Zanardi is now communicating with his family after more surgeries. https://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/38709/alex-zanardi-is-able-to-speak-to-his-family-after-most-recent-surgery-report Someone, however, no longer communicating with his family is Gimax (Carlo Franchi), a non-qualifier in 1978 who died today https://www.sempionenews.it/sport/addio-a-gimax-una-vita-vissuta-a-200-allora-intervista-alla-moglie-mirella/?cn-reloaded=1

Oldest Living football league players

Tom Docherty died 28th December, just for those who keep records. This report, although slightly biased, is claiming Bob Gray is the oldest living keeper in the football league - https://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-chronicle-9c96/20201207/282394107023959 Now, I am STILL waiting for the probate from Trevor Churchill and until GRO comes along or the probate, I can't confirm if it's our man. But if Gray is the oldest, then Syd Ward (1923) must be dead too. (probably is to be fair). -
I've decided I will enter a football team for DDP 2022, left it too late to decide to enter this year. Probably a combination of dementia, oldest and World Cup. PS 7 people only chose Duke of Kent. Shocked and appalled.

That's the power of a OoO footballers with dementia thread for you

I searched for Screech. Maybe someone could merge these posts?

Sorry to hear this. I remember him from Call Northside 777 where his role as 'copy boy' was actually more significant than it appears on paper.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

No he isn't. His son, of the same name, was the leap year baby. Sabàto Sr. Was in a host of predominantly Italian made movies but is possibly best known as Nino Barlini in the 1966 John Frankenheimer film Grand Prix. PS in future, Google is your friend. -

Not quite true. You started the Larry King thread for one. Albeit that was 15 years ago and this was at the height of new thread starting. Old Crems recent thread flurry is nothing compared to 2004-2006 -

Very sad to hear this. Two of Reading's oldest players dead within a matter of days. Not just that, but our two left-halves in 1954/55 were Docherty and Eddie McLaren! Probate hasn't come back for Trevor Churchill yet, but I'm sure it's the same man as the footballer and I sincerely doubt Bill Parker is still alive. So from 1924 and 1929, I think Reading's oldest player is now Dave Jones, who is 89 tomorrow (7th January). Bit of a leap. -
Dear old Savvas is still alive, but his wife, Pete's mother is now 'poorly'. If she is as poorly as Savvas was in 2009, then she'll be fine. Link: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/entertainment/devastated-peter-andre-begged-australian-23273238

Dementia afflicted footballers
Octopus of Odstock replied to Octopus of Odstock's topic in DeathList Forum
2 for the price of one - both brothers., George and Hugh Ryden. There were five brothers in total - 3 played football, 2 didn't. All 3 who played football had or have dementia. The other 2 don't/didn't. Link (lambasting, rightly, the PFA as well) https://www.pressreader.com/uk/daily-mail/20210105/283167201187978 -

That's why I'm amazed CoffinLodger beat Thatcher to Alan Igbon"s death. -

Thanks Thatcher. Very sad news indeed, albeit expected. -
Jean Harlow (died 1937) as well.

Same here. A thankless task twelve years ago and I can't imagine it's any better now.

I've redone the first post - largely because the formatting was horrendous (it's not great now, but it's better) but I thought It better to have the whole workings as well for research purposes. It's in order of birthdate and it's one list now. -
I agree, the man deserves a thread. Can't believe committee ignored him.

Exactly, what a legend. Could've chosen any country in the World and he chose Liechtenstein! Legend is that he is now a Buddhist monk in Thailand.

How many hits this year (Pauls version)

22 I see a lot of deaths in the first few Covid-19 ravaged months and then natural selection will take the rest. -
Slightly disappointed not to see the Duke of Kent on the DL, but fully understand why.

Aldo was another to fall foul of COVID-19, its since been revealed.

Aldo Andretti, my loving twin brother, my partner in crime and my faithful best friend every day of my life was called to heaven last night. Half of me went with him. There is no eloquence. I'm shaken to my core. https://t.co/NJ3fZxklNo Mario Andretti's twin brother Aldo has died quite suddenly yesterday. Also raced, albeit nowhere near the level of other members of the family. Grim year for the Andretti's.
