In that case he'll probably drop dead by the end of the year

I believe Annie Knight from Aberdeen is Britain's oldest person at the moment. she turned 111 on June 6th

Ernest Gallo isn't the nicest person in that line of business. I believe he also prevented his youngest brother from using the family name to market a line of cheeses. Which I have to confess isn't such a bad idea. I'm no fan of American wines and even less of a fan of American cheeses

Ermmm Lizzie Bolden got just one mention. Such a shame really

In all honesty, if I had gotten to it first, I probably would have posted it in Near Misses too, just due to his age and the iconic status of your picture. As you've pointed out, however, it's not a cut-and-dry case. I think in the end, it's got a lot to do with how many deaths you post. If I were to do it, I'd probably have gotten away with it, or perhaps a light disagreement or two, whereas it's natural to view iain's submissions with a cautious eye. Overall I'd say near miss, but also wouldn't argue with those who disagree. CP, I think Rosenthal unfortunately falls into the category where his photo is more famous than he is.

A bit of trivia... Ernest Gallo is ranked by Forbes as #283 in the list of the 400 richest Americans

He may have only served 2 years, but he is entitled to a state funeral. There have been much worse presidents and some have served even less than Ford From The Simpsons We are the mediocre presidents! You won't find our faces on dollars or on cents There's Taylor, there's Tyler, there's Fillmore and there's Hayes There's William Henry Harrison, "I died in thirty days" We are the adequate, forgettable, Occasionally regrettable Caretaker presidents of the USA!

From what I understand, Mickey Rooney should not be apart of Deathlist 2007. Depending on situations involving his health, i'll safely say a couple of years... He'll be a singin' and dancin' 'til the day he dies. good old Mickey, a real old time entertainer. In some ways Mickey Rooney scares me, especially getting Jerry Falwell to renew the wedding vows between him and his wife.

I'll probably be getting a new portable cd player and an mp3 player to replace the ones that were stolen from my car last week. Daft bugger that I am forgot to note down the serial numbers in the manuals. I shan't forget next time, and also I'll remember to lock my bag in the boot / trunk or at least drag it into the shop with me.

I think Iain confuses a mention on CNN as being proof of someone's fame. Stanford Newman got a mention on CNN, but unless they saw Newman's cigars being sold or even smoked them and knew a little about the company, they wouldn't have a clue who he was. Although he does claim that Rosenthal's death was famous. so I guess he wasn't famous when he was alive

Saddam's back in court again This time he's on trial for genocide, but refuses to enter a plea.

I suspect the statement will be that he is due to be released from Mayo Clinic in the next couple of days. They kept him in over the weekend for "testing & evaluation".

Iain, How about photographers such as David Bailey? I'd say he is more famous than Joe Rosenthal. In fact if I mentioned Rosenthal's name to most Americans, they'd say "who?" They may recognise the photo, but wouldn't have a clue as to the name of the photographer behind the camera. The only other remarkable thing about the photo, was that it was used for a postage stamp here in the US. The thing about it was that the soldiers featured in it were still alive. Usually a person can not appear on a postage stamp unless they're dead. The only other time this has happened I believe was a photo of one of the first Model T Fords and the driver of the car featured in that photo was still alive. But I honestly wouldn't say that Joe Rosenthal is a world famous photographer, he's known just for that one photo

I wish Bobby Robson a speedy recovery from his forthcoming operation. Also hoping that he doesn't die this year or I'll never hear the end of it from my dad as I talked him out of putting him on his DP list for our sweepstake

You're kidding! I would never have guessed in a million years that it was false information

Stanford Newman son of entrepreneur J.C. Newman and also owner of the J.C. Newman cigar factory has died at the age of 90

Unfortunately not! However on my deadpool, I try to avoid ill people, but sometimes put them in so the rest of the office can look them up to see who they are 75 Today Well he was 74 when I posted it at first With deep and sincere respect, Billy Graham has already passed on. Billy Graham is still alive, however concert promoter Bill Graham died in 1991

Have no reason to panic, if we don't match the pervious year's total, we just go back to the drawing board and review the selections and see if we can improve our prediction skills. Of course it doesn't help when people over exaggerate on the health of certain celebs
-
Note how there haven't been many famous people dying recently, also note how select people have been as to what actually is deemed to be a near miss

Doherty to stay in rehab

I have no idea who he was, but I think I like him. I've never seen him on tv, but I've heard of him as he was occasionally mentioned in Caterer and Hotelkeeper magazine. I studied catering while at college and that was one of the publications that our lecturers suggested we suscribed to. I must admit that I don't know a great deal about him, but have heard of him.

CarolAnn, One of the things that gives me and uneasy feeling is the delay in which both parents of JonBenet finally agreed to take a lie detector test. In fact they didn't agree to one until 6 years later. Also they immediately hired a PR team rather than go through the police department. In the footage of the initial press conferences, the father seems quite calm whereas Patsy Ramsey is quite clearly under heavy sedation. I have a guy feeling that the father in some way was indirectly involved in the death of his daughter, I'm not saying he actually killed her but I have this feeling that he had something to do with it. I somehow feel too that the mother found out later about the connection and agreed to stand by her husband. Trouble is, if she did actually know something, she's taken that secret to her grave. There is something that just doesn't ring true about the whole thing.

according to the website for The Band he's still their lead singer.

Is there such a thing as an un-scary pic of her? If only her parents had coated her in just a little more make-up. Speaking of which, anyone else out there doubting the confession by the American guy in Thailand that he really killed her? And what's with all the Western paedos in Thailand? Their immigration controls are almost as lax as the UK's..... Ronnie, you should have heard the debate last night on CNN regarding the case. I'm totally dubious about the latest confession. even though the guy apparantly knew details about the crime that weren't made public, there's no indication that he had ever visited their house in Colarado. Also the man's ex-wife has come out to say that he was at home on the night that the murder happened. In addition to that, the lay out of the Ramsey house was in such a way that someone would have had to know their way around to be able to find JonBenet's bedroom and be able to take her down to the basement without waking the parents. Unless they come back with concrete DNA evidence then I'm going to remain very skeptical. I believe paedophiles tend to use Thailand as I believe they have a low age of consent and also many young children are forced into prostitution purely as a way to make money to buy food or to help support their families. There is still a lot of poverty in many areas in Thailand

One drummer to keep an eye on in the years to come would be Levon Helm, drummer and vocalist for The Band also the original drummer from back when they were known as The Hawks and were the backing band for Ronnie Hawkins. He was diagnosed with throat cancer a few years ago, but operations were successfull and he's back drumming and touring with The Band. Two members of The Band are already dead, Richard Manuel commited suicide on March 4th 1986 and Rick Danko died in his sleep on December 10th 1999
