equal measure.

  8. hm. zero deaths attributable or reported? I have a feeling that by the time we are on the downside of this, getting any sort of accurate reporting is unlikely? Once it's down to a trickle (relatively) where are we going to get the information?

Can't see them being reported daily if down to single figures longer than a month or so. So, 1st June as the first day none are reported, even if sometime later they are attributed. And I've confused myself now too.

You forgot the no more deaths option.

True but with a worldwide pandemic the like of which hasn't been seen for 100 years and that has just put our PM in intensive care, plus pretty much all of the list having "underlying conditions" you're saying you require that option? Ok, I'll see your no more deaths and raise you any two on the same day and a big row and much obit checking over which was technically first and thus the 8th.

I mean, they are bound to be a good bit cleaner than your average hospital what with all the cleaning staff.

A footman as a hospital porter...

Don't get me wrong I think Liz does a fantastic job and had zero choice about her life, but the whole thing in principle is anachronistic. We need Charlie "Covid? I laugh it off" boy, get a republic soon enough.
