Welcome to the third Kill or Save on DeathList! “Kill or Save” is all about finding the best or the favorite song within one topic. Initially, each song has 20 points. To increase or decrease the number of points, you can award 4 points and subtract 6 in each round. Deduction and addition of points can vary, e.g. add 2 x 2 points or subtract 2 x 3 points. Important: You can only vote once a day to keep it fair. Yes, I know it might get a bit confusing due to the different time zones we all live in, but I'm just appealing for fairness and honesty. So please only vote once a day! You always have to use the last vote as a guide. For a better overview, please mark your voting (e.g. + 2, + 4 or -3, - 6) and classify the song according to its current value. Here are the UK-No.1-songs of the 90s: We start with the years 1990 and 1991, then 1992/93 and so on. From each round 5 songs will enter the last round, the Grand Final, consisting of 25 songs: 1990/91: 34 songs = the last 4 songs will enter the Grand Final 1992/93: 27 songs = the last 4 songs will enter the Grand Final 1994/95: 32 songs = the last 4 songs will enter the Grand Final 1996/97: 48 songs = the last 6 songs will enter the Grand Final 1998/99: 65 songs = the last 7 songs will enter the Grand Final In the Grand Final, the “best” UK No.1 song of the 90s will be chosen by the DeathList forum users! 1990/1991 (no second chance for Band Aid II) 20 New Kids on the Block – Hangin´ Tough 20 Kylie Minogue – Tears on my pillow 20 Sinéad O´Connor – Nothing compares 2 U 20 Beats International ft. Give the crown to the Queen and strike a pose, there's nothing to it – VOGUE! This winner song is so stylish, is the opening act to 90s dance music, it is underground and mainstream at the same time, it is the song where I was asked while dancing on the dancefloor: “You are doing material arts, don't you?”, it is the only Rap part I can sing along with, IT IS VOGUE!!!!! And after Donna Summer and Nena* it's the third solo female winning a Kill or Save on DeathList – I am so proud of all of us, thank you very much! Vogue is an anthem, it's iconic, it's classic, it has style, it has grace, Rita Haywood gave good face... yes yes, I shut up now! VOGUE was a world wide smash, hitting No.1 in the UK, the US, Australia, Canada, Sweden and many more, also beeing a Top 5 hit in nearly every other country with a proper charts system. It said to be the highest selling single of 1990 with more than 6 million copies. While Madonna is now a figure to laugh about, she was on the top of her popularity and influence at the time of the release of Vogue. But I also would like to mention our runner-up, White Towns “Your Woman”, which was a smash at that time and a signature 90s song for me. I even bought the CD single and own it to the very day (what I ca't say abouit Vogue tbh). But now here it is, the top 25 most popular UK No.1 hits of the 90's, chosen by the DeathList Killers and Saviours: 01. Madonna – Vogue 02. White Town – Your Woman (Sir Creep) 03. Fatboy Slim – Praise you (Sir Creep) 04. No Doubt – Don´t speak (DoltonMoney) 05. Shakespear's Sister – Stay (Hell) 06. The Fugees – Killing me softly (Buffalo Phil) 07. Adamski – Killer (time) 08. Coolio ft. L.V. – Gangsta´s Paradise (theoldlady) 09. Ace of Base – All that she wants (En Passant) 10. Tasmin Archer – Sleeping Satellite (Joey Russ) 11. The Verve – The drugs don´t work (Drewsky1211) 12. Manic Street Preachers – If you tolerate this, your children will be next (theoldlady) 13. The Beautiful South – A little time (Toast) 14. The Prodigy – Firestarter (Paul Bearer) 15. Livin´ Joy – Dreamer (Joey Russ) 16. Take That – Back for good (DoltonMoney) 17. Spice Girls – Wannabe (theoldlady) 18. The Shamen – Ebeneezer Goode (Toast) 19. B*Witched – C´est la vie (DoltonMoney) 20. Britney Spears - ... baby, one more time (theoldlady) 21. Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody/These are the days of our lives (ladyfiona) 22. Madonna – Frozen (ladyfiona) 23. Whigfield – Saturday Night (Root Inspector) 24. Cornershop – Brimful of Asha (Paul Bearer) 25. Jamiroquai – Deeper Underground (theoldlady) And the Killer-Queen of the 90s is... no surprise... our @theoldladyagain! Congratulations! You should rename yourself now! 5 theoldlady 3 DoltonMoney 2 Joey Russ 2 ladyfiona 2 Paul Bearer 2 Sir Creep 2 Toast 1 Buffalo Phil 1 Drewsky1211 1 En Passant 1 Hell 1 Root Inspector 1 time A big THANK YOU to all the players in here. This game is nothing without your interset into music, the love, the hate, the discussion, the anger, the shocks and the surprises; still it is a special place in this forum. Keep it save, don't kill it, haha!! And now up tp the 60s, kill them all! *to be fair, Nena was a group at the time of 99 red balloons, but since the 90s Nena was a solo female act, so...

Sorry, I can't post the conclusion of the 90s voting today because I don't have time anymore. I'll make it tomorrow. However, I have already prepared the 60s KoS, which is why I can start it in the near future

Ok, there is a slight trend from my query so I would follow that and prepare a KoS of UK No.1-hits of the 60's. The ESC-winner-KoS (with almost 70 winning songs) can be postponed until later or next year so that we don't have two larger games running in parallel. That wouldn't be a big problem, but we have all the time in the world, so there's no need to rush. Thanks for your opinions! And now keep on killing and keep on saving

-
The KoS poll found that the No.1 hits of the 60s had the second most votes. ESC of course would fit well at the moment. Here, however, I would prefer the ESC winners rather than the UK entries of all years. I've looked up all the UK entries on Wikipedia and am only familiar with a few, the winners are more familiar to me. We can ask all the players: Which KoS should be played after the 90s? - 60s No.1 hits - ESC winning songs - ESC UK entries So... ESC winners for me.
-
Good question. Let's discuss this in the other KoS thread about the latest poll.
