How imminent is imminent? 28 days on, we wait.... Iain, If I was you, I'd shoot your source and then post news of his death in the "not really famous but worth a mention" thread

COMMUNISTS ARE HELL. MAO KILLED AS MANY AS 65 MILLION OUTPERFORMING HITLER. STALIN KILLED 25 MILLION> HOW DARE YOU DEFEND COMMUNISTS? So these two men account for all communists do they? Now that does make me wonder, just how many people died when Truman gave the go-ahead to use the bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima

    Not Exactly Famous...

I heard on the radio this morning that Kay Ray (later Kay Finnigan) has died at the age of 95 She co-wrote the tune "lil' Brown Jug" and during the 30's performed with the Dorsey Brothers Band Her death was announced on the "Funeral for a friend" slot on FM107 Minneapolis radio station, Unfortunately I can't find a link announcing her death anywhere edited again:- Ok I've finally found a link

    Michael Foot

Iain, We're all fairly confident that 2006 could well be his final year, hence the reason why he's on the DL. But I hate to break the news to you that Michael Foot is still alive

no, let's just use a more reliable source for information than wikipedia. Unless I'm entering in the wrong search options, I can't find him listed on CNN, Reuters or BBC you'd think at least one of those would have some report.

    A Joke

one day Pope John XXIII was walking around Rome and developed a hole in his shoe. A shoemaker named Abraham Cohen repaired it for free, and the Pope, by way of reward, told him who he was. Cohen proudly put a notice in his shop window saying "Cobblers to the Pope." The following day, his Catholic neighbours put up signs saying "Bollocks to the Chief Rabbi."

I think it's a shame that they're suggesting a state funeral for the last one. Just think how you'd feel if you were the family of the 2nd to last one to die. It's a nice idea though. That's really the last link to an age when men were men and people who understood that we could use a man like herbert hoover again. Problem is they might organise a state funeral for the "last" one & then another one might turn up! I think it should be for the last 5 or however many that are left. Failing that they should have their funerals paid for instead of their families having to fork out the cost. I'd be totally gutted if my great-grandad or whatever croaks it, then a couple of days later another one dies who just happened to be the last one.

Head On /Repossessed by Julian Cope. Getting a good idea as to why his lyrics are totally weird

I take it you don't have many CDs in your collection then? Since Lennon begins with an L, his cds are on a totally seperate shelf and follow slightly after The Lemonheads and since Dylan of course begins with a D, his cds are further up by about 6 or 7 shelves.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2007

He cropped up in Emerdale a couple of years ago, he tends to only get brief appearances in shows these days. saw him in an episode of Holby City, he's aged a lot , barely recognised him

We should blame T.S. Elliot, he was the one who said "April is the cruelist of months" but I guess he was just referring to us and our current drought

    Near misses 2006

He was 84 that's to be expected. He was flying a cessna too when he crashed. Those things get thrown around a lot even with the slightest gust of wind. Nice aircraft though, t'was in one of them that I earned my pilot's license on the busiest day in aviation history - December 17th 2003 Did some nice spins in a C152a a couple of years ago from 5000 ft over the Isle of Sheppey.

A little time in prison could make a different man of him! Presumably you mean in the 5p-50p sense? It would mean that finally, he really would be showing "significant signs of compliance and effort", although perhaps not where you'd expect. and now he's been arrested again

Easter was pretty non-eventful, you usually get at least a couple big names to die over the bank hols. Muriel Spark was about the only big name to die over that weekend

    Near misses 2006

I agree, it would have been nice if he'd survived to see them lift the cup, if that's what they do. I'd be more than happy to see West Ham win on Sunday, especially as Middlesborough knocked us out in the quarter final replay! So for that reason alone I'd love to see West Ham tank them. And as for the final, I can't see myself wanting Chelsea or Liverpool to beat either of the other two, although if Middlesborough win, it may propel Steve McLaren towards the England job, which I'm not too keen on. sorry I should have said Middlesborough, I guess that's what comes of reading two things at the same time. It should have been West Ham's match against Middlesborough on Sunday

    Near misses 2006

[verbal diarrhoea]I'd be getting a bit worried if I was Harry Redknapp, Alan Pardew etc. at the rate West Ham managers seem to be heading for an early bath this year. Seriously though, despite being a Charlton fan,[nostalgia] the first footy game I can still remember seeing on TV was the FA Cup final of 1980 when Lyall was manager of West Ham, which they won 1-0 over Arsenal with a Trevor Brooking header, and like most of the West Ham team of the 70's & 80's, he was at the club for a long long time. I didn't support anyone aged 6 (my dad wasn't into football so I took up a club a bit later in life when I found out my mate's dad was Charlton youth team manager) but I remember my brother being delighted as he's a Liverpool fan, and Arsenal knocked them out in the semi-final after about a million-ish replays; there never used to be a maximum amount in those days.....policeman getting younger, always had white christmases etc.[/nostalgia] I stand to be corrected by superior statisticians, but I think that was the last time a club outside the top division won the FA Cup, despite it being a fairly regular occurrence in the 70's. Mr Lyall, your services to the beautiful game will be long appreciated and much missed. Although it's probably a bit late for me to be addressing him directly, what with the recent dying.[/verbal diarrhoea] Such a shame that Lyall died just a few days before their semi-final match against Charlton this coming Sunday. If they beat Charlton on Sunday, it would be a fitting tribute to Lyall for them to be in the final and I'd love to see them win it again
  24. Happy Anniversary Mr Josco and also belated birthday greetings to anyone that I've missed in the past week or so

Even the dead pool I'm in where there's $180 up for grabs we've only had 4 hits in as many months and they all died in January & February. and another one where the prize is $35, we've had just 2 celebs die I have a feeling that the celebs are growing wise to the number of DPs out there and are doing their best to cling on for as long as possible
