He may also become the Mussolini of this Arab revolution, which would be a nice little historical touch. regards, Hein

Things To Do While Waiting For Death

Take revenge after 71 years. Google is, as they say, your friend. regards, Hein -
I suppose the makers of that show don't know their classics: nomen est omen. regards, Hein

Talking to yourself again iain/guest? My advice to Iain is: hold a cell phone while talking to yourself. It doesn't have to work, it can be switched off, it can be one that was binned. Holding it doesn't make your condition better, but people won't notice it. regards, Hein

If he wishes to slog it out with his people, his prognosis isn't good indeed. I don't expect him to flee Libya voluntarily. His words: may well come true. Being a martyr, while glorious, has its drawbacks. The main one is being dead. regards, Hein

Not Seen Any Good Films/movies
Magere Hein replied to Paul Bearer's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
There must be thousands of films I haven´t seen: Most films made in Hollywood. Most films made in Europe. Almost all films made in India, China, Japan and other furrin´speaking nations. Some films I deliberately didn't watch. Titanic was such a one. The most recent film I didn't want to watch was Geert Wilders' My Struggle Fitna. regards, Hein -

Wikileaks have published a diplomatic cable which suggests that deposed President Ben Ali has been suffering from prostate cancer since 2003.Ben Ali now reportedly in a serious condition following a stroke.Do you suppose that having power was keeping the likes of Ben Ali and Mubarak alive. They have been gone for less than a month and they are both now said to be seriously ill.In a coma: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/02...?section=justin I suppose their hubris is so huge that they can't accept the fact that their people have rejected them, leading to their health declines. And Hmm, no serious news sites have the story yet, the few that (according to Google) have, all claim their source as "[a]ccording to reports from France 2". Interestingly, France 2's website's most recent article (au Français) about Zine El Abidine Ben Ali still has him in a coma. I think reports about his death belong in the Rumours Department, but I´d love the idea that mr Ben Ali took only 36 days to prove me right. regards, Hein -

Dutch cyclist and Olympic champion1 Fedor den Hertog dies, aged 64. No English news source yet. 1As in: he was a member of the team that won the 1968 Olympic Team Time Trial. His team mates were Joop Zoetemelk, René Pijnen and Jan Krekels, all very much alive. Apart from Zoetemelk they´re not exactly DDP material, perhaps ones to keep an eye on over there at PNDP. regards, Hein

Things are changing and I wouldn't be surprised when a more Islam oriented party comes into power, but I don't think it'll be along Iranian lines, for several reasons. There's a considerable Christian minority in Egypt. They've been suffering from heavy discrimination and they'll want a say in things. Most, if not all, Egyption Halibuts are of the Sunni persuasion, rather than Shia. There's, to the best of my knowledge, no religious leader in exile waiting to take over power. If Egypt will indeed move toward a more democratic political system (which isn't clear at this moment) fears for a second Iran seem rather unfounded. BTW, I congratulate the People of Egypt with their fine victory. Which country is next? regards, Hein

Gravitational attraction: Neither has the energy, nor inclination to reach escape velocity to climb out of the gravity well of the other. It's a Good Thing then that Really Fat People don't travel much, as they would eventually get so massive that they form a singularity, sucking in all matter that gets within their event horizon. regards, Hein

All these health scares over the years and yet still he hangs on. Think he's toying with us all, the old rascal I don't think this is the end, but should the bestworst happen, we can always try to get a t-shirt on his hearse. Or his grave. regards, Hein

If I may give some unsollicited advice, do both: change the password, delete all contacts from your address book and all received and sent emails. Then either abandon the account or request removal of it by Yahoo. Think of those innocent email addresses sitting there and being kidnapped by the Monsters from Spamosphere... regards, Hein

Hmm, I got a similar email. I already emailed TMIB about this. I suspect that his computer and/or mailer have been infected by some malware that's sending out spam. I have no idea how harmful the sites are that those URLs point to, but I'm going to put a bit of censorship in. I have enough entertainment with spammers as it is. regards, Hein

I admit that this is the first time I hear mr Olsen's name, although I've used DEC equipment from the early 1980's. The first Real Computer (as opposed to a toy computer like my brother's Acorn Atom) I used in 1981 was a VAX at Uni. The year after I took my first steps in programming on a DEC Rainbow, a PC lookalike/wannabe running PC/M. Later I bought a surplus PDP-11, complete with a DECwriter terminal. I suppose mr Olsen has gone to the bit bucket now. regards, Hein

Today in 1894, famous Belgian1Adolphe Sax, inventor of the saxophone, died. 1Just to annoy my language brothers south of the border: strictly speaking was he a Dutchman, as, at his birth in 1814, what's now Belgium was part of the Sovereign Principality of the Netherlands, which would become the Kingdom in March 1815. regards, Hein
