This post has reminded me that Ancestry family trees were one area I hadn't yet checked. Now I have, with aplomb. Jerry Jones died 13th May 1995, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Arnold Jackson died 14.2.2017, Preston, Lancs Bert Williams died 2nd December 2008, Welland, Ontario, Canada John McBride died 4 Dec 2015, Sydney, NSW, Australia (for reference, he was born 31/12/1924) Ken White d. Jul 2005, Yorkshire I would much rather there are 140 living footballers than 40, but I would rather celebrate the living and clear those definitely gone. -

Some small updates: Daniel Flanagan (1924) is no longer listed by Notts County's Former Players Association as being alive. Harry Jarvis is though. Herbert Jones (1929) died on the 16th April 2020. There is a will for Trevor Churchill but with no other information. I've ordered a copy to ascertain if it is THE TC, but I have good reason to believe it is. -

He was still alive as recently as 2016. He's not in the GRO index from 2016-2019 so one has to presume that he is still going. As for the oldest manager? I think so, I don't think any of the pre-1924 players alive (or maybe alive) ever managed. Tony Collins (born 1926) is the oldest most obvious managerial name still alive that stands out. Docherty and O'Farrell too, of course, -

More on Bulloch's lack of signing here. https://www.google.com/amp/s/starwarsautographnews.com/2020/04/02/jeremy-bulloch-no-longer-signing-through-the-mail/amp/ The fact he doesn't say he is stopping but his wife does on his behalf and the fact his website hasn't been updated for two years makes me fear the worst.

Tom Conti is fine and still acting https://www.whatsonstage.com/london-theatre/news/iain-glen-will-young-royal-windsor-season_52559.html To be fair, there's not been much for elderly actors to do over the last seven months or so.

Jeremy Bulloch, of Boba Fett Star Wars fame, is no longer signing anything. At the last signing he did, at his home, he looks much older now. It's hard to judge by photos but it seemed more if a strain than just a few years back https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1613384572135349&id=317979738342512&set=a.639512109522605&source=48 There are more photos, none that flattering, further down the FB page.

Indeed. I have no idea who this chap is, or who his partner/wife is but they are a young family. I wish them well and maybe with a bit of luck and experimental treatment might get at least 3 or so years together, if not more.

Don't worry, some things never change, from a veteran of those halcyon days. Canadian Paul was moaning about iain back in 2006....

Douggie Webb, who played for Reading for over 10 years but whose career was eclipsed by his son Neil, has died. Facebook Post for now, I'm sure more will follow. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=5129002657125999&id=532268070132837

97 today! Happy birthday!

The mention in the sci-fi thread of the death of John Cannon led me to a site that focuses on signings. Not only did they have a recent picture of John, they reported the death, not apparently noticed here of Penny McCarthy, who played Kardue'sai'Malloc in Star Wars A New Hope. She was 77. https://indiemacuser.co.uk/2020/09/17/original-star-wars-actress-passes-away/

I met Chris Nicholl when he was manager of Southampton, which to me feels like only yesterday. Lovely, lovely man. His plight saddens me greatly. Quality player by all accounts.

Nehemiah Persoff for context. -
Gregory and Seddon feature heavily in this as does Barbara Morgan. All looking very well as does Crippen from an earlier era.

No, the last recording is of the pilot one second before the explosion. It is not known how many died instantly but apparently all of them would have been rendered unconscious instantly.

Covey was, yes and looked very well. The other two, no.

Kenneth McAlpine, former racing driver, founder of Connaught Engineering, former High Sherrif of Kent, vintner, a WW2 fighter pilot, former chairman of McAlpine Helicopters and a director of the McAlpine construction company, as well as being a former Governor of Eastbourne College is 100 today.

That obituary has wonderful wording as a euphemism for death. He dies barely months after another Indomitable Lions of Cameroon great defender Tataw Eta Stephen embarked on the journey to the world beyond.

Just watched the fascinating Challenger disaster documentary on Netflix. Many ex-astronauts featured look in good shape, although Richard Truly looks quite doddery now. Larry Mulloy, effectively painted as the bad guy, doesn't look great but his boss, William Lucas, looks very well at 98. Joe Kilminster, of Morton Thiokol, clearly has some Parkinson-related disease but his voice was relatively strong. Its surprising how many key players to the disaster, then in their mid 50s, are still going. Maybe karma for the seven who died early if you believe in that kind of thing.

1953 - Doug Holden.

I think we all missed this - apologies if it was posted. Harry Hooper, a member of England's 1954 squad that never ended up winning a full cap for them, died in late August - https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/august/28-august/harry-hooper-1933-2020

It's on the right hand side where the grey heart is. You can choose like, thanks, sad, ha ha, face-palm and a few others.
