I'm glad he's no longer suffering. A prolonged illness like that definitely is no fun.

Been To Any Good Gigs Lately?
Phantom replied to Brinsworth House Baiter's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I was working for The Weight Band feature members that played in The Band and The Levon Helm Band. Sadly, Jim Weider who replaced Robbie Robertson in The Band had to rush home mid tour as his wife was taken ill. They still managed to put on a really good show. It was an older audience, so the show was over by about 9:45. They opened with "Don't Do It" and then closed with "The Weight" It just occurred to me that today marks 12 years since Levon Helm passed away. -

Not a gig, but last night I took part in the video shoot for the music video for the new single "Speedway" by The Scarlet Goodbye. Here's a quick photo I took of Jeff Arundel (left) and Dan Murphy (right). Dan Murphy was the original lead guitarist for Soul Asylum. -

very minor Coming from you Ibex that means absolutely nothing. Bruno, That's why I put this reply. To say that Kholmov was a "very minor" player in the chess world, is very much an understatement Not a very well known player, but a strong player none-the-less. He didn't gain worldwide celebrity status as players such as Botvinnik, Tal, Petrosian, Spassky, Karpov or the very charismatic Kasparov. He reached his pinnacle during the late 50s and early 60s and was ranked as high as 6th in the world by 1960 Had he been more consistant with his games, he could have made it as World Chess Champion. Such a shame that's the 2nd chess player to have died within the space of a month Not far behind him though is Boris Spassky who will be 70 next January, however for the past 30 years, Spassky has been living comfortably in France

I was just glancing through websites after the news of Henry McGee from the Benny Hill show had died, I realised that vitually the entire cast of The Benny Hill Show have died. So I got thinking about the cast of Hancock's Half Hour. The main stars the lad himself, Sid James, Kenneth Williams & Hattie Jacques have all left us except for Bill Kerr (b. 1924) and other regulars Moira Lister (b. 1923) Hugh Lloyd (b. 1923) Andree Melly (b. 1932) and of course the show's writers Ray Galton (b. 1930) Alan Simpson (b. 1929) Does anyone have any details of the health status of any of these? As far as I'm aware Galton & Simpson are both doing fine and are still writing

Well, considering they had Guy de Maupassant under M. I questioned the logic behind that. The only response that I got was "Do you want this book or not?"

He only passed away last night. If he died in 1978 he wouldn't have been able to perform the 2019 Rockin' Race festival in Spain
