Funny, that's the second time in three days that that songs pops up in an online discussion I'm reading. The other was in a Usenet newsgroup, talk.origins. regards, Hein

I think you can redeem those here. regards, Hein

At the end even the Frenchie relized that the common Brit is empty-headed. For heaven's sake lighten up, its a quote from Monty Python. Now go away, or I will taunt you a second time! regards, Hein

Bibiana, aka Vivian. Charming. I suppose worshipping this saint wil eventually work miracles. In Terry Pratchett's Hogfather Bilious, the oh god of hangovers, is presented. I now know where Pterry got the idea. regards, Hein

And the size???? Size doesn't matter, or so I'm told. regards, Hein

C'est moi. You'll be lucky. Christian nations have been at war with each other ever since Charlemaine, most of the time when there was just one religion around in Europe. Several Popes have cheerfully sent their troops in the fray. I'm not very hopeful I'll live to see the outbreak of world peace, but I'm quite sure that it won't happen as long as many people think their religion makes them better than heretics and infidels. regards, Hein

From an Argentinian news bureau (Télam) I got the news that our hero is to undergo an operation to reduce his stomach, because of his obesity. I can't find it in English news sources yet. regards, Hein

I avoid hurting one's beliefs, as I know that beliefs often are quite precious to those who hold them. On the other hand, I believe the imagery of organised religion is a worthy target of irreverent jokes. After all, it's not the pretty pictures one believes in, is it? I know you mean this well, but I think there are more important things to pray for. Of course your time is yours to spend, but if I would have any say in it, I'd prefer prayer for, say, world peace or abolition of hunger. regards, Hein

That's quite simple: I think it's a nice quote. One doesn't have to believe that the Bible is the Word of God to appreciate that book. Yes, I know. If you have a look at this online dictionary you may be surprised to learn that what I posted is not blasphemy. I cheerfully admit it isn't very respectful to RC priests, but then they're priests, not the god they think they're the ground crew of. I appreciate that. I don't claim to be very knowledgable about Christianity in general and Roman Catholicism in particular, but trust me: ignorant I'm not. I just don't believe their teachings, including those about an eventual afterlife. I assure you that what happens after my death is the least of my worries. I wholeheartedly agree. Yet I think we disagree quite a bit about what the truth of the matter is. regards, Hein

You're the first one to comment on my .sig, so I think that warrants a reply. Honez has already asked the right questions about the context of the quote, so I won't delve deeper in that bit. I chose this verse, because it seems rather appropriate in this forum. As to what it means: like with every bit of scripture it's the reader who decides that. So you think that I'm mean. Well, that's your privilege. I think I'm just poking fun at Roman Catholic iconography. Not much. I'm not a Christian, so the word is meaningless to me. I must admit, though, that quite a few things Christians consider a sin are popular pastimes, both with Christians and infidels. This reminds me of something Robert A. Heinlein once wrote: "Yield to temptation; it may not pass your way again." What exactly is blasphemous about my postings? I don't think many people agree with that. regards, Hein

I don't wish to be heretical, but taken out of context the quote could get one into a whole heap of trouble. As in: you mean? regards, Hein

Is that perversions or provisions (or both) Yes. regards, hein

The comments are getting better by the minute, I see. This one gives me a stretching feeling in one of my legs, though. Anyway, the DDP may expect a considerable growth in the number of teams next year. regards, Hein -

Amazingly, Fallen Sparrow did not pick him in his DDP. There's still hope for us mere mortals. regards, Hein

As I understand it Roman Catholics throughout the world experience this kind of visions on a regular basis. The difference is that they aren't taken seriously, for good reasons. There's no denying that. regards, Hein
