60th birthday present: clean bill of health. Say what you want about CNN, but I trust it far more than any Hollywood gossip site.

2nd oldest baseball player Ray Berres has died. That'll be my first HDP hit.

Gian Carlo Menotti, composer, dead at 95.

Nowhere else to put this, so I suppose I'll put this here. Stubbs wheeled out once more. Not even sure what this means to be honest. Also, I've updated the list a bit.

First Cuba, now The Festival of Ideas in April. Not to mention that he's been doing guest voices on a lot of cartoons (Family Guy, Simpsons) lately... I'm not sad that I left him off my list... though I have a feeling I'll come to regret that comment by the end of the year...

Good call.

Site updated to reflect the death of Sidney Sheldon, which puts DDT in first place in the Ordinary Team category.

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

Maurice Vincent Wilkes, somewhat obscurish British computer scientist and second winner of the Turing Award aka. the "Nobel" for computing sciences. Obit assured and he turns 94 this year, but no news on his health. Thought I'd bring him up though, since I stumbled on him accidently. -
She's probably somewhere around the top 100 oldest in the world. Unfortunately the list stops at the age of 110 so if she survives to her next birthday, we'll see how far down the list she actually is. She was born March 20, 1897. Currently there are 84 people validated on the GRG website. There are several non-official cases older than her - Nicholas Kao Se Tseien and Aime Avignon So in theory, she could be as high up as 87th... but there's probably a few non-notables in-between. She's likely in the Top 100 though.

Apparently, this thread is one of the best sources for Ruby Muhammad information - at least according to Wikipedia.

Nope. -
Forget the world's oldest humans, why not the world's oldest organisms. It appears that ol' Charlie the macaw may outlive most of the people of his century...

When Erich Topp died in 2005, he didn't get so much as a mention in the English press. I was toying around with adding Reinhard Hardegen to my list, but decided against it, as I thought it wasn't likely he'd get an obit.

It's not a shame, as animals are no longer allowed on the DL. The "famous fauna" thing would make more sense if a) you hadn't started this topic and he was actually on the list and you were giving legitimate criticism about our choices May I suggest that this thread be merged into Animal Antics or the discussion about the horse from months ago plus Phantom's obit today be merged into this one? [Done -- MH]

So did we ever decide on these? Whose job was it? Mods? Admins? Godot?

The Weatherman Death Pool
Canadian Paul replied to weatherman90's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
To make it easy, here's my team: Art Buchwald Ariel Sharon Charles Haughey Ross Davidson John Tenta Saad Al-Sabah Gabriel García Márquez Ann Richards Windsor Davies (I mean, er... Tammy Faye Messner ) Deborah Kerr -
Weatherman DP opens again March 1st, should we all just pick him and leave the competition to the other nine in the teams? No such thing as a dead cert. They said the same thing about Ronnie Biggs over half a decade ago. Buchwald was told he only had a few weeks and managed almost an entire year. Saad al-Sabah is still kicking. Given the circumstances though, I'll likely be including him, unless I can think of a good "theme team" without him.

Here's a very detailed interview.

No, they're in second place, the same place they were after Bertrand's death.

Finally, I've updated the site for del Toro's death. No change in the scoreboard though.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries ,etc ...for 2007

The answer is in a PM - but your inbox is full, or something! Sorted! There's one precious slot now! -
Read that article too, though I wouldn't have prefixed it with "unfortunately," since I think he's a helluva a guy and on January 24th he became the first Best Actor Winner to reach 90!
-
You all missed an opportunity to raise this sad thread from the dead because it was Oral Robert's 89th birthday on the same day as Ernie B's 90th! I thought that this was a relevant article, but apparently it's just a basketball score.

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries ,etc ...for 2007
Canadian Paul replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Thank you for all the birthday wishes! :D The past week has been an exciting roller coaster from the peaks of uncertainty to the depths of misery and a return last night to a stage of contentment. If anyone's interested, I'm always up for the chat room. P.S. BS, I love Mia Kirshner, and I'm proud to share a birthday. P.P.S. I love the graphic Captain, but what is the little picture that makes up the flag, I can't for the life of me figure it out!
