    Deadpool Detective Work

There is - or was - a way of doing it via tax records. But you would have to know what tax district they lived in to do the search. It was the only way we found the death of an old Italian racing driver as we knew where he lived. The website is https://agenziaentrate.gov.it/portale/web/english but I can't see anything linking to a search function any more.

Isn't someone here related to Mr McC and said they were in fine fettle?

If cause of her death is revealed, it should be good for another few pages.

He was at both funerals today. Looked his age but not too bad.

    Duchess of Kent

I would imagine those still alive who were at King George's funeral must be in single digits now.

    Duchess of Kent

Diana's funeral: The ceremony at Westminster Abbey opened at 11:00 BST and lasted one hour and ten minutes. The royal family placed wreaths alongside Diana's coffin in the presence of Britain's living former prime ministers – John Major, Margaret Thatcher, James Callaghan and Edward Heath – and former Conservative MP Winston Churchill, the grandson of World War II-era Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill.[25] International guests included Sir Cliff Richard, US First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, William J. Crowe, French First Lady Bernadette Chirac, Egyptian First Lady Suzanne Mubarak, Queen Noor of Jordan, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Sir Elton John, George Michael, Chris de Burgh, Michael Barrymore, Mariah Carey, Richard Branson, Luciano Pavarotti, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Richard Attenborough, Ruby Wax, as well as Imran Khan and his then wife, Jemima Khan.[25][26][27] The prime minister, Tony Blair, read an excerpt from First Epistle to the Corinthians, Chapter 13: "And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love".[28] Among other invitees were the King of Spain, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Japan, the deposed King Constantine II of Greece, and South Africa president Nelson Mandela.[29] The Archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey, and the Dean of Westminster, Wesley Carr, were also present in the abbey and delivered the bidding, the prayers, and the commendation.[30] The service was sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey and conducted by Organist and Master of the Choristers, Martin Neary; the organist was Martin Baker.[30] Music before the service included the hymn Quite a lot, including George Michael, Pavarotti, the three former PMs and Nelson Mandela for starters. Future scavenger hunt definitely. Can't believe Michael Barrymore was there!

That BBC link I posted earlier that said she was there has now removed her as an attendee.

The grand Old Duke of Kent

Just reading about the funeral procession in 1952 and the Duke of Kent, then just a teenager, walked behind the coffin with Prince Philip, Prince Henry and the Duke of Windsor. Surely this makes him the only person directly involved in both funerals?

    Duchess of Kent

Could she have been with the Earl of Airlie, Lady Pamela Mountbatten and other aged Royals? I can't see Lady Mountbatten in that group either but enough news agencies said she was there?

The grand Old Duke of Kent

I still believe that the Duke of Kent will be the next Royal death, but his efforts to walk unaided up the Abbey, no matter how much he struggled, means I think he might well see 2024. If he hadn't walked at all, then I think he would be a cert for 2023. His younger cousin, the Duke of Gloucester looks in fine fettle, considering how far a near 80 year old walked.

    Duchess of Kent

Duchess of Kent WAS there https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62890879 Probably didn't focus on her out of respect, same way they didn't focus on poor old Duke of Kent as he struggled through the Abbey.

    The Chequered Flag

Take it from me, he's fine, I'm in regular contact with him or his team. He's just tired from his busy schedule and it was also announced yesterday that his wife's dementia has now taken a downturn. JYS is deeply involved and rather than him wilting away after Lady Helen dies, I think he'll get some vigour back to fight more against dementia. I'm not sure he'll make 90 but I think he should be alright for about 5 years.

    Oldest Living football league players

I am getting towards the end of the additional players born from 1930-1932 to add to the oldest players list. 1930 and 1931 is done, with a bit of work to go for 1932, but hope to have it uploaded here by the end of the year. Thanks to @Ulitzer95, the GRO Index has revealed that one chap from the original list who won't be on the new one is Keith Francis who died back in 2019: FRANCIS, KEITH ROY 1929 GRO Reference: DOR Q4/2019 in SOMERSET

As posted elsewhere, Sammy Chung has died, but so too has Tommy Carpenter, Watford's oldest player and one of the oldest verified as still alive: https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/20847517.former-watford-players-chung-mcneice-carpenter-die/

Nothing concrete as to affliction but if Peter Windsor says he's ill, he is ill. Laffite and Tambay have Parkinsons. Can't seem to embed the tweet for some reason; Here's wishing the very best to three ace, French #F1 drivers who are not very well - Jacques Laffite, Patrick Tambay and Jean-Pierre Jabouille.

    Hollywood Possibilities

It's a Wonderful Life is my favourite film ever by miles. I'm only really a film buff with Jimmy Stewart films.

    Hollywood Possibilities

I am so very sad to read this, but realistically, 97 is a quite fabulous age to reach. Poor Carl Switzer did not get anywhere close. Her role in the film is small but significant, and is one of the key moments in the film when George Bailey realises his future will always remain in Bedford Falls.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2023

I've posted on here a few times before, that pre-lockdown, I would see him all the time, shopping at Tescos and Asda in Hatfield and generally looking and moving like a man fifteen years younger. He used to go to the gym too quite often. Since lockdown, I've not seen him once. Granted my shifts changed to later in the day than lunchtime but even so I would've expected to catch him once. Unless he's had a fall, I would simply imagine he's either changed shopping pattern to go at quieter times or simply, at his age, isn't as active. But as of early 2020, he was in great health and is retired from acting.

Arthur Ashe was not gay. Many died in a similar way to Ashe.

    Political Frailty

I think the biggest problem here is that the political fraility thread is too 'catch all'. I'm not sure many will agree but I've always felt like there should be: UK politicians thread North American politicians thread South East Asia thread and so on. We check this thread to see if Winnie Ewing is finally dead and find we are now talking about Dao Minh Quan instead and I just feel it's too cumbersome a thread. Arghton's efforts deserve a place here but maybe in it's own sub thread.

    Who are the immortals?

Peter is a good acquaintance of mine. He's well into his 90's, but his cancer is slow-moving and the treatment he's taking for it works well keeping him active as he still makes a few visits outside Yorkshire. His burns suffered in 1966... I think they would have had more effect now to be honest. PP seems to me to be the person who might go downhill quickly if his wife - Shirley - dies first. Otherwise, I'd hazard a guess that he'll see 2024.
