Although the first single release was always more intended as an appetizer for the upcoming album... that's how I always saw it. Of course there are exceptions. I just stumbled across the results of the German No. 1-Voting 1970/1971 (from July 2015!). It cannot be compared to our UK voting, because there are mostly different No. 1 songs, but „In the summertime“ also wasn't very popular. In addition, I would like to point out that „Paranoid“ and „Whole lotta love“ were No.1 hits in Germany in 1970! Very very cool!
