Oh dear. I mean, at 98, one shouldn't be too sad, but Watson was one of the few living links not just to silent films but to some of the legends of 1930's film. The one that comes to my head is Mr Smith Goes to Washington.

Danny Ongais, former Formula 1 and Indianapolis 500 driver, has died, aged 79: The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America is deeply saddened to report that Ezekiel “Danny” Ongais passed away Feb. 26, 2022 in Anaheim Hills, California from congestive heart complications. He was 79. A masterful road racer, open wheel racer, motorcycle rider and drag racer, "Danny On-The-Gas" aka "The Flyin' Hawaiian" was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2000. One of the greatest crew chiefs of his era said that Ongais was, quite simply, "the most talented driver I ever worked with." Rest In Speed, Danny

I deserve it for not embedding the tweet!
-
Nope, he's sticking to the story! Woke up to some fake account posting a retraction. We do not know that account and we have not retracted our story. There has yet to be an official statement from the Palace. Staying tuned. I can't embed the tweet for some reason..

With no cause of death or 'short illness' you do have to wonder if it was suicide. Not that it helps to speculate. Terrific player but hated by us Reading FC fans for his excellence at Poxford and Swinedon. Awful news though.

I doubt Hellstrom will get a SPOTY obit. They cover the British players in great detail but there were a whole host of notable foreign players who weren't in the 2021 list. That's why I didn't go for Hellstrom myself. I'll be happy to be proved wrong.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

What a thoroughly sad story from beginning to end. She made her own choices in life but a paupers grave with no-one at her funeral is so very tough to read. -
The grand Old Duke of Kent
Octopus of Odstock replied to Octopus of Odstock's topic in DeathList Forum
Well, he can certainly stand (no stick or aid in sight) on a winter's day without too much trouble, but he looks so awfully, awfully gaunt. That can't be a good thing at his age. -
Norman was a frequent header of the ball, so I wonder if it's dementia linked, but not confirmed to the media. I really can't understand why there is such desperation to announce deaths on social media, it's getting worse and worse. Surely just wait for the club to announce it officially via the family. In Norman's case, he is a legend for Spurs so it's not as if he'll die under the radar.

Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread
Octopus of Odstock replied to M Busby Airlines's topic in DeathList Forum
Wasn't sure where to post this but went for this thread in the end. Former Emmerdale executive producer between 1975 and 1979 (272 episodes in all), David Cunliffe, died on New Year's Day. Also had a long and distinguished career in television as a director. https://twitter.com/GregScottTV/status/1481688912863154179 -
Yes, gcreptile posted it in September last year. Spade brought the thread back.
