    Deathlist 2011

Make that currently battling terminal liver cancer. But will he get a UK obit? Well you never know, but semi-famous Australians have a poor record of getting DDP-worthy obits... the fact that the terminal nature of his cancer was mentioned as a side-note to an article about the band, as opposed to its own article, adds to the worry. Then again, what do I know? I've been sh*t at guessing who won't get obits this year.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, etc... for 2009

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADY G! If I wasn't in the middle of a library right now, I'd find a sexy picture to post for your birthday. As it stands, however, I'll owe you some Depp or summat at a later date.

    Dead Drummers

I'd say Cheap Trick is better known, based solely on the fact that while I haven't listened to music from either of them, I've at least heard of Cheap Trick.

Just mailed you all the photos of my theme team, with Frans Tutuhatunewa you maybe need to cut and paste a little. Thanks to Vaagheid, I've now got a photo of Tutuhatunewa. If I can get Hart and Falls, I'll be golden.

    Susan Atkins

Parole hearing today No parole for Atkins. In fact, they seem to think that she'll be around for another three years. I picked only one terminally ill person, made them my joker, and everyone else has died. Well, except for Swayze. At least he's on my team.

So I found some free time and managed to cull all the pictures I need for the missing profiles except the following: 1. Alan Hart (the BBC executive, NOT the Middle East reporter - that's what makes it tricky) 2. Robert Hilborn Falls (Canadian Chief of Defence Staff) 3. Frans Tutuhatunewa (President-in-exile of South Moluccas) Any help with those three would be much appreciated. I counted and, in total, there's 116 individuals missing profiles at the moment...

Damn, I was hoping that he'd make 2010... oh well, at least he held on until the CPDP...

Uh, you all know that the Hall of Teams is up and has been up for over a day now, right? Anyways, I've updated the Hall of Ghosts and re-linked it on the main page. Vaagheid, I would definitely appreciate the help, but it's not necessary. I will be visiting Michigan for three weeks starting Saturday and probably won't begin working on the rest of the Hall of Candidates until October, so there's no real rush. I did notice, however, that Louis Jourdan was an old pick that I had missed, so I updated and uploaded his candidate page.

Okay, I think that I got both of those problems fixed.

D'oh! The first of likely many mistakes... luckily not too difficult a fix. I think I fixed it everywhere in the Hall of Teams... let me know if it's popped up anywhere else...

Lady's and gentlemen, boys and ghouls, barring any unforeseen croakitude, we have our winners: In the Theme Team category, with 28 points, it's Never Came To Maryport's Over the Top, and Under the Ground! Let me extend my heartfelt congratulations, along with my wish that we never speak of this again. In the Ordinary Team category, I decided that since I didn't have any particular rules for ties in place at the beginning, I couldn't arbitrarily choose one this late in the game so... our THREE winners of the Ordinary Team category on the 2008-2009 CPDP are: 2 Farts and a Splash! Death Has To Happen Sooner Or Later To Die For So To Die For claims a second title and congratulations all around - this was the first year where every team scored at least a few points! Well, since I'm tired and I've run out of things to say, let's move on to this year's competition. Just now, I've uploaded everything EXCEPT: 1. The Hall of Ghosts 2. The Hall of Candidates 3. Individual candidate pages for picks that have NEVER been picked on the CPDP before. Otherwise, everything should be available to see, so you can all now peruse each other's teams or the pages for the 100+ candidates that have been picked in the past. I did it all in a bit of a hurry, so there's probably plenty of mistakes - please let me know and I'll get right on them.

I've replied to everyone I've gotten teams from thus far - currently we're at 13 teams. Tomorrow is the last day to enter!

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2009

Representing what happened to Ukrainians, which was very very different than what happened to Russians. And yes Windsor, she did end up winning, which is quite impressive given that her final competitor was a half-naked belly dancer.

Site updated to reflect the deaths of Edward Kennedy and Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, both of whom were picked for next year's competition. In fact one person picked both Kennedy and al-Hakim, in addition to one team picking both Kennedy and Dunne. I also awarded 5 Theme Team Bonus points to Misers' (Cardinals) because, I felt anyhow, that his Theme Team was the most clever (well, it always made me smile anyhow...) Anyhow, with Edward Kennedy's death, this year becomes the first year where every team has scored at least some points so well done everyone! Don't forget to get your entries in for next year's CPDP if you haven't already! I've responded to everyone who has sent me an entry thus far, unless you happened to have sent it in the last couple of minutes.

Switched this round from Biggs to Swayze, thus clearing the way for Biggs to actually die.

My theme team didn't have a Canadian - and it got ok'd. So I'm assuming no. Windsor's correct. You don't need to have a Canadian on the Theme Team, which is why the "Canadian Bonus" starts on the first hit there. I was just wondering if can enter the competition? If so what is the latest date I can mail you my list (or am I to late)? how many names should there be on this list? An to what mail adress should I mail it? There are 49 previous pages on this thread I don't have the time to check them all out for this information. I worry about CP's blood pressure at this busy time, so I'll answer for him. Vaagheid (I never did like Ear of Van Gogh, Vaagheid is much better), Rather than read this entire thread, have a look at the rules on CPDP page. Keeping it brief, you need to pick two teams of ten people, one main team and one theme team - e.g Dutch Politicians. All of your picks must have a Wikipedia page. You can enter up until 31.08.09. The email address to send the entry to is on the CPDP page. Thanks DDT! I should also mention that it's not against the rules to create a Wikipedia page for any individual that you're choosing, as long as it lasts. Also, if anyone wants to replace the standard picture for the team, feel free to send me something - as long as it doesn't break GoDaddy's terms of service (ie. mainly pornography) I'll put it up.

Some updates before I do a major update tomorrow (hopefully): Just underwent a medical examination, so it will be interesting to see the results... Apparently he's been touring since June... I'll probably take him off the list if no one objects. Recently appeared on an upcoming album, so might be another good one to take off. Apparently completely cured. Removed from the list. Also cured, also removed. The general gist I get is that he's been pretty cured of his cancer over the past two years - unless there are objections, I'll remove him as well. Sounds like a long and tough treatment, but it seems that she's finally on the mend. Well he's still performing. Don't know if that means he's cured though.

    Robert Novak

Just done a member search for administrators. There are eight admin log-ins and three of them... <name><shame> Death Watch Beatle, football_fan, heaven can wait </shame></name> ... have logged in since Bob died, without bothering to update the site. The idle twunts. Perhaps we need some sort of coup and then appoint some new administrators? Since Grim Reaper pays for the site and for the bandwith, the other admins generally have the respect to let him to do the write-ups. It's not like Novak's going to suddenly come back to life if the site isn't updated anyways...

Updated and responded to all emails sent to me thus far! Well done! I just realized that the CPDP has no official rules for what to do in the case of the tie, which we have in three directions at the moment - right now I'm torn between declaring each person in the tie winner (since I didn't have an official tie-breaker before the competition began) and stealing the DDP's. Opinions may be voiced in public or in private (my message box has space in it for once!).

Hopefully this time if MPFC names a team of supercenterians, the theme team won't be accepted. Sorry, but it goes completely against the grain of what this particular DP is supposed to be all about. I'll be entering my team shortly, but I expect to be mid-table. I'm not entering this to win, more to be as "interesting " as I could ever hope to be. An unofficial rule is that a team must have at least one individual under the age of 100 on it this year. Yes, he slipped through the cracks last year when I was stressing out, but this time I'm as cool as a cucumber. If he hadn't won the Theme Team category this year though, it looks like I would have, so either way, bad news.
