He's one of the more popular picks for "keep on the list" in that thread too. I'd say given that and some recent articles, he should definitely be included on next year's list. Plus it doesn't hurt that he's, you know, not boring.

Looks like the censor filter has stopped blocking her name. Good for her though! Hopefully people who've picked Howard this year will shift their preferences towards Mr. Mushtaq instead...

My French is a bit rusty, but I believe the gist of this article is that Conte plans on staying in office until 2010.

Graham "88 and Still Strong"

Fascinating. I think that all the glorious WWII movies have eclipsed the first Great War... someone should really do an epic in colour about WWI and bring it to life... these photographs are distinctly unique but, as can be expected with the technology of the time, not really much for action shots. Where's Saving Private Heinz?

Nor would I consider him "Not Famous Enough..." 19 Emmys and interviews with everyone from Timothy McVeigh to the players involved in the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case. I haven't seen Headline News CNN make such a big deal about someone's death in ages.

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

Relevant article. -
I wanted to put him in Near Misses, since I thought I'd mentioned him somewhere, but I suppose not. Anyhow, Sci Fi writer Nelson Bond, dead of heart problems at age 97.
-
Well who would have guessed this? Ed Bradley dead of leukemia, age 65.

Former Gerald Ford bodyguard dies. Not Ford news, but seems like an interesting fellow nonetheless. And let us not forget, Ford is now a mere two days away from breaking Reagan's longevity record.

Happy 88th Birthday to Mr. Graham, who is still milling about in his robotic-like way!

Who's Going To Be Around For A While?
Canadian Paul replied to Banshees Scream's topic in DeathList Forum
I think it's a crappy angle. According to this, he'll be co-hosting a benefit this week. -
Doesn't it count, via DDP definition of an "obituary," if they are mentioned in Sadaam's obit?

Upon installing Firefox II, all problems appear to have been solved for me. I'm excited to once again engage in the fulfilling discourse that is Death List Chat.

The only reason I'd be cautious with this one is: a) It's election time b ) This is the first news I've ever heard of him being anything but perfectly healthy Just my two cents. Certainly wouldn't be foolish to keep an eye on him.

Haha, this weekend taught me that sometimes modesty can be ignored. Well done FF! Obit came with ease of course, so I'll update later tonight, my time. I knew someone would die while I was out. Thought it'd be John Archibald Wheeler to be honest though. I'm going to be counting this as death from a stroke by the way, which means infarction bonus is applicable.

You Write The Headlines . . .
Canadian Paul replied to Death Watch Beatle's topic in DeathList Forum
I haven't read all the previous suggestions, but the two that I suggested earlier were Charlton Heston: I guess we can take the gun now... Charles Lane: "Lane" to rest Perhaps more later when I review this thread. -
ff will get a fair few CPDP points, I had Ecevit in my RDP team so that's a small consolation. Indeed, another RDP hit is always welcome, even if he's not in any of my other pools. CPDP points are of course forthcoming, but I'll be getting to that thread in a few moments.

To play Devil's Advocate (and possibly to use that term incorrectly), this does give some credence to MPFC's "Lindsay Hughes is terminally ill" claim.

Don't worry, Tempus Fugit has already come and saved the day!

Added November 1 by I.P. 172.200.180.137. That one of ours mods?

Excellent! I highly reccomend him for DL then. Though I know DL has a policy against criminals to be executed, he is a) Global, as we can see by the breadth of articles b ) Notable, given his gas attacks and his desires to see nuclear devices c) Interesting, a blind cult leader is always a fun subject of discussion d) Going to die, clearly!

Though I have a strong feeling that he's been mentioned before, I couldn't find any reference and it's probably a good time to bring him back to the front anyhow - Jean, Grand Duke of Luxembourg. He abdicated over 6 years ago in favour of his son, will be turning 86 on January 5 and has remained awfully quiet in recent years. That, of course, means that there's no health news out there. Does anyone know why he abdicated? Health reasons or just a desire to end the general tedium?

Still can't get in, despite doing the above and restarting my computer. I'll try again after this weekend, but given that my machine is shite, it may be the end of DL chat for me.

While we're on the subject of condemned prisoners (and to keep this post relevant, I've seen conflicting reports that claim he's to be executed on December 31 and "sometime in January 2007"), Shoko Asahara. Actually, I'm just curious why OoO thinks he'll be dead (ie. executed) within 6 months. Not doubting, just curious, as I think he could make a fun DL candidate. Usually authorities don't make execution dates easy to find as, as we can see in Hussain's case, even when they do it's not usually helpful. Also, while we're at it, if you could find an execution date for Cool C OoO, that would be nice.
