See my post in the Walter Cronkite thread. Still doing speaking engagements, or at least in theory. Would be a bad miss, admittedly though.

Augustus F. Hawkins, oldest living congressman, has died at the age of 100. He lived a good life, so no qualms having picked him on my RDP.

Are We Going To Keep Any Of These For Next Year?
Canadian Paul replied to Rotten Ali's topic in DeathList Forum
Voted for Smith. Moore and Vidal would be good ones to see what's going on with them a month from now. -
'Twas a long shower. Site updated to reflect the death of Barbara West.

Didn't even realize that she had been picked. Will get to the updating after a nice long shower.

I can't understand how you could possible deny the evidence of a conspiracy MPFC.

Can't find it now, but there was a picture of him back in 2005 and he looked pretty good for a man approaching 100. Anyhow, since it's getting closer to decision time for DL 2008, I will soon be adding in all the recent suggestions. Any suggestions for people who should be removed (other than the dead ones of course, I'm on that now) are very much welcome, so that we can present something nice and shiny to DLCOM.

Today I got an email allowing me to vote for speakers to come to the university for the leadership conference. One of the potential names was Walter Cronkite. If he can still make his way to and speak and conferences, he must be doing fairly well for himself.

Not without a Wikipedia article. Check the rules again. Points awarded now that there is a Wikipedia article present. Also, for those interested, I'm up to "I" on the candidates.

Back in full health. At least, if you trust Tehran Times. Don't forget that there are no homosexuals in Iran.

Has it? I thought a BBC or Independent Online obituary was needed, and I thought Fox had neither? Or have the rules changed? Any online Canadian news source counts as well, along with CNN and the New York Times. I didn't pick him because I figured he'd never get any of those, but apparentely he sunk the Canadian one. Still no Wikipedia page though, so no points yet.

The anonymous French veteran is anonymous no more. Or living, for that matter.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries ,etc ...for 2007
Canadian Paul replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Handrejka- there are no words out there to express how happy a birthday I wish upon someone who not only loves RHPS, but actually got a chance to ACT in it (even if it was the last role I imagined you in). So HAPPY BIRTHDAY and know that every inch of my literary talent would be devoted to wishing you a happy birthday if I weren't a bit sauced at the moment. -
Drunk? Yes. Bored? Yes. Psychopath. Hell yes. I'd like to give a shout out to my homie Octopus of Odstock. Rock on fool. Also props to my homies keeping it real in Scotland, scsibear and Lady G. To the rockstar in Dallas, CarolAnn. To Madame Defarge Death Barge, keepin' it real. To Star Crossed, fight the man! To NAP and TF, brilliance at its finest. To Windsor, more power to you! To DDT, don't stop belivin'. To FF, damn diggity. To Monoclic, keep repin' Belgizzy. To RA, keep FSA real dawg! To SttG, keep impin' the rep of the big F; Northern Calloway to the max yo. To 'arry... something inspirational! To those I haven't mentioned, feel the love! Down with Banshee's Scream! Fight the opposition! Vive le Quebec libre! We need more DL love.

Thanks. Site updated to reflect the death of Deborah Kerr, putting Dead to the World in second place in the Ordinary Team. Not that this affects the competition, but she also happens to have the most overall points, with 10 Ordinary and 7 Theme Team points. No one, however, picked Joey Bishop, including one person who took him off his DDP and, for the second time, failed to put him on any other lists before the celebrity in question died.

Too good for the Joey Bishop thread are we TH?

Deathlist Dreaming
Canadian Paul replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
After a bit of a drought, a weird one a few days ago. I loaded up the Rotten Deadpool and saw that three people had died on October 10 (I think this was the night of October 10, so the day itself had already passed) - the three were John Babcock, Harrison Ford and Sting. I remember Ford in particular surprised the hell out of me, because he had dropped dead of a heart attack while filming IJ4 and it's about the only time I've woken up from a DL dream and actually thought the person in question was dead (had to check Wikipedia first thing in the morning to reassure myself). Anyhow, I remember OoO chastising me for not picking any of them. He actually looked like Admiral Ackbar, though, which is strange, since usually my subconscious eschews the avatars and creates an image of what the person might look like (see MPFC and 'arry etc.). Anyhow, so that's three more possibilities for my HDP team next year, along with Muhammad Ali and Nicholas Kao Se Tseien from a while back. -
Thanks, site updated. Also fixed the Porterfield page mistake. Also, I got an error message when trying to deliver the last email update to one of the participants. If you didn't get the last email, please send me an email to the pool address and I'll sort it out. Meanwhile, I should be having more time, so I'll try and work on the Hall of Candidates soon.

Soe says the BBC, although they appear to claim that he died today. Maybe the Burmese authorities have been waiting to make the announcement. The first one turned out to be a misquote or something along those lines. It actually happened today.

Footballer Tex Coulter dies on his 83rd birthday. Doesn't mention that in the article itself, but it is wikiality.

Al Oerter's name should be removed from the list. He died from heart failure on october 1. List updated up to October 9, with a few days space left to see how some of the more recent suggestions pan out. I agree with OoOs omissions, save for Ronnie Biggs. I think he'll be next year's Pavarotti... seemingly doing fine, then suddenly dropping in the middle of the year. Not that I'd mind if he dropped this year though.
