Not sure what he had, but he's apparently "up and about" in hospital now.

I've updated the main list, cleaned up the dead people, updated their ages, removed that opera singer and made a few minor changes. Right now, I'm off to the I&P thread to add the new suggestions. I didn't really check too heard to see if anyone on the list had improved, save for Chris Todd, who's pretty close to being removed, so if there are any suggestions on who should be taken off, post 'em here. Edit: Done with the update, much less painful than I had expected for having slacked off for the past three months.

Deathlist Dreaming
Canadian Paul replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Had a dream about reading about "Jane Goodie"'s death on the DL that was so realistic that it made the leap from dream to memory. I was genuinely surprised to log onto the Internet and find out that she was still alive. It might have had something to do with the fact that I had a conversation last night with one of the most racist people I've ever met. -
Where Will The Next School Massacre Be?
Canadian Paul replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
The United States, simply because they think that there are quick fixes (ban guns on university campuses, take away video games etc.) to problems that have deep social and cultural roots of hierarchy and exclusion that no one in charge in the USA seems to want to admit to. In most other countries, it's either a copy-cat or a lone nut, but the American schools these days are structured around a system that all but breeds the shooty types. I'm not just trashing on the U.S.; Canada is a very fair possibility as well. -

Hockey player Alfred Pike, 91, who was the subject of various argument as to whether or not he had died in 1982 (thus causing me to leave him off my CPDP Theme Team in caution) has died for serious this time.

When I clicked this, I was sure that it was going to be one of those things where you keep clicking and peering into the picture, then all of the sudden some horrid picture pops up and screams at high volume. Interesting stuff, though I suppose you'd have to know where your friends were standing to find them. Or have a lot of spare time on your hands. As for the privacy issue, I don't think that it's unreasonable to assume that if you're going to the public inauguration of one of the world's most powerful leaders that you can at all expect privacy. If something had happened, they're going to want/need to know as much as possible about everyone there. -
C. Letitia Lawson, the second-oldest person in Iowa, has died just over a month shy of her 113th birthday. Who cares? Well it moves ol' Henry up to 14th place, right under Florrie Baldwin.

Well see, now that was your mistake.

The youngest verified World War I veteran, Claude Choules, has just turned 108. Can't really tell much about his health from the article/picture, but perhaps others are more perceptive than I today. Seems to be doing okay, considering his age, which is nice.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, etc... for 2009

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OoO! :( I am now off to burn out my eyes after having made the half-asleep mistake of searching for a combination of the words "sexy" and "Octopus". -

I suspect that there's a lot. Most people I know aren't even aware that you can log out of Facebook. -
Site updated to reflect the deaths of Philip Jose Farmer and Paul Harvey. Well done to TUM for two back-to-back hits on his Theme Team!

Some of the other reports also claim that he has bone cancer. If true, he's not likely to make it much past his 86th birthday, which is too bad. A class act, from what I've heard.

Roast pheasant and Remy VSOP? And here I was thinking I was living the high life with lemon chicken and a couple of pints of microbrew! -
I didn't do it as scientifically as above, but I came to a similar conclusion: Bobby Robson.

Update on her cancer chances here. Despite the above, there's at least one senator who thinks she's on the way out. And it's Ginsburg, just so that we'll have an easier time finding this next time.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, etc... for 2009
Canadian Paul replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DWB I was going to be a smart-ass and post an actual picture of a death watch beetle, but when I combined that with "sexy", this is all that came up, so I suppose you'll have to live with it: -
In the spirit of Japanese picks picked by that team, here's an a Japanese obituary for the fifth-oldest man, Kiyoshi Igarashi.... if these picks were all getting UK obits, it would have been a fantastic strategy...

Kirk Douglas is probably the only oldster on this list actually getting healthier: over the past decade he's going from having a major stroke and being unable to speak, to attending the theatre, to small parts in films and now to a one-man show, apparently. Of course, the title of the show is "Before I Forget", so who knows?

Dead Edward Kennedy/Curse of the Kennedys
Canadian Paul replied to DevonDeathTrip's topic in DeathList Forum
Kennedy office disputes ill-health report. Personally I don't know what to believe.... on one hand, of course his office would say that's he's doing fine, as it's a political necessity. On the other hand, a lot of journalistic endeavours in the United States do tend to exaggerate or sensationalize. In any case, I'm regretting neither leaving him off my current CPDP nor putting him on my current DDP. -
The Hall of Candidates has been, finally, fully uploaded. I'm so excited about that, I'm post whoring. Seriously though, if you notice any mistakes, please let me know and I'll fix 'em up.

A day late, but Gene Siskel died 10 years ago as of February 20.
